4 GEM Bunz Bakery and Burgers-by Tom Ury The CSCC met at BUNZ Bakery and Burger Bar on Thursday, Nov. 20 th. About 40 people attended the social dinner, and from what I could tell all were enjoying their conversations and Food. Some pictured, some not. Paul & Nancy Rahne welcome back!. Dave Ury, Rick Prescott, Tom Ury Turkey Rallye Nov 2 Chris & Jonathan Capshaw Jeff & Liz Scott John Gue, Olejniks, Walt Jenkins Thanks to all who attended: Chris Capshaw & Jonathan, Mike & Diana Dittman, Tom & Barb Hoeppner, John & Colleen Williams - new members, Rick Prescott, Dave & Phyllis Ury, Paul & Nancy Rahne, Bob & Adele Balink, Jerrry & Denise Phillips, Craig & Diane Wisniewski, William & Karen Draper, prospective member Curtis Haynes, Larry & Gwenda Valentine, John & Judith Gue, Lynn Wittrock, Pete & Alta Olejnik, Jeff & Liz Scott, Walt & Nancy Jenkins, Jerry & Diane Stermer, John Ames, Roger Miller, Brian & Peggy Dahl. by Jeff McCutcheon This year's Turkey Rallye saw a bit less turn out than in the past, but those that braved the weather forecast were treated to a fun time with friends, family and fellow enthusiasts. Representing CSCC by teams were Rik Noring & Roger Miller, the Jenkins, Loewens, Jeff & his dad, and Gina & Jeff's stepmom. The threatened snow is exactly what we got over Monument Hill and out east which prevented several of our members (Gina McCutcheon, the Jenkins) from participating in corvettes. For the McCutcheons, it was a family affair. My folks were visiting from NJ and had never been to one of our Corvette events. My father really wanted to watch a Corvette event and I think he was disappointed to learn that our rallyes are not really spectator friendly events. Instead, I asked him to be my navigator, and with some apprehension, he agreed. Gina and my stepmom teamed up in the 4Runner. The competition was on! After drawing cards for the two poker hands, we were off on the Pete Urenda (DCA) developed gimmick rallye! The weather was actually clear and the rallye took us through some nice back roads with pleasant scenery; if you were lucky enough to see it while focusing on spotting clues. At the finish, we gathered for a nice lunch and a couple of drinks while the results were tallied. Gina McCutcheon scored a first place finish in the gimmick rallye while I finished third. It will be a while before I hear the end of her gloating! I must say, The Turkey Rallye is one of my favorites and not just because it starts with donuts and ends with beer! This event was even more special because I was able to involve my folks. For the last few years, they have been hearing about all the things we do as a club and it was nice to be able to involve them in an event and introduce them to some of the cool friends we have made. They both felt welcome had a great time. Now if I can only get them in the car for an autocross or two! Trash Pickup Dec 6 by Tom Ury The CSCC Adopt-A-Highway Project, (AKA, Highway Beautification Project) was executed on December 6th. CSCC is responsible for cleaning up an area along Hwy at mile marker #134 3 or 4 times a year. We had a smaller group than usual with only 13 people making it, but thankfully, it had only been a short time since we did the last one so the trash was not as bad. The weather was overcast and chilly. We found some money and several active theft protection devices that were normally attached to packages. One never knows what treasures await. Ten of us adjourned after the cleanup and had breakfast at Sarge's Grill. All-in-all, it was a very good day. Jerry Griffin, Wayne Hoskins, Paul Thompson, Joe Horvath, John Williams, Dave Ury, Tom Ury, Jim & Judy Nile Pete & Alta Olejnik, and Vicki Ury with the camera By Diana Dittman Governor: Rik Noring & monthly interview Rik Noring was born and raised in Madison, Nebraska. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors degree in History in Florece was born and raised in Livermore California. She moved to Orem Utah with her parents for her last two years of High School. She graduated from Weber State University with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Rik and Florece met in Utah while Rik was at BYU, they were married in 1994 and have three children. Carlie is a recently engaged sophomore at BYU. She is studying to be a High School English teacher. Rick is a sophomore at Hanover High School. He enjoys sports and is currently working on rebuilding a 1979 Vette to be his first car. Dagny is in the 8 th grade at Hanover, and enjoys academics her goal is to continue her 3 year streak of 4.0 into High School. In 2005 the family moved to Colorado from Utah to join the family business as it moved to the present location South of Colorado Springs. Rik had a Corvette in his name back in 1976, he was only 5 and it was just a parts car. The first Corvette Rik and Florece owned was a 1992 white convertible. They purchased it with a bad knock in the engine from a family in Ogden, UT. After replacing the spark plug wires, and putting them on in the correct order, the Vette ran great! About a year later, they drove it to a NASCAR race in Las Vegas. While touring the Hoover dam, they noticed a red C5 at a Henderson dealer and made an even trade. With the increased luggage space, they went straight to the outlet mall. While Rik s favorite Corvette activity is Autocross, as a couple they love the Rallye! One of their favorite rallye memories was a few years ago. Rik had to officiate at graduation for Hanover, so during the middle of the rallye they veered from the course flew down Peyton Highway, popped into the graduation ceremony handed diplomas to all 12 graduates then returned to the rallye route. Rik & Florece strongly believe that the Corvette brings us together the friendships keep us coming back. Page 4 of 10

