3 Note of Welcome On behalf of Vanier College, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 30th Provincial basketball AAA Championship. The winning team will have to honor to represent the F.Q.S.E. at the Canadian College Athletic Association Championships which will be held from March 13 th 15 th 2008 at Nova Scotia Agricultural College ( women) and at Champlain College in Quebec (men). In this document, you will find pertinent information on the championship as well as information regarding your team that must be completed and returned before February 5 th. Depending on your needs, I invite you to reserve your hotel rooms as soon as possible since with the school break, it is possible that the hotels get booked quickly. Reservations should be done in advance and can be cancelled without penalty at the end of the season if your team does not qualify for the tournament. As soon as you arrive at the College a member of the welcome committee will greet you at the sports complex and will give you the information package for your team. We wish for an exciting championship and best of luck to all the participating teams. We will do our best to meet all your needs while your team is participating in the Championship and encourage you to approach any of our volunteers or organizing committee members if there is anything that we can help you with. 5 Pertinent Information Competition site Athletic coordinator : Mireille Béland Telephone : (514) ext E mail : belandm@vaniercollege.qc.ca Championship site : Admision Spectators will need to pay 8 $ per adult and 5 $ per students per day in order to access the stands in the gymnasium. Championship passes are also available for 20 $ per adult and 12 $ per students all three days. Children of 12 years and under will have free access to the site. A pass will be given to each athlete and coaches participating in the championship. V.I.P. Lounge A V.I.P. lounge will be available to coaches, athletic directors, referees and V.I.P. s throughout the duration of the championship. Only people who are accredited will be allowed to use the lounge. Drinks and snack food will be available. Parking Parking is located right in front of the Sports Complex. Parking will be free as of Friday 3 p.m. for the remainder of the weekend. For Friday during the day before 3 p.m. the cost is 6 $ per car. 5

6 Locker rooms For each game, each of the teams will be assigned to a locker room and warm up room. The warm up room will also be the meeting room before the game. At half time and post game, each team will be assigned to a racquetball court adjacent to the lobby which will be prepared for a team meeting. Athletic therapy The sports injury clinic is located on the second floor of the building. The room as well as its equipment will be available for the athletic therapist of the respective teams. However, no service or material will be supplied by Vanier College. Each team must bring its own first aid and taping material. Lodging Teams