You need to get your photo orders into your manager and your manager needs to forward on to Skye by this Friday 17th August. You also need to BRING YOUR TROPHIES DOWN TO THE CLUB ASAP. If your trophy is not delivered by this weekend then there may not be time to engrave it before Presentation day (and would need to be done later). Doing the trophies is a huge task and I ask that you ensure your trophy is returned ASAP. The END OF SEASON presentation/break up is on Sunday 9th September, starting at approx. 4.30pm for the U6 U11 s and 5.30pm for the U12 U16 s (more details to follow). So please SAVE THE DATE. Finally I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to those that came along to the BOGAN BINGO night!! We didn t get quite the numbers there that we wanted but the night was still a HUGE SUCCESS. A typical comment that I ve heard from many people about the night is that they Haven t had laughed like that in ages!!. Another real bonus for the night was the how our new (hopefully) major sponsor managed to show a few of his wares for all of us to observe and admire!! 2 Match Reports U8 Kenmore Gold vs Griffith Moorooka Coach: Mark Spry Manager: Lucinda Bowman U8 Kenmore Green vs Sherwood Magpies The U8 Green boys played their final game of the season (thanks to a bye in the final round) so coach Andrew thought that a quick season wrap up of each player was timely. Magnus: Dubbed Mr Serious by coach Andrew, Magnus, who joined the team halfway through the season is always focused on winning the ball. He reads the play well and in the final game of the season took what could only be described as mark of the year. Luke: Unfortunately Luke is moving interstate with his family so the boys gave him 3 cheers on Saturday. Luke is a powerful kicker of the ball and is best remembered for his 5 goals in a quarter game against Sherwood a couple of weeks ago. Mitch: Mitch joined us from the U6's halfway through the season and slotted into the team well. He's a great runner and when playing down back has been instrumental in evading his opponents and clearing the ball out of the danger zone. Max: Max has been one of the most improved players this year. He has gained a reputation as a hand ball master and in the latter half of the season his kicking has got better and better. Aidan: This is Aidan's second year in the Under 8's and he continues to work hard at his game. His kicking efficiency has been great this year and he has a good understanding of the game and it's tactics. Jay: Jay takes the prize for the toughest player in the team. He never gives up trying and always puts his body on the line. His second and third efforts at the ball have been fantastic and always gets up with a smile on his face. Harry: With 2 player of the match awards this season Harry has shown marked improvement this season. Harry's our tallest player and uses his height to his advantage. He's a good runner and has a nice kick on him. Hamish: Has had a great season and works really hard to get to the ball first. He reads the ball well and his best work has been his clearances in the midfield. Thom: Thom has a great pair of hands on him and is a confident marker of the ball. He's a great team player and has a great competitive nature Coach: Andrew Treacy Manager:

3 U9 Kenmore Green vs Wests Juniors Round 14 and the Green team were ready for another Friday night special. Given the cold and slippery conditions and the strong win, the boys decided to focus on playing in front and getting first to the ball. Captain Will R led the team in a low scoring, tight game of hard contested footy, dominated by that strong wind towards the Western end. Will revved the boys up in the opening quarter with some great defensive pressure to lock the ball in our forward line time and time again, but goals were hard to come by into that wind. His Captains role directing play from centre half back was akin to a Harley, Maxwell or Henderson. Paddy also started up front, but it was his brilliant defence in the second and his drive through the middle in the second half that will be most remembered, including a couple of nice grabs and some great link up work with Owen, Lachlan and Alex. Alex put in his usual half marathon covering every inch of the field, always moving forward and winning his own ball at the stoppages. Eyes only for the ball, he put his body on the line time and time again. Simply never beaten to the ball. Nor was Oliver, who was his attacking best, not only securing the ball, but finding space to get a handball to an outside player, making this ruck rover a much more damaging player. In the third Will G moved forward to create a focal point, but it simply was not the scoring end of the ground. A few shots at goal were visibly held up in the wind, dropping short of the line. Up back, his ability to fill a gap or stop a goal on the last line of defence is uncanny. His team work with Dylan was outstanding. The speedy rover was able to pounce on any ball that hit the ground and move it forward time and time again. His field kicking is the most improved of any player this year. A shot at goal in the second from the angle narrowly missed. Lachlan s opening quarter was as tough as you ll ever see from this hard man. In the last he broke through packs three times, unfortunately twice being called for running too far as he strolled into goal, but on the third slotting the major. Also playing the hard man this week was Zander. His third quarter work at the stoppages was highlighted by a triple effort to stop Wests gaining possession on the wing. He just doesn t give up. Whether up front or deep in defence, Charles