There where great skills displayed in the dewy conditions and some tuff contests for the ball on the ground... good effort all. The U7 played particularly well through the centre when Oscar, Felix, Issac & Lucas combined well. Our Auskicker of the week from round 13 was Oscar Carrick. Oscar was hungry for the ball and displayed his ever improving skills... well done Oscar. U9 RED MirandaU9Redvs.MirandaU9Black LincolnOval,Sutherland% U9 BLACK % MirandaU9Blackvs.MirandaU9Red LincolnOval,Sutherland This week Bombers Black were the away team playing the local derby at home against Bombers Red. The game was close early before Bombers Black got on top. Despite very limited training opportunities over the last 4-6 weeks the boys have continued to improve their skills, decision making, positional play and game sense. The game was enjoyable to watch, although a little congested at times on a field that is on the small side when playing more than 9 a side matches.

6 We played without one of our most passionate players Aaron who missed with illness, but was there on the sideline supporting the team. The team wishes him a speedy recovery. We ll see you playing better than ever next year Aaron and in the mean time you ll be a handy addition to the coaching team Callum Smith was our captain this week. He was tasked to concentrate on his positional play, to occupy dangerous space and to support team mates at the contest. He delivered and received the Coaches Award for his efforts. Lachlan S had his best game of the year last week, until this week that is, when he improved again. In his first year of footy Lachlan has understandably taken a little while to gain the confidence to increase his involvement, but he really seems to have turned the corner in recent weeks and will enjoy his footy even more now he s getting his hands on the footy more often. This was demonstrated during this match when Lachlan won a contested possession, beat a player and kicked to the advantage of a team mate. Nick, James and Billie continued to support their teammates and after starting half way through the season are continuing to learn the game. Their challenge now is to transfer that learning to action, increased involvement and as a result have even more fun. Lachlan H also had a solid game, running well in support and to space. He reads the play well and is particularly good at intercepting long opposition kicks. He competed well around the ground and kicked a good goal. Lachy H is coming along nicely, doing particularly well for a first year player and has plenty of upside. Hunter was yet again hard at the contest whether the ball was in the air or on the ground and won the ball more often than not. Hunter participated in some extra training focussed teaching him how to kick across his body to present disposal options other than the standard straight drop punt when under tackling pressure. Hunter exceeded expectations and implemented his new skill with great effect during the match. Oh, and 6 goals wasn t a bad return for the day either Jack continued to impress with his willingness at the contest and his work rate around the ground. He used his speed to great advantage running hard in attack to support team mates and to present as an option to receive the ball. He tackled like a demon all day, made good decisions and kicked 3 goals to top of a big game. Ryan continued to perform at a very high level and is consistently amongst the best players. Ryan carried a niggling injury into the match, but pushed through to produce another solid effort. He won plenty of ball and while playing more in defence this week organised team mates well, laid a number of important tackles and demonstrated good skills and decision making. This week we again welcomed our an U8 Noah into the team for another development opportunity. He was joined by U8 team mate Mitchell this week. These boys both made solid contributions and hit the score board with a point each for their efforts.

