All the time and effort that they put into making this a fun night was greatly appreciated. And, thank you to everyone who attended. You made the night very special to me. I encourage each of you to continue to spread the word about Lions, and to actively recruit new members, as well as to retain the members who have become less active and may be drifting away. We are the world s greatest service organization we have fun. Be persistent, keep asking; ask again; don t stop asking. The bigger our membership grows the more people we can help. Remember, more hands means more work gets done. By now your club has had your new officer elections and you have filed your PU101 report --- Right? Please make sure what you send in is correct information. This is where we gather the new officer information for the Roster Books and we want to make sure the information is correct. The Lions Leadership School (club officer training) will be held on June 6 th at the Bank of America Building at Delaware State University (see article in bulletin for more information). If you have not been to this type of training before, please attend. If you have attended before, please attend again as many things change from time to time --- and bring a new Lion with you. Right around the corner is our Multiple District 22 Convention. Get signed up, enjoy the fellowship, meet International President Joe Preston, attend seminars, support one of the biggest events of the year! Remember to bring a children s book with you! Ten months have just about gone by, but we still have a little over two months left and I am not going anywhere. Although visitations will be completed by the end of April, I am attempting to revisit as many clubs as possible as I go around with PDG Bob on his Leader Dog presentations. There still is much work to be done and the Lions of District 22D are daily changing lives, one person at a time. I am proud to be called your District Governor and I am proud to be working with you. We Serve Because We Care! Cheryl Jones, District Governor

2 Page 2 Issue 10 From Our Vice District Governors Cruise To Service First of all I am sorry that I could not make the 4 th Cabinet meeting, but I was too ill and didn t want to spread it to everyone. I would like to thank all the Lions that have stepped up to the plate for next year s cabinet and committee chairs. Let s continue serving this district with the same excellence we have done in the past. We have the convention coming up in May. I have a personal request for the Lions of 22 -D, please register for the convention and purchase the 50/50 tickets. The 50/50 ticket funds help us pay for the convention. Also by registering, let s fill Dover Downs to overflowing with LIONS so they see what a great service organization we are! 2nd VDG Glenn, Lion Charlie Taylor and myself are going together for the hospitality room this year because we can only get one suite. This will give Lions the opportunity to meet all three candidates for the next year at the same time. The last subject is membership ~ we need members to get back to 1300 members for District 22-D. As always, we need all hands on board to finish out the year with ROARING SUCCESS. Yours in Lionism, James R. Coverdale 1 st Vice District Governor 22 D LIONS The Power of Service to Others The 4 th Cabinet meeting on April 12 allowed cabinet members to speak about their year in office. All reports were upbeat and positive. As District Environmental Chairperson I had the honor of presenting Lion Patricia Disharoon from the Laurel Club with a Certificate recognizing her as the winner of the Environment Photo Contest. Her photo will be judged again at the International Convention. Good Luck and congratulations Lion Pat. I would like to say what an honor and privilege it was to be present with DG Cheryl at Legislative Hall for Delaware State Lions Day. Proclamations were presented in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. I am proud to be a Lion, especially a Lion from District 22D. I encourage everyone to sign up and attend the MD 22 convention in Dover. As part of the Centennial Challenge World Wide Service Week to help needy children the Council of Governors approved a service project to collect children s books. Please bring a children s book as part of this effort. Clubs will receive credit for the number of books donated by reporting to LCI. I look forward to seeing you at this year s MD 22 Convention. I would like to thank DG Cheryl and members of the Cabinet for their support and guidance this Lion Year. I am looking forward to many Lion service projects and activities this spring and summer. SVDG Glenn Williams

They listened to a presentation and got to meet 1-year-old Kacey, who received two gratis corneas. It was a day filled with learning, fun and laughs. We thank you for your visit! Below are pictures from the Wilmington Manor Lions Club as well as a photo of Kacey and her mother standing with Jerilyn Krawczyk, PR Manager at the Eye Bank. Over 48,000 Americans have their sight restored each year as a result of corneal transplants. Lions Eye Bank of Delaware Valley and its 82 sister eye banks across the country, provide the tissue that makes these lifeenhancing procedures possible. First proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, National Eye Donor Month promotes eye donation awareness and celebrates the lives of eye donors and corneal recipients. Serving the Delaware Valley community, the Eye Bank works 365 days a year to provide residents with the highest quality and safest corneal tissue available. There is no substitute for human tissue. The transplantation process depends upon the precious gift of cornea donation from one human to another. The function of corneal tissue is not dependent on blood type, age, strength of eyesight or the color of the eye. Individuals interested in eye, tissue, or organ donation should access their state registry through Lions Eye Bank of Delaware Valley s website at donor designation can also be made through state entities such as your department of motor vehicles. Governor Jack Markell and Representative Ed Osienski presented a tribute to Lions Eye Bank of Delaware Valley in honor of National Eye Donor Month in March, 2015.

25 BLOWING THE WHISTLE Page 25 Blowing the Whistle for 22D By Leo the Lion Article in DELAWARE BEACH LIFE magazine April 2015 pg 6 (Zone 1 Region 3) Each month I have tried to share some new thoughts in the 22-D District Bulletin. Many of these thoughts I have shared weekly with our local Lions Club and community. In past bulletins we have ''roared ''about ways of improving our public relations. We have mentioned upgrading the round Lions Sign as you enter your community, use of your mascot in events and weekly news articles in your local paper by your mascot. The area we have not'' roared ''about is the computer. Now that is something to think about. In today's world the use of the computer is a must. Facebook is a great way to become a public relation tool. It gives you the opportunity to communicate with a whole new network of people and other Lions. If you would look on Barry Palmers Facebook you will see a picture of a lion leaping though the air. On the photo you will see the words ''Harness the Power of Face book', Like, Comment and Share. More people interacting with our Facebook means many more people receiving our updates. Reach more people. Raise our profile. Now that is again '' Blowing The Whistle for Lionism'' as D.G. Cheryl says. In my world it is lots to ''ROAR'' about. Look at many Lions Club Facebook pages and Like,Comment and Share. Pat & Fred Disharoon Public Relations Co-chairs
