3 Spyder Ryder f America Mjave Desert Chapter RELEASE, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS FOR 2012 This agreement is entered int between the undersigned and Spyder Ryder f America and the Mjave Desert Chapter their business entities, its fficers, emplyees, instructrs, agents, and invitees, and the wner f the prperty n which the event may take place and all persns related t them (cllectively SRA ). As the undersigned, I understand that there are risks inherent in mtrcycle riding and that thse risks may include injury t me r thers attending any SRA sanctined event, and damage t my prperty r the prperty f thers. Further, mtrcycle riding invlves physical exertin n the part f the rider and/r the passenger. Partaking in grup rides, classes and wrkshps naturally invlves the risk f injury t thers, and me whether I r smene else causes it. As such, I understand and vluntarily accept this risk and agree that SRA will nt be liable fr any injury, including, withut limitatin, persnal, bdily r mental injury, ecnmic lss r any damage t me (r my vehicle) resulting frm the negligence f SRA r anyne n SRA S behalf r anyne attending the event. Further, I understand and acknwledge that SRA is prviding recreatinal services and may nt be held liable fr defective prducts. 4 Riding Standard Operating Prcedures (SOP) 1. Rad Captain (SRA-MDC) The Rad Captains are respnsible fr the planning/apprving and cnduct f all club rides. This includes rutes, frmatins, speed, fuel and rest stps, navigatin, and safety. The Rad Captain may prhibit anther rider (member r guest) frm riding in frmatin with the club if in his judgment the rider presents a risk t him/her self r t ther riders and may als disallw a rider frm jining a ride based n the mechanical cnditin f the rider s mtrcycle if it presents a hazard r culd impede the prgress f the frmatin. The Rad Captain may appint assistants t include Rad Guards and Sweeps whenever necessary t assist in managing a ride. 2. Sweep The Sweep will be a trusted member in gd standing with the club, chsen by the SRA-MDC. The Sweep s main duty ccurs during lane changes. Upn receiving the signal fr a lane change, the Sweep shuld mve int the lane as sn as it is safe t d s and blck any ther traffic frm mving int the lane frm behind the frmatin. This will allw the frmatin t safely cmplete the lane change. The Sweep will als stay with a rider in the grup that has pulled ver due t any emergency. 3. Lights Only the Rad Captain and Sweep will have high beams (nly during day) r fg lights turned n in frmatin. All ther bikes in the frmatin shuld turn ff accessry lights. 4. Obey the Law Abslutely n driving under the influence f any drug, prescriptin r illegal. If yu vilate any speed limits r ther laws, yu, and yu alne, are ttally and abslutely respnsible fr ANY cnsequences. 5. Frmatins Staggered frmatin May be used n Interstate highways, lng, straight rads, and city streets. SRA-MDC will remain in center f lane, 2 nd bike will stay primarily n left side f lane, the 3 rd bike will take the right side and s n till the sweep, wh will be in center f lane. Yu shuld be 1 secnd behind bike in the adjacent clumn and 2 secnds behind bike in frnt f yu. Reasn: Frmatin will allw fr length fr grup t be shrtened allwing fr easier passing by faster traffic and t minimize the chance f a cage breaking the frmatin. Will allw fr lineup at intersectins n city streets. Hand signal: left arm extended up with first finger and little finger extended. Single clumn frmatin

5 Used n all back highways and narrw rads r in hazardus cnditins. Left bike takes the lead in each rw. Each bike will maintain a tw secnd interval frm the bike in frnt f them. Reasn: Frmatin will allw each rider t be able t cmfrtably use the width f the lane in their wn style, with ability t take all crners individually and safely. Hand signal: Left arm extended up with first finger extended. Order: Rad Captain President (Unless serving as SRA-MDC r Sweep) Guests and members Sweep Cages (if applicable) Always pull up int a tight tw clumn frmatin at stps. When negtiating sharp curves at high speeds, such as at highway interchanges riders may back ff t create staggered r single file lines at their wn discretin withut waiting fr a lead signal. Dn t exceed yur cmfrt zne! Ride yur wn ride. This means that yu shuld ride at a pace that's cmfrtable fr YOU. Yu must be aware f the limits f yur skills, abilities and experience, and ride accrdingly. D nt exceed yur cmfrt level by trying t keep up with a faster rider. If a rider pulls ut f frmatin, mve up t fill the empty slt in yur clumn. In case f an emergency r mechanical prblem a rider shuld signal his intentins and then pull ut f the frmatin nt the shulder f the rad. All ther bikes will fllw the Rad Captain t a lcatin where the entire frmatin can safely pull ver. Only the Sweep r chase vehicle will pull ff with the bike having prblems. If the frmatin gets split due t a traffic light r ther bstacle, the lead grup will slw dwn r pull ver at first safe lcatin, s that the trail grup can catch up. If a cage breaks int the frmatin, the lead riders will slw dwn t encurage the cage t change lanes and leave the frmatin. When traveling n highways it may be necessary t let cages split int the frmatin t enter the highway if they are running ut f ramp r t let them exit if they are in an inside lane. If this is the case, back ff and give them rm, we dn t want them t panic and d smething that culd injure themselves, r wrse, ne f ur riders. The Rad Captain and lead bikes shuld avid quick acceleratins fllwing stps r sharp curves t prevent a Slinky effect. 6. Lane Changes When changing lanes the Rad Captain will signal the lane change. Riders will activate their turn signal, and pass the hand signal back t the Sweep, while maintaining their psitin. The Sweep will secure the lane. After the lane is secured, the Rad Captain will initiate the lane change. Use cautin t make sure a cage tw lanes ver hasn t mved int the same lane in frnt f the Sweep. Als if the bike next t yu is mving first, allw him t establish his track befre yu mve next t him. Be aware that in sme cases such as heavy traffic r shrt n-ramps there may nt be sufficient rm t wait fr the Sweep t secure the lane. If this happens, either catch up t bike in frnt f yu, then change lanes, r slide in behind traffic and await the traffic t change lanes r the rad captain and sweep cntinue lane changes. 7. Hand & Arm Signals

