Like S p r i n g R e c i t a l G r o u p P i c t u r e s Spring Recital pictures are right around the corner! Our picture dates are scheduled for April 3 & 4. All class group pictures will be in our Spring Recital Program. Even if you don t plan on purchasing pictures, make every effort to be there for the group picture so your performer can be in the program. You will need your class costume to be in the group picture. If you haven t ordered your costume yet, place your order in the Studio Boutique ASAP. We are using Sunshine Photography. They do run picture day a little different than the previous companies that we ve had. Here s what to expect: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled picture time (schedule on pg 3) Arrive in your costume & ready for pictures (students in multiple classes will have changing spaces available) Everyone will get their individual picture taken as they enter the photo area; however, you are not required to purchase individual pictures. After the individual photo each student will receive an order form with 2 picture proofs on them so you can choose your photo. After the individuals are done the group shot will be taken. Dancing With My Guy Routine The theme we using for this routine is Rocky Top Square Dancing! That means we will have Western Wear all over the stage for this routine. This is complimentary and open to all the 2019 Spring Recital performers. There will only be 2 practices and a dress rehearsal. This routine performs in both the Mini Show and Jr/Sr Show. If you are interested, signup for free online (Saturday on the Fall/ Spring schedule) or in the Studio Boutique. IMPORTANT!!! This is real square dancing and everyone will be in groups of 8 (4 kids & 4 adults). You must be able to be at all 3 rehearsals (or have a stand-in) in order for your group rehearsal to be successful. Also, if you want to create a group of 8 (or partial group) contact info@sterlingsilverstudio.com so Carolyn doesn t put you in a different group of 8. You will create your own Western Wear costume for pictures on Thursday, April 4 and recital on Sunday, June 9. Once you are done with your group shot you are free to go. You can order your pictures that same day or turn in your order form to the front desk no later than Thursday, April 11. Recreational Classes Recreational students are not required to wear makeup but are welcome to. You can style your hair anyway you wish for pictures. Please keep costume accessories in mind. PAC & Corps All PAC, Sr. Parade Corps & Jr. Twirl Corps members are required to have full performance hair & makeup for PAC & Corps pictures. February s Valentine Dress-up! During the week of Valentine s, Feb wear anything Valentine. Wear clothing & accessories that have Hearts, Love, or the colors Red or Pink. Show Your Love! Notes from the Photographer: Parents, please make every effort to arrive early enough to be ready 15 minutes prior to picture time. Be prepared, do not wait until Photo Day to make those minor alterations, bedazzle, sew any items, etc. Make sure your dancer has everything they will need; all outfits and shoes, correct color tights, hair done, all makeup items and accessories, etc. It s never too early to begin getting ready. We ask that dancers and staff only enter the photography area. It is a challenging task to photograph groups of young people in a limited amount of time. Many younger children can be shy or anxious in a group photo setting and other kids become rowdy and wild. Adding a group of parents in the vicinity and other cameras begging for heads to turn undermine the job we are trying to do. Let us take the pictures on Photo Day. If this is the first time your child has been in front of The Big Lights, they will be OK and you will too! T U T C s S p r i n g F l i n g T a l e n t C o m p e t i t i o n The Ultimate Talent Connection s Spring Fling Competition will be held on March 23rd at Northwestern High School in Maple, WI. This is a locally sponsored dance and twirling competition with over 600 performers from throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan & North Dakota. This competition is open to all Sterling Silver Studio students and families. You can enter any of the fun event categories. Talk with your teacher if you are interested in participating in the Spring Fling. If you would like to experience a fun day of entertainment stop in! There will be performers all day long in the gym and the auditorium! There will also be fun shopping opportunities, concessions and more! The Performing Arts Student Scholarship (PASS) Foundation will be organizing dinners at the dance studio for dancers and their families. Starting January 28th through February 21st (possibly longer if there s interest), two Performing Arts Company (PAC) parents will be serving dinners Monday-Thursday from 5-8 pm at the studio. Dinner will be $5 per plate. Check out the PASS Foundation s Facebook page to see what s on the menu for the night! Dinners will only be served on nights that PAC parent s sign up for therefore dinners aren t guaranteed every night. 