MCCOY TO BEGIN INJURY REHAB TONIGHT: Lefthanded pitcher Patrick McCoy is scheduled to begin an injury rehabilitation assignment with Triple A Toledo tonight. He has been sidelined since July 6 with a pulled right hamstring. TIGERS SIGN TWO SELECTIONS FROM 2014 DRAFT: The Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms with 13th round selection Will Allen, a catcher from the University of Mississippi and 38th round selection Magglio Ordonez Jr., a first baseman from American Heritage School. With the signing period now concluded, the Tigers agreed to terms with 31 of 40 selections from this year s draft, including 18 of their top 20 picks. ALL SMYLES: Drew Smyly earned his sixth win of the season yesterday against Cleveland, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 7.0 innings. He worked at least 7.0 innings and allowed one run or less for just the second time in his career. His only other outing of at least 7.0 innings with one run-or-less allowed was on May 3, 2014 at Kansas City. ACTION JACKSON: Austin Jackson has been a catalyst at the top of the Tigers order in recent games. Sunce July 2, Jackson is hitting.377 (23x61) with 11 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples and five RBI. Jackson has reached base safely in 14 of 15 games played during that stretch.