Tap tp f head r helmet t alert riders f plice r emergency vehicles. If yu need t make a pit stp pint t yur tank; ther riders will pass the signal t the frnt. Thumbs up means OK r I understand. Befre taking ff frm the start f a ride r a pit stp, Rad Captain will ask fr all members in grup t signal thumbs up, ensuring all riders are ready t take ff. In rder t maintain a tight frmatin, the lead bikes will stp at an intersectin, unless entering n a green light, and then the entire frmatin will prceed thrugh the intersectin as a grup. Always use extreme cautin. If it is nt safe t crss, then stp. Als make sure yu dn t gun it t get acrss the intersectin when the bike in frnt f yu is stpping. Traffic Lights Rad Captain will ensure whle grup can prgress thrugh the light safely. If grup is separated by light, lead members will pull ver t side f the rad and wait fr tailing grup t catch up. When making a legal right hand turn during a red, SRA-MDC will ensure that there is enugh space in ncming traffic fr entire grup t turn thrugh crner. Stp signs Rad Captain will prgress thrugh intersectin when safe. Fllwing members will get thrugh ding the same. SRA-MDC will slwly speed up t apprximately 5 mph under the speed limit till all members f grup are thrugh the intersectin and up t speed. Nt cnducted by SRA. Included fr knwledge when riding with ther grups. At times when the frmatin is entering the rad frm a parking lt r ging thrugh a fur-way stp it may be cnducive t pst a rad guard t blck traffic until all bikes have passed. The rad guard shuld preferably be a patch hlder r if necessary a prspect. Hang-a-runds and guests shuld nt be expected t serve as rad guards. Rad guards shuld nrmally cme frm the rear f the frmatin up t the pst and then return t their psitin after all bikes have passed. During parades r special rides, permanent rad guard duties may be assigned. Be aware that blcking traffic is technically illegal, s use yur discretin if there are plice arund befre yu stp traffic. Under mst circumstance, the Rad Captain will set a speed f apprximately 5 mph abve the speed limit, unless traffic, rad cnditins r law enfrcement give reasn t slw dwn t the psted speed limit r belw. If ne member is having prblems keeping up, i.e.-ging slw thrugh winding rads, the SRA-MDC will slw t the speed limit, r 5 mph belw t allw grup t stay tgether, nce member has caught up, SRA-MDC will cntinue as abve. Lane chice n multilane highways is at the discretin f the Rad Captain. The utside lane is usually the mst dangerus due t entering and exiting traffic it shuld be avided whenever pssible. The #2 lane will nrmally be the lane f chice depending n traffic flw, shulders and medians. Lane changes may be necessary t pass slw mving vehicles. Try t give large trucks as much rm as pssible in case f excessive turbulence r items falling ff f r ut f their trailers. Yu are respnsible fr the rider BEHIND yu While the Rad Captains are respnsible fr the whle grup, assist them. When yu reach a turn, check yur mirrrs. DO NOT make the turn until yu are certain the rider behind yu sees yu. Pass at yur wn risk

DO NOT make an unsafe pass because f cncern abut being left behind -- the rider in frnt f yu will wait fr yu at the next turn. When entering a parking lt, fllw the SRA-MDC. They will attempt t find parking that will accmmdate the entire grup. If yu cannt park with the grup then lcate the next clsest space t park. Spyders can have 2 bikes per parking spt, first Spyder pulls in frward, staying as far right as pssible, allwing fr secnd Spyder t back in n the left hand side with rear tires next t each ther. Make sure yu have a full tank f gas and yur Spyder Radster is in a safe perating cnditin and that it will nt pse a hazard t ther riders r yu befre yu arrive at the meeting lcatin. As PBU/KSU time appraches, finish yur fd and drinks, visit the restrm, and have yu c-rider and gear ready. During rest stps, get yur business dne as quickly as pssible s that the grup isn t waiting n yu. Mst f the time n the return trip f a ride; riders will want t peel ff frm the ride t cntinue their ride hme. Ensure that yu signal smene n the ride, if nt the SRA-MDC, that yu are peeling ff frm the grup s that they dn t ntice yu re gne and waste time and gas lking fr yu n the chance that yu gt in a wreck r brke dwn.
