2 Page 2 The Elementary Book Fair was a huge success! Maud ISD would like to thank everyone for helping and supporting this great cause. We had parents that worked the book fair and were actively involved. We would also like to thank the grandparents who came out and supported Grandparents Day during the book fair. Mrs. Carlow s class won the All for Books contest for donating the most money. They will get to pour seaweed and throw a water balloon at Mr. Brown one day in May. Elementary Book Fair Elementary Book Fair Contest During the Elementary Book Fair, Mrs. Kight coordinated a guessing game; pre-k 5th grade entered and guessed how many sea shells were in a fish bowl. Pre-K student Dillan Daffern guessed the closest amount. Box Tops for Education The February-March Box Tops for Education Contest was a big success! We collected 6,803 box tops. The winning class for the primary building was Mrs. Waldrop s kindergarten. The winning class for the elementary building was Mrs. Bolick s 3rd grade. Both classes will be treated to a pizza/ice cream party at the park when the weather permits. Maud Elementary Teacher Requests Parent request for classroom teachers for the school year should be made in writing by June 6, 2015 to Mrs. Townsend in the Elementary Office. St. Jude Bike-a-Thon Plan now to participate, or support a student who does participate, in the annual St. Jude s Bike -a-thon sponsored by Maud Elementary School. This year s event will be held on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. until noon. In case of rain, it will be held the following Saturday, May 2. This is a great opportunity to teach our students about giving to others and working for a charity. All proceeds are donated to St. Jude Children s Hospital. If you have any questions or would like to help with the event, please contact Tammie Dickens at tdickens@maudisd.net.
