To provide and regulate events and exhibitions for Corvette Owners. To encourage careful and skillful driving.

5 likes purchasing gifts for the younger kids! It would be nice if club members could bring in the gifts to the Nov. and Dec. club meetings. Mike Stevens gave just a brief add-on to Julie s report. In August, we ran an autocross in downtown CL at the Old Oak Industries parking lot. Home State Bank owned that property at that time and they didn t want us to pay a rental fee for the use of the parking lot. They asked us to make a $500 contribution to the Rau Center for Performing Arts in Crystal Lake. So in the end we raised ~ $1,200 for the Sunburst Treasury, AND contributed $500 to a local charitable foundation. We also received a really nice thank-you letter from the Rau Center Foundation. This is another local charity we were able to support this yr. through all of our efforts! Car Show Gary Gembala Gary has been looking for a Co-Chair to assist with the car show. About a week ago, Gary called Skip Gallagher to see if he would be interested in being the co-chair for the car show. Skip agreed and has stepped up to assist. We are having the 2016 Kick Off Meeting on Oct. 3 rd. with the primary people who have managed the show in the past. Will get together and discuss where the show is going next year. Will be looking at this years post-mortem results. Talk about what we did right, what we can improve on, and what can we change to improve the show. We will come back with a report to the board, followed up with the General Meeting! The car show for next year is being moved to August 28 th. Webmaster Mike Smosna Mike is looking at software package for Web Site development. (i.e. Quicken website.com). Will provide click and drag functionality for developing web sites. Mike has worked with the demo package and is impressed with it s functionality. Purchasing the software is $150 and comes with 3 licenses, and is compatible across ALL software platforms. Mike Stevens asked the board to purchase the software package 3 license set, at $150, plus taxes, shipping and handling and was approved! As this wasn t a budgeted item, we need to get the approval of the general membership for the quick and easy web builder. Licenses for multiple platforms are $50 each and we would require 3 licenses for Mike, Gary Gembala, and Janet Elston. Mike Stevens entertained a motion that we purchase the software site licenses for purchase, Mike Murphy made the motion, Jim Downing seconded, approved! Public Relations vacant Apparel Kathy Samuel Nothing to report Sergeant at Arms Dave Thomas Nothing to report Newsletter Kris Jensen asked members to keep pictures and stories coming in! As that provides a little human interest to the newsletter! Goodwill Karen Baird couldn t be here tonight. So Mike Stevens stepped in to announce those club members who had Birthday s or Anniversaries during the month! Historian Gary Gembala Past Events: Run for the Ribs (15) Sunburst Rally (15) Countryside Car and Craft Show (20) Huntley Fall Festival (8) CA Trip (8,000) Tonight it seams we have an issue between Windows and MAC and we are not able to view the slide show tonight. Will work on resolving this issue and show the slide show next month! Special Committees TEN-MINUTE BREAK Galati s Liaison - Mike Rosendahl is our Liaison to Galati s. Mike talked with Vince and he s very pleased with all the Sunburst Members and how well things went tonight! 40 th Anniversary Committee- Mike & Dee Rosendahl Looking for club members to join the committee and assist with the planning our 40 th Anniversary in The committee is looking for ideas or events that club members would like for our 40 th Anniversary. The first committee meeting will be held in the upcoming weeks! 2016 Nominating Committee & Board Elections Mike Stevens, it s the time of the year that the club is looking at elections for board positions for So we have a nominating Committee of Dee Elliott, Mehlinae Douglas, and Marilyn Roberts have agreed to serve on the nominating committee. The committee will be contacting current board members to see if any of them are willing to run for 2016, and will be handing out ballets so club members can suggest candidates for the committee to take into consideration. The slate of candidates will be presented at next months general meeting and voting will be done at the Decembers general meeting. Old Business Autocrosssing Milwaukee 9/5&6 Bill Hoak Was an autocross, weather was good!

6 California Dreaming Gary Gembala Sixteen Days, three couples, everyone had a Blast following Gary. Six thousand miles, three national parks, one national reserve, plenty of food, and plenty of great sights, and great friendships! No speeding tickets, great weather! Countryside Show & Shine 9/20 Jana Tyk Thanks to all those people that showed up for the event. Twelve cars showed up for the charity event and was able to raise $70 for the charity (Home land Sparrow)?? Countryside donated several planters that were use in the raffle, and both were won by members of the club. Followed by food at the Crystal Lake Rib House! Avie Fest Show & Shine 9/26 Mike Stevens this was an event that was sponsored by Karen Hottenrott who live in Burlington WI. There was a silent auction, craft show for kids, and the highlight was, there was a group From Chicago land Crossroads Corvette Club who showed up. The Chicago land Crossroads are a group of brothers who come with some of the slickest cars you would ever want to see! The car show was held at a gas station and barbecue and was really, really, good! Membership Renewal Mike Stevens Bill Mumford isn t here, but please get your membership renewals is ASAP. Otherwise you will be penalized $10 by the NCCC for late membership. Renewal is $ a couple, single is $49. New Business Sunburst Business Cards Mike Stevens told us that during car shows during the year, many times people ask members for information about the Sunburst Corvette Club and members do not have anything to hand to them. So Mike now has a two sided business card with detailed club information on both sides. So pick up a few and place them in your car Upcoming Events: Autocrossing Rantoul 10/3&4 Bill Hoak Fundraiser for Mid West Region! Autocrossing South Bend 10/17 Bill Hoak Tailgate Party November 7 th Mike and Pat Stevens Will be held at the Little Angels Home in Elgin, flyers are back on the table. Sunburst Holiday Party December 5 th Jean Mumford Kathy Samuel``, get your checks in, complete the form indicating your choice of dinner entrees. Christmas flyers are on the back table. Announcements: Apparel Raffle was $60, Donna Sharik wasn t present. So next month, it will be $80. 50/50 Raffle Winners are greeters on November 5 th. $ 72 to the winner Tom Marks. 15 Corvette Oktoberfest at Blackhawk Farms Corvette Oktoberfest Saturday, October 17th On Saturday October 17th a large group of Sunburst members traveled to South Beloit, before dawn, to participate in the 2nd annual Corvette Oktoberfest. Once we checked in at the registration office the cars went through a tech inspection. Most of our members participated in one of the three novice groups classroom instruction and a ride along instructor. Once cleared by an instructor to drive solo, members were able to drive as fast as they could (within their capabilities) around the 1.95 mile Blackhawk Farms circuit. Each driver was able to get in 100 minutes of track time and wear a big smile. After each driving session members compared notes and those with C7 s like John Henney and Gary Gembala, were able to watch their performance with their onboard cameras. Other members participating were: Lee Thorson, Skip Gallager, Ron Gliot, Tom Marks, Ziggy & Cathy Eckman, Rich Orr, Mike Stevens, Mike Zorn, Jose Lara, Ed Mills, Diane & Terry Klehr, Mark & Patty DalBello. This event was partially sponsored by Bill Stasek Chevrolet. The Chicagoland North Corvette Club also had a large contingent of members there as well. Blackhawk Farms will be planning on a similar event next October, so stay tuned for the details.
