1 BAKEWELL MARKET Monday 15 th October With the weather starting to look like back end there was a full house at Bakewell with a total of 990 Cattle and 1,961 Sheep on offer. The 675 strong Store and Breeding Cattle section included several consignments of Cows with Calves. Buyers had been kept informed of the special entries and were out in force. Steers sold to 1,240, Heifers 1,185 and Feeding Bulls 860. The Breeding Cattle department amounted to 155 head and Cow & Calf outfits topped at 1,680. In the Finished Cattle Section 92 animals sold well to top figures of 244p and 1,4435. The 43 Heifers forward averaged 191.6p which indicates a good solid trade. OTM & Feeding Cow numbers back a shade at 102, trade little changed with top figures of 182p and 1,178 to average Calves this week, Bulls selling to 392 with Heifers 268. In the Sheep section trade for the 1,336 Lambs was no better with the best on offer to 210p and per head. The SQQ average was pence, less than the equivalent market in The Cull Ewe section had attracted 608 head with trade only steady except for the best.