The party kicked off with a very enlightening game of Bingo. We were asked to cruise the room seeking the people that had some great secrets to share. Great Fun! Thank you Diana Dittman for cooking the game up for us! Prior to dinner, to spread a bit of cheer, we were all treated to a year at a glimpse video, produced by Tom Hoeppner. It was everything NICE about our Club in 2014, smiles, laughs, members, and Corvettes; all to the tunes of the Season. Like Christmas morning - the real excitement was yet to come After dinner, seven couples, representing the Corvette generations, C1 through C7, were asked to come forward. Each couple was challenged to send 2 tennis balls down and around, over and under the man s pants. The crowd was asked to cheer their choice on to victory. Laughter was heard at the North Pole! The best gift of the night was the story of Christmas With The Right Family. The story didn t have reindeer dancing on the roof nor did it have visions of sugar plums. The action packed story had us all going right, left, back, and behind; passing envelopes from person to person teasing each of us with delicious gifts from a bottle of wine, to a $1,000,000,000 chocolate bar, to a $100,000 lotto ticket. Oh - HO, HO, HO it was a Jolly St. Tom that kept us a bit confused but always laughing. Ninety-seven members enjoyed a scrumptious dinner prepared by Chef Pinto at the Creekview Grill at Antler Creek Golf Club. According to Judith Gue, we came in under budget so will have a few hundred dollars extra as a start up for next year's Christmas Basket fund! 8 Rocky Mountain Region - NCCC 2015 Race Number Request 2014 HIGHLIGHTS AND OTHER NEWS Opens12:00 a.m. January 1, 2015 corvettemuseum.org Barrett Benson bsqaured@q.com To see what numbers are already taken, click below Race Number Listing To go directly to the number registration form, click below Register Race Number If you do not participate in Rocky Mountain Region (regionally or nationally sanctioned) autocross events then you probably don't care about this. However, as a reminder for new and seasoned members the website will start taking requests at midnight New Year s Eve 12:00 AM January 1, The Rocky Mountain Region of NCCC allows members to request a two digit racer number. If this racer number is available - it will be assigned to you for the entire year. These numbers will only be recognized at RMR-NCCC auto-crosses. If you attend an outof-region autocross, this number will not apply at that event. You do not need to obtain a permanent racer number to compete. If you do not have a permanent racer number, the event organizer will assign you a 3 digit racer number ( ) for that particular race. In this case, your racer number will not be the same for every event. Numbers 1-15 are reserved for the top 15 point recipients of Note - the top 15 women will have their 2014standings number with an "L" after it. If you are one of the top 15 point recipients then you may request another number (16-99) and as long as you are the first to request it, you can use that number for the year. Your number (1-15) which was assigned to you cannot be transferred to anyone else and will not be used if you decide to request another number. Numbers are available on a first come first served basis to anyone who wants a permanent number for Note - in 2015, the numbers are available for men and the numbers 16L - 99L are available for women. If you had a number in 2014 then you must request your number (same or different) again for This website will start taking requests at 12:00 AM on 1/1/2015. Once you have requested and received a number you will not be able to change it, so make sure it is the number you want. MAJOR EVENTS Each year the major events at National Corvette Museum begin in April and conclude in November. But this year was an exception due to the Skydome s sinkhole catastrophe February 12 th with the loss of the Great 8 Corvettes. Making national news, the sinkhole became the main attraction. All visitors wanted to see the sinkhole, and the Museum s attendance increased 50% once the sinkhole area and recovered 8 Vettes were on display through November 9 th. The Skydome restoration includes removing boulders, installing sheet piling to block the cave opening, filling the sinkhole with 4,000 tons of fist-sized stone, removing the existing concrete slab floor, installing electrical, water, HVAC lines and ductwork, installing 46 micro-piles, and pouring a new one-level concrete floor. Completion is projected by next July. The Museum s regularly scheduled events including the April Bash, May ZR-1/C4 Gathering, Labor Day 20 th Anniversary Celebration, and November Vets N Vettes were huge successes, displaying 2015 Stingrays and presenting great seminars. The ZR1 Blue Devil has been restored and returned to the Museum for display after the Skydome restoration is completed. The 1962 black roadster and the 1 millionth white Corvette will be restored and returned to the Museum for display in The remaining 5 Corvettes will not be restored and will be displayed in their recovered condition. NEWS NASCAR team owner and Chevrolet dealer Rick Hendrick picked up the first production C7 Z06, a black coupe, on Tuesday, December 2 nd. A few laps on the Motorsports track completed the Museum delivery event. GM announced that the first C7 Z06 convertible will be sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ. Hendrick purchased the first C7 production coupe and convertible at the auction, so it s anticipated he will outbid everyone for the Z06 convertible to add to his collection of C7s. Dave Heinemann, the incoming president of the National Council of Corvette Clubs and lifetime member of the Museum, will be filling the NCCC seat on the Museum s board of directors. Dave took delivery of a C7 from the Museum this year. Or Directly access the NCCC Rocky Mountain Region website through the link on the CSCC website. Page 8 of 10
