Our Hip Hop Class utilizes upbeat (age appropriate) music from various types of Hip Hop music like R&B, Club, House and Pop. You'll learn to dance to the beat of the latest Hip Hop Hits! We welcome all skill levels and pre-registration is required. Contact Nancy Benzmiller for details. Adult Ballroom Dance Class These classes will offer the fun and excitement of ballroom dance with a personal touch. We provide the knowledge and techniques of the different styles of dance including American as well as International to classical music with a mix of modern. These lessons will include traditional ballroom dances such the waltz, tango, cha-cha, and salsa. This style of dance instruction includes hard work, and a passion to move! This class does not require you to 4

Pickleball is a simple paddle game, played with a special perforated, plastic, slow moving ball over a tennis type net on a Badminton sized court. The ball is served underhanded, swinging the paddle below the waist, without bouncing it from the court. The ball is served to the opponent's service zone. Points are scored by the serving side and occur when the opponent faults. The server continues to serve, altering service courts, until server faults. A game is one by the first team which scores 11 points, but must continue until one team achieves a two point margin. Drop-in times for Members and their guests (guests must be accompanied by a member). If you bring a guest, please contact the Security Gate at and check them in at the Front Desk. Guest fees for pickleball only are $5.00 for this event. Wednesdays 1:00-3:00pm Saturdays 9:45-11:45am We will expand these times as needed. (Please remember to check-in at the Front Desk) The Club has 4 wood Diller paddles & balls that can be checked out from the Front Desk on a first come first serve basis. Adult Men s Member Pick-Up Basketball Member Pick-Up Basketball, full court, is on Tuesday evenings 6:00-8:30pm & Saturday mornings 7:30-9:30am. If you bring a guest, please contact the Security Gate at and check them in at the Front Desk. Guest fees for basketball only are $5.00 for this event. The gym is closed to recreational basketball during this time. Universal Kempo-Karate The Club offers Karate for Kids 4 years of age and older. April 9 - Closed for aerification, course re-opens 4/10 at 11am. **April 4 - Ladies Night meeting in the Thomas Blake Ballroom at 5:00pm. **April 18 - Men s / Senior League meeting in the Thomas Blake Ballroom at 5:30pm. May 3-5 th annual The Russell golf tournament, 12:30pm shotgun followed by an optional dinner in La Fortezza featuring Russ favorite, the chicken fried steak dinner! May 4 - Kentucky Derby Couples Party, 12:30pm shotgun followed by the horse race at 4:00pm in the Tackroom. As of February 28 th, your 2012 Unlimited Cart Pass has expired and passes for the 2013 season are on sale now for the great rate of $615 per person. This is a great opportunity if you expect to be playing 30+ rounds this season. Also, please remember that carts are not included in most tournaments. The Unlimited Cart Pass is good from the day of purchase until the end of February If a family buys two Unlimited Cart Passes for the 2013 season, the children under the age of 16 that are dependants of the membership will ride for free until the passes have expired. Upgrade to new equipment by trading in old unwanted clubs from your garage! We take trade on most clubs! Just drop them by the Golf Shop or talk to Tye to get a quote. With the Learning Center we are able to allow you to hit clubs and experience the true ball flight year round. We can custom fit and custom order from most major brands including Taylormade, Cleveland, Nike, Callaway, Titleist, Ping, and more! 2013 Events Calendar and Member Information The golf season is soon to begin and we would like to give you the opportunity to plan for the golf events and golf functions. 8 GOLF NEWS th Annual The Russell Golf Tournament To honor all that Russ did for The Club, we named our season opening event "The Russell." You are invited to join for the 5 th annual tournament to be held Friday, May 3 rd. This event is limited to the first 54 that sign up so please do so quickly. To kick off the 2013 tournament season we will be continuing this great tradition at The Club. Since Russ has retired we are happy to have this event in place to get him back to The Club at least once a year! This tournament is designed for three Members to play with one employee in a four person ABCD random draw best ball. We would like to create an environment of good camaraderie and fun so please feel free to invite the staff member in your group to join us following the round for Russ favorite, chicken fried steak in the La Fortezza dining room! *This event is open to all Golf Members and their spouses only. **Please RSVP by calling the Golf Shop at Kentucky Derby Couples Party! You are invited to 's annual Kentucky Derby Couples Golf Party to be held Saturday, May 4 th. This fun event is limited to the first 12 couples who sign up and is all about having fun. Please sign up in the Golf Shop by calling (719) , by at twilliams@flyinghorseclub.com, or by simply registering online through the Member s Only website calendar. The format for the event will be a one net best-ball of the couple, then after the round each team will pick a horse in the Kentucky Derby field. The order in which you finish the golf portion of the event will determine the draft order of the horses. The owners of the winning horse will win the event. Play will begin with a 12:30pm shotgun start followed by watching the Kentucky Derby. *This event is open to our Golf Members and their spouses only. *The cost of the event is $25 per couple. 