7 U10 MirandaU10vs.Ramsgate LincolnOval,Sutherland % It was nice to play some footy in the sun this week although the ground was still a little heavy. Unfortunately we missed training again this week as the grounds were closed but this didnt effect the boys too much this week, apart from kicking for goal Playing at home against Ramsgate in another good even contest, we were the better team on the day although didnt really convert our dominance on the scoreboard. The team was captained today by Sam and Kai, 2 first year players for the club. Sam responded with his best game of footy so far, getting involved, competing hard and in the second quarter taking a really nice mark and then hitting his target with a nice pass. Kai has been a very consistent performer for the team over the season and today was no exception. His attack on the ball was first class and particularly when playing back he repelled a number of Ramsgate attacks. In the first quarter we were running down the hill and after a bit of an arm wrestle for the first part of the quarter the game started to open up. Our centres started to get on top with Ethan and Kye providing plenty of drive. Unfortunately we just could quite get the ball through the big sticks, Tom, Noah G, Liam M and James all getting a shot on goal during the quarter but not with much luck including a couple of posters. In the second quarter it was much tighter with Ramsgate getting on top in the middle and doing all their scoring for the day in that quarter. Our backline did battle hard with Noahs B and G tackling hard. Jobe, Ben and Aidan, along with our captain Sam worked their way back into the contest in the centre and we looked dangerous going forward where Ethan and Kai were dangerous. Again we just couldnt quite impact the scoreboard. The third quarter we were running down the hill again but unfortunately it was a bit more of the same with us not being able to take advantage of our dominance in general play. The two Noah plus Tom and James were dominating in the middle, Kye was tackling everything in defence and Ethans ability to read the play across half back really impacted the game. Up forward Jobe and Ben were getting plenty of the footy we just couldnt kick a goal. Aidan and Sams forward defensive pressure was fantastic in the quarter. Going into the last quarter, the game was pretty much even, with our scoring being all behinds. We were kicking up the hill so the boys were challenged to be first to the footy and hit their targets. They responded with their best quarter of the year (I was reminded by one of the boys that I say that a lot but it is a reflection of continued improvement). This was a complete performance across the field with everyone contributing. Importantly we stuck to our structures with our centres staying in position so whenever Ramsgate cleared from their defence we had Ethan, the 2 Liams and Kai chopping everything off. If it did get past them Jobe was fantastic at half back with Ben using his pace to run down a couple of fast breaks. Aidan has also really improved and his defensive work in the quarter was fantastic. What was also really pleasing was much better use of the football going forward with a number of nice pieces of play. James took a great contested mark and hit Noah G on he chest who only just missed a shot at goal. Ethan hit Tom and Noah G with some lovely passes. Liam C used the ball well also. Tom was a terrier up forward and finally we did manage to score a goal through Tom. Noah B was fantastic in the quarter playing forward and along with Tom was the award winner for the day. Noahs second and third efforts were outstanding and a number of times we just willed the ball towards our goal with great persistence. Overall this was a great performance from the boys and hopefully we can get some training in this week to build on the fantastic effort that we get from these boys every week. A bit of goal kicking practice will also be handy

Under sunny blue skies, a bit of wind and overall a great day for footy, the Under 14 Bombers came out and played some great footy against good opposition. Our team had not beaten this Ramsgate team in 2 years and last season they belted us by over 100 points in both games played. At the start of this season we held the lead for 3 quarters but let Ramsgate come over the top of us for a 7 point loss. To the credit of this great team, they did not let that happen again and learnt from earlier in the season and they played 4 very good quarters of footy. It just goes to show how much this team has progressed throughout the season and they are now playing some attractive AFL footy and hitting targets with hand passes and kicks. They have really bonded as a team and are really putting in for each other out on the ground and living our creed of effort, belief, commitment. The whole team again played exceptionally well and every member of the team should be proud of their efforts but some efforts of note on the day were:- Aidan Selcraig - Was the "Player of the Week" for Round 13. Aidan is one of our quiet achievers in the team. He gets in and does his work without any fuss and always gives his best each week. Aidan was great on the weekend in the back line, he attacked the ball and helped turn around many Ramsgate offensive raids. One memorable cut off by Aidan lead to the ball being turned over to Miranda against a number of opposition players and the team took the ball down field and we scored a goal. Great play Aidan. Josh "Dutchy" Hollands - Dutchy again put in a polished performance which saw him gather a lot of possessions and really add value around the ground in the mid field and then up forward. Even though he was feeling a bit under the weather, Dutchy dug deep and really put in and his efforts paid off. Great work Dutchy Tim Manchester - Had a really good game through all four quarters. I challenged Tim positionally throughout the game and he answered each challenge with class and good footy. He started the first quarter in the ruck and then moved to the forward line in the second quarter and kicked two classy goals. For the third and fourth quarter Tim played in the back line and he did a fantastic job. His versatility is a real asset to our team. Good work Tim.

