Crystal Colbaugh-Maddie Lawrence,CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI HIGH SCHOOL 6-2, 6-2; The Cardinal girls tennis team traveled to Elk River Saturday and came home with two wins and a loss. In the first match of the day the lady Cards defeated St. Paul Harding 5-2. The Cards got wins from Laura at second singles where she found herself down a set before she battled back to win the second set and a third set breaker to claim the point. Our other singles win came from Sarah Jiang at fourth where she dominated winning in straight sets. We got a sweep of the doubles lineup with Madison & Abby at first, Joria & Kaylee at second, and Taylor & Whitly at third. All won in straight sets with no one losing more than four games in a set. The second match was against Cambridge Isanti and the Cards won 4-3. A very tight match where we won two singles matches and two doubles matches. In singles Laura had a tight match at second where she battled and won in two close sets. Annie lost a hard fought match at third in three sets. It was a roller coaster ride as she lost the first set before winning the second set easily but fell way behind in the third set breaker, made a run, but came up just short. Sarah won at fourth singles giving up just three games. Joria & Kaylee won handily at second doubles, as did Taylor & Whitly at third. The third match of the day was against the host Elk River Elks and the Elks put an end to four game win streak the Cards were on. Our lone win came from our first doubles team of Madison & Abby where they played solid and started strong winning the first set, the second set was close but they lost 4-6. In the third set breaker they fell behind 2-5, but then made a run and won eight of the next 11 points. Sarah had a close match at fourth singles, but came up short losing 3-6, 4-6. It was a great day for the girls and they played some very good tennis against three teams they have never played before. Our goal for the day was to be solid in every aspect of the game, and to compete as hard as we knew how. I was so impressed with the way the girls fought and continued to improve as the day went along. I truely believe we came home a better team because of this day. We improve to 11-5 overall and play host to a tri ontuesday with Detroit Lakes and Sartell coming to town. CROSS COUNTRY Rocori Invite Most of the sports today didn t happen due to weather in the area. In Rocori we had a very rainy day that started off with a wet Jr. High race and after that came some lightning, so after everyone getting on the bus and the lightning subsided and we did the mandatory 30 min wait, the race officials saw that we could get in one HUGE race (all JV boys and girls and all Vasity boys and girls) Was a great compromise to get the meet in with some great results. We came to compete at the River Oaks Golf Course in Rocori. The times overall usually are not as fast as the previous week, But Alexandria came to run with 11 season bests for the Girls and 14 season best for the Boys. It was awesome to watch the Alexandria teams having fun out there in the rain and competing in the wet weather, it was a race no one will forget. Lots of things happening at this meet with packing it up and building on our season goals as we continue to grow as a team.

3 BOYS CROSS COUNTRY Our boys varsity and junior varsity raced well. Our varsity ended up 2nd to Willmar who is in our conference. So fun to watch Noah Struck, Dane Galloway, and Jacob Kleven lead the boys and have Great races! The junior varsity boys runners gave a great effort and improved their season. It was fun to see many of the runner capturing their goals and have a great race two weeks in a row! Some Great races by Bennet Wirth, Joel Brault, Cameron Hochsprung, Noah Huss, Nate Halstead, Evan Schneiderhan, and Levi Rekedal with over a 30 second improvement from last week. Way to go boys! The girls believed in themselves and pushed through with tough races in the rain. The girls Varsity team took 2nd just barely edging out Rocori who is in our section. The JV team had no scores due to us just having one race. The girls Team had Aleah Miller, Heavyn Bordak, Sam Regar, Julia Brito, Cate Bloom and Carly Wiire have over a 20 second season best. Stormy Hegg battled out there and showed how tough she is along with Caitlin Bright, Amanda Bittmann, Jaeylyn Miller and Bethany Miller putting in a great effort. Way to go ladies!