could be found at the bottom of the pack wrestling for possession, and his slick handball off to Owen in the third was times to perfection. As was Ethan s defensive move in the second when he kept the pressure on the ball carrier, eventually earning the free for incorrect disposal. His tackling has really improved. Owen played out of skin, creating clearance after clearance through the centre, taking great defensive grabs down back, and slotting two wonderful goals in the second, including a 30m set shot that caught everyone by surprise except Coach Searls who thought that tail wind would help bring it home. Player of the match went to a running Xavier, who was instrumental at the stoppages, using his height and leap to advantage, and then popped up in the last quarter with two fine goals, both from creating space with nice fend offs. The boys sang the song with gusto, knowing that there was only one more chance this year for the Bears to roar. This week we travel to Sherwood to take on the Black team at 10AM. 4 U10 Kenmore Green vs Jindalee Coach: Andrew McMutrie Manager: George Farrington U10 Kenmore Gold vs Springfield Lakes Coach: Daniel Wayne Assistant: Dean Wayne Manager: Natalie Luhrs U11 Kenmore/Moggill vs Sherwood This week we travelled over the Walter-Taylor Bridge to play the Sherwood Magpies in their home territory. We welcomed back Mitch Lake for the day but Morgan & Lachlan were not able to play. Our last encounter with the Magpies was a pretty difficult one and Saturday s game started out in the same vain with them swooping us early to establish a strong position. However in a measure of how far our team has come over the season we were able to respond to this and mount a fight back particularly in the second half with three goals. A big part of this was following instructions on how best to deal with a tricky strong breeze that enable us to get the ball into attacking positions. Our biggest area of improvement was putting the Magpies under pressure when they had the ball with great tackling and chasing to make those first efforts really count. We also defended magnificently with a number of players who were in the forwards last week showing great determination and versatility by doing a great job in defence this week. With a few positional moves we started to get first use of the ball and really surprised Sherwood by moving the ball into a forward line and keeping it there. This constant pressure eventually lead to some scoring opportunities and in the second half we finally had some rewards on the score board. There are not too many U11 teams running around this year who would have kick two goals in a quarter against Sherwood. Our joint Captains of the week were the dynamic duo Rourke & Alex. Rourke started the day of well by applying his own logic win the toss and give us first use of the ball! He then followed this up with another great effort on the field to lead from the front all day. Not to be out done, Alex was also doing well up forward and always kept the pressure on his opponent when required. He was also the most vocal in leading the post-game celebrations. A special mention to the Captains who showed great leadership in starting off from the bench this week. Jack S was in the thick of things again this week really running hard to make the contest at one stage running 40m to take on 3 Magpies by himself! Daniel made a great return from illness with his characteristic strong attack on the ball and telling tackles to put the Magpies under pressure early. Mitch Lake put in a stellar running performance moving all over the field to put the Magpies under continual pressure and picking loads of possessions himself and was rewarded with a couple of great goals. Hopefully any Taipan officials present were taking notes! Oliver, after a couple of goals last week, demonstrated his great versatility this week by doing a great job at full-back with penetrating kickouts and great contesting for the ball particularly early on. Josh showed that height is not the most important attribute to be a great ruckman by continually taking on much taller opponents with great success and was also influential up forward and around the ground. Jack P played another first rate game this week, doing a great job on the ball included a top goal but also slotting back in to centre-half back to help a tiring defence out. Fred another top class effort this week with terrific and continuous attack on the ball across the whole oval. Nicholas was on the move a lot again this week to give us a push where and when we needed it mostly from a number of key positions, followed up by long kicking to our advantage. Mitchell continued his consistent run of good form across half-back and forward giving the Magpies plenty to think about. Tyler tried hard for the whole game and was continually trying to inject himself into the play. Jessie

5 was one of our best players this again week with many telling possessions and strong tackling to put the opposition under the pump. Wil was another of our forward who moved into defence to help out this week, another top effort despite an injury forcing him off the field for a spell. Harry G put in another top effort across half-back really taking it to the Magpies at every opportunity. Jack H was again in action this week following a move to defence with excellent pace, strong contesting and tackling it was one of the best performances by a back pocket you ll ever see. Demonstrating that any position can be attacking with the right attitude. Thanks to Steve for team management duties. Thanks to Jason (runner), Adam & Steve (water) and Mark (goals).