9 Jay Scarra - Again played a great game through the mid field. His speed is awesome and in attack and defence the opposition has no answer to Jay and his pace across the ground. He gathered a lot of possessions and used them very well. He adds value to the team every week, great work Jay. Tom Simpson - Simmo was awesome on Sunday. Played his best game for the season and was almost unstoppable off half back flank. Simmo attacked the ball with ferocity and on a number of occasions he burst through packs of Ramsgate players with power and speed and left the opposition clutching at thin air and turned defence into attack. Great game Simmo, keep that form going. Luke Kendrick - Played in the forwards in the first quarter and was a good target for the team. Rucked for the next three quarters and did an awesome job. Constantly won the ball out of the centre for the Bombers and then was very good around the ground. Luke gets in and at the ball around the ground and for someone with his height that is great to see. He is always prepared to bend his back and get his head over the ball which helps the team. Keep it going Luke. Zac Fraser - Returned to the team this week unexpectedly as we thought we had lost Zac for the season with a finger injury. Played the full game with a specially made splint and showed his class on the footy field even after a number of weeks away from the game. Great to have you back Zac, your play through the midfield is exceptional and the team seems to stand taller when you are there Kaleb and Raf again worked well in the forward line and were always in and at the ball. Raf did a job in the back line for me which was great as he is always willing to take on a challenge without complaint. Kaleb is another quiet achiever in the team who always puts in and never stops trying. One small piece of play that he did that wont necessarily get noticed was when he put his head over the ball in a contested pack scenario and very intelligently knocked it clear to a Bomber player who was then able to get clear with a good possession. Great work Kaleb. Mitch and JP were also good options in the forward line all game. We lost Alex Box, at centre half forward in the second quarter for the game which was a big loss but Jake Bennie slotted in beautifully to centre half forward and proceeded to kick two goals which was a great effort. Will Straker did a great job through the midfield either in the centre or on the wing. He has become a very valued member of our team with his good play. Ryan Dunkerly did some good work off the wing and Trav Harvey kicked a good goal off half forward and was a good target all game. Harro continued his good form and did some great work out of the centre and forwards and even under the duress and pain of his ongoing leg issues he pushes through that and is running better than I have seen him for a long time. Good work Harro. Nick Hooker was great across the forward and back lines and was in and at the ball all game. Jordan Walsh at fullback and Will Corcoran at back packet both had great games. They were solid as rocks with their defensive play and both boys really attacked the ball and never gave the opposition any easy ball. Steven Salom and Tim Everitt were also very good across our half back line and were attacking the ball at all times and both gathered a lot of possessions throughout the game in good displays of AFL footy. I want to thank all the parents and supporters for coming along to barrack for the team. Lyn Harvey did a tremendous job as manager. Brendan Scarra and Sean Parmenter did awesome jobs as runners. Stu Kensitt was great helping me coach the team and Tom Bramley and Will Harrison both did a mighty job delivering water to the team. Jason Box did a great job as ground manager, Nicky Bennie was time keeper and Rob Harvey did a great job as boundary umpire. David Bramley was also good with the flags behind goals and Colleen Hooker was excellent as first aid for both teams. Everyones help and support was very much appreciated and for the parents who did canteen/bbq duties on the day I am very thankful as this is critical for the club to function. Go the Bombers Cheers, Chris

Our first time against the Magpies and it was great to see the classic bombers colours on the park up against the black and white stripes. Our boys started slow but found their straps after a while and won the first quarter. They were asked to up their efforts in the second and jumped the pies to be nearly 50 points up at the long break. The second half saw the Bombers kick away to be more than a hundred ahead by the end. Uncompromising and skilled footy by our players, an absolute pleasure to watch the team orientated game play, extraordinary feats and game changing efforts of which my favourites for each player were. Harrys first half and 2 goals deep forward setting the win up like a champ. Hunters pin point passing in the third from half back like a pro. Paddys dominance in the centres in the second half kicking goals and getting the ball to dangerous places. Ben Lambs 5 goals through the game playing positions all over the park with class. Tylers scissor kick deep froward and that barrel to Dom over the top so he could run in to an open goal. Dom as a dominating half forward and his amazing mid air soccer goal. Ben Fuller able to do the 1%s like spoiling and relieved in the ruck for Ryan even with an injury. Ryans enforcing through the game against a tough opposition and his dominance in the ruck. Rileys dominance deep forward in the last quarter to mark, goal and contest. Peter deep back and deep forward attacking the ball at every contest with class. Seb in the centres in the third quarter put his mark on the game with hard ball gets and classy disposals. Zack had a run on the wing in the first quarter and combined with Paddy for a goal via a great unselfish hand pass. Julian showed all how to kick a set shot in high wind from the pocket in the third quarter. Joels run and ball control on the wing and half forward many times through the game. Liams goal punted perfectly after a gut run to get to the right position in the V. Josh deep forward in the second quarter attacking contests and looking dangerous. Jack performing as a winger in the first half running the patterns to pick up possessions and contesting the hard ball gets. Ben Challens run off half back in the first quarter and an amazing barrel from the wing right onto the chest of his captain. Matt performed his classy skills back, forward and in the centres through the whole game. Lachlan took a great mark forward and nearly beat 5 opponents on half back at one point after a quick kick deep back. Today we missed Troy, David and Brandon with injury. Brandon had soreness from playing seniors the day before. As a note our captain Ben Lamb made his seniors debut for St George on saturday, congrats to our boys playing under 19s heres hoping a number go on to senior footy in the years to come. Much thanks to our supporters and helpers on the day with special mentions to Chook, Peter, Chris, John, Lisa, Sarah, Michael,Frank and the Stokes and Cox-Lamb family for helping out on the BBQ and canteen to cover others. Go Bombers Cam