9 TENNIS NEWS USTA Tennis Tournaments Our next USTA Tournament will be held April 5-7 (Junior). Most, if not all, of the courts will be taken the majority of that weekend. This is a comprehensive drill to calm you before the hectic week. (4 week session) Fast Track Tennis: 12:00-1:00pm - The 4 week class is designed for the beginner or player that hasn't played in a while. We will focus on stroke production, technique and scoring. The is a quick start program that will have you hitting balls consistently allowing you the pleasure of playing tennis matches. (4 week session) Ladies Night Out: 6:30-8:00pm - "Oh yes it's Ladies Night, and the feelings right!!" Let's do a little drilling, and play a lot of tennis! You'll receive instruction and coaching, so for all the ladies who want to feel special, this is your night! (4 week session) TUESDAY (switched to Thursday) Stroke of the Week: 1:00pm - 2:00PM - Focus on a particular stroke every week! Drills designed to work on specific strokes so you can have the consistency you've always wanted! (6 week session) WEDNESDAY Tenni-cise!: 9:00-10:00am AND 10:00-11:00am - See how many baskets you can get through before the hour is up! A comprehensive drill that gets you movin' and playin' with all levels. April Tennis Mixer Our April Mixer will be on April 19, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Junior Tennis Session III Session III starts April 1 and runs through May 12. Please contact Mike Humphrey or fill out a registration form to guarantee your spot! If registration forms are not filled out, you will be charged at the pay as you go rate. Summer Jr Team Tennis Junior Team Tennis is an 8 week program of practices and match play for all kids, ages 8 18 who want to play in a team atmosphere. Teams are comprised of players of similar gender, age and skill. They compete with other teams from the same geographic region in one of four divisions: 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under, and 18 & Under. Within these age divisions there are levels for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players. The age division cut-off is the age of the player as of August 11, The format for Team Tennis is 2 singles and 1 doubles. Pricing includes team shirt and USTA registration. 11 FITNESS/PILATES We are waiting for you to become part of the fast growing Pilates Studio at Flying Horse. Try something new and exciting as you build your core strength, tone your body and alleviate pain while having fun and working hard. We offer Group classes, private 1:1 sessions and duet sessions. Our prices are extremely reasonable and we will help you attain your fitness goals. We recommend any beginners to Pilates to sign up for three private sessions to meet with your instructor 1:1 to learn the basic concepts, introduce you to the equipment and learn the language before attending the existing group classes. A Private Pilates session is $65.00 for 1-hour of private instruction. Pilates 90 Day Challenge Update The 90-Day Pilates Challenge is officially over and we will be obtaining post body measurements the first week of April. Please Jamie to set up a time to celebrate your success and compare your pre and post measurements. Remember that just because the challenge is over does not mean you need to change your lifestyle. Keep up the great work and the following 5 goals and make it a part of your life 365 days a year! 12 FITNESS/PILATES Highlighted Group Fitness News: Yoga class continues on Monday and Wednesday nights at 6pm in the downstairs studio as well as our NEW BOOMING Yoga class on SATURDAY mornings at 8:30am. Start the weekend out right with some Yoga to rejuvenate your spirit. Cardio is back for the weekend! Join us Saturday s at 9:45am for Cardio Weekend Warrior which is sure to get your heart rate up! Evening Cycle class remains on the schedule on Mondays at 6:00pm. Come join us and ride at night and you are sure to get a great night sleep afterward. Our additional Pump classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays will remain on the schedule at 11:00am. Come get your pump work out in before lunch and avoid the morning rush. Don t forget that we have a 5:30am pump class on Thursdays as well for those early morning Members! The new spin bikes are a big hit! Come try them out during one of our many cycle classes offered each week. Snow policy for Group Classes: If District 20 is closed or delayed there will be no morning fitness classes. The first fitness class of the day starts at 11:00am. Please call the Club 1 hour prior to any evening classes to check on the status of evening classes prior to assuming there is class in the event of adverse weather conditions. Please do not enter classes that have already started as this is very disruptive to the instructor and other Members. Please do not enter the room to get equipment, towels, etc. during class time. The Kids Cabin will remain open until 8:00 pm for the following event: Tuesdays for Men s Pick-up Basketball The Kids Cabin will remain open until 7:30pm for the following events: Tuesday and Thursdays for Karate Class The Kids Cabin will be open until 9:00pm on Wednesday April 17 for the Benzinger family Wine Dinner Date Night is offered Friday & Saturday nights 7:00-9:00pm while you dine in La Fortezza or the Tack Room. As an added benefit, Monthly Pass holders will not pay an additional charge. If you do not have a Monthly Pass, the fee per hour per child is $3.00. **Reservations are required no later than 12:00pm on the day of the reservation so we can staff appropriately. Based on availability we will accept reservations after this time (Please call the Kids Cabin to confirm). If reservations are not received, the Kids Cabin will close at our normal time. As usual children may stay in the Kids Cabin a maximum of 3 hours in a 24 hour period. 14

15 To Member Deb Gerken! Member Deb Gerken recently competed in the International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA) Copper Classic contest in Sierra Vista, Arizona. As an all-natural event, only those athletes who have never used performance enhancing drugs are allowed to compete in this national qualifying event. Competing in Heavy Weight division (over 125 pounds), she placed 1st in her division and as a result, faced the lightweight and middle weight division winners from the Master's category to determine the overall Master's Champion. Following a series of mandatory poses and spirited pose-off, Deb placed 2nd to the Sierra Vista native who went on to place 1st overall among all competing women bodybuilders. In preparation for the event, Deb has been working with Flying Horse trainer Mike Forsythe for the past year. Initially, she started training with Mike to improve overall physical fitness, but in August set a goal to compete in a bodybuilding contest. She is now working with Mike in preparation for the Colorado State Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships here in Colorado Springs on April 20th. 15
