3 PRESIDENT.....Florence Bell Hope you are having a great summer. Thank you all for continuing to support the class and attend our visitations. The more we support other clubs, the better attendance we have at our dances. Thanks to all who came early for our June dance to set up the hall. I attended the National Square Dance Convention held in Springfield Mass. in June. The New England clubs (4 states) worked together to put on a great convention. If you have never attended a National, please schedule one in the future. There are so many dancing choices, educational workshops, sewing and crafts, live band, and entertainment, that you will never be bored. It is fun to meet people from all over the world. Jim and Mary Aaspas are hosting our Concert in the Park in Huntington Beach on August 9th at 4:30. You will find further details in the Newsletter. We will be carpooling from the Board meeting at 3p.m. Meet us there if you wish. In fact, you can come to the board meeting which starts at 1p.m. I would like to thank, Ken Kemzura for doing such a great job decorating our hall. Make sure you check out the scrapbook of this year s activities. He always brings it to the Club dance. I'm sure you will see your picture in it. One of my favorite festivals will be coming up in Indio in November. We would like all Rustlers to register through our club. If we have 3 or more squares they will award us with $100 for our treasury. Hope you all are planning to attend. Our Treasurer will make the reservations for you. We are back to Marie Callender's on Brookhurst at 5:15 before the dance. We then set up the hall at 6:30. Please join us. VICE PRESIDENT.Carol Woodcock Hi Rustlers, The class is moving right along and the angel support has been really great. Thank you to all angels that have been coming on a regular basis. We can t thank you enough, and the class is most appreciative! We have a lot of plus calls to learn, and so we are extending our class time to 9:30 pm. This will help our class members learn the remainder of the calls, and give more floor time to angels who have just graduated in June. Please plan to stay until 9:30 pm so that we ensure that the class members have the support they need. Hi Rustlers, Carol VP Club Outfit We are so thankful that many of you have ordered your club outfits. We have received many compliments from those who have seen the outfits. We are now in the third wave of orders. We need 6 orders to start this wave. If you haven't ordered your new club outfit get your orders in as soon as you are able. Please contact Carol Woodcock or Karla Frias for more information. They will give you an order form and instruction sheet. Remember you need to pay the club $6.00 a yard for the print fabric and the call Marisca at Square Up Fashions to place your order. We look forward to showing off our new club outfit as dances! 5 Your Secret Reporter is back. Your Secret Reporter just loves a LOVE STORY. Did you know our member, Lyn Fuehrer and her dance partner, John McKinney, got married? I just found out too. They first met in 2012 while on a pilgrimage to Israel. After coming home, they found out that they attended the same square dance class. They became dance partners. In 2014, they went to Rome and other cities in Italy. As the clock struck midnight on Christmas Eve, John whispered in Lyn's ear: WILL YOU MARRY ME. The rest is history. They were married on April 18, 2015 in a very formal wedding at Holy Family Cathedral in Orange with the Bishop officiating with 5 other Priests on the Altar. They had a large reception at the Yorba Linda Country Club. After a 2 week honeymoon to Washington D.C., Lyn decided to take John in as a "paying" roommate. So far all is next to perfect--a most happy couple. John is a retired electrical engineer. He has his Masters and worked his way through college by doing odd jobs. Lyn is a retired accountant. They each have 3 children. John has a son and 2 daughters. Lyn had 5 children, but 2 oldest sons are deceased. She still has 1 daughter and 2 sons. John was raised on a farm in Kansas, and Lyn grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. Both John and Lyn were married 50 years to their deceased spouses. John has been a widow for4 years, and Lyn, a widow for 5 years. Both enjoy so many of the same things in food, dancing, baseball, family dinners, traveling, road trips and cruising. We all wish Lyn and John a happy life together. Your secret reporter, till next time. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONCERT IN THE PARK SUNDAY, AUGUST 9TH Please join us at Huntington Beach Central Park's Bandstand for the Concerts in the Park Summer Series on Sunday, August 9th. "The Wiseguys Big Band Machine" will be the performers beginning at 5pm. Bring a picnic basket if you'd like and a blanket or lawn chairs to sit in the shade and enjoy this fantastic, free entertainment served up in a bandshell. You can also bring grandkids, well-behaved pets, and a sweater too. Jim and Mary Martin Aspaas will be the Rustlers' hosts and you can look for them on the left side facing the bandshell beginning at 4:15.