4 P a g e 4 F e b r u a r y N e w s l e t t e r PAC Team Auditions Sterling Silver Studio will be holding the Performing Arts Company (PAC) team auditions on Monday, August 5th with a required meeting at 6:00pm. Contact your student s instructor to see if he/she is ready to audition for the next PAC season. Prepare for auditions by attending spring & summer classes of the style you plan on auditioning for. Attend summer level camps and testing dates. * ATTENTION! FABULOUS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need volunteers before, during & after BOTH of the spring recital shows & rehearsals on June 6, 7 & 9. Contact the studio if you are interested in volunteering for any positions. We always need help...we wouldn t be able to present a large show like this if it wasn t for all of the fabulous volunteers! Recital Volunteers must sign up with the office staff in the Boutique. There are many positions available. If you are interested in volunteering for the spring recital, contact the studio at: info@sterlingsilverstudio.com Volunteers who sign-up before February 18 will have their names of the back of the spring recital shirt. The name list can not be changed after that date. There will be two meetings for all volunteers at the Studio. You only need to attend one. 1. Monday, April 15, 6:00 PM 2. Tuesday, April 23, 6:00 PM It is imperative to the success of the program that everyone meets this day to fully understand their role in the rehearsal and the show. On rehearsal & show dates, our focus must be on the performers, and all volunteers need to be prepared prior to these dates. * We do require level testing for twirl, jazz and acro PAC teams. These styles are currently the fastest growing teams in the studio. This requirement is not to hold anyone back or to keep anyone from auditioning. This is to build stronger teams by: 1. Encouraging students to excel to the next level of their skill and performance ability. 2. Ensuring each team member will be able to perform at a similar skill level 3. Guaranteeing that everyone knows all of the necessary skills to audition for that style of team. Contact us if you are interested and would like more information. V o l u n t e e r s N e e d e d At the volunteer meetings on April 15 or 23, you will receive all of the information on your position to ensure a smooth rehearsal & show, as well as your wristband that each volunteer is required to wear backstage. This is an additional measure that we take to help keep the event secure. Volunteers will need to be present to fulfill their jobs at the dress rehearsal AND Sunday show. Junior/Senior Rehearsal: Arrive by 3:30 on Thursday, June 6 at Wessman Arena. Rehearsal begins at 4:00. Mini Rehearsal: Arrive by 3:30 on Friday, June 7 at Wessman Arena. Rehearsal begins at 4:00. All volunteers need to be in place before students arrive for the show. Mini Show: Arrive before 10:00 AM on Sunday. June 9 at Wessman Arena. Show begins at 11:00. Junior/Senior Show: Arrive before 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 9 at Wessman Arena. Show begins at 3:00. Volunteering is a BIG responsibility, and everyone at Sterling Silver Studio would like to thank all of the parents and family members who volunteer at the shows to make them successful. You are the real unsung heroes of these large events! We also need some parents who would be willing to bring in some clean fun activities, games, TV s/movies, etc. for the dressing rooms to keep the kids entertained during the show. H a i r & M a k e u p W o r k - s h o p All Performing Arts Company (PAC) students, Sr. Parade Corps & Jr. Twirl Corps students are required to attend the workshop every year no matter how many years you have been attending the workshops This is so everyone can get a refresher course and so we can see your application techniques during the workshop. Be ready to practice and complete the full hair and makeup requirements when you are in the class. You will apply the makeup and fix hair right along with us. It's a good idea to bring a pen and paper to take notes if this is your first hair & makeup class. Workshop Days & Times: 1. All performers, parents, grandparents and family members are encouraged to purchase a recital shirt. Grand Finale rehearsals Wednesdays 4:00-5:00 at the studio. Jr/Sr Show: May 1 & 8 and Mini Show: May 15 & 22. The unisex shirt is black with a multi-color screen printed logo.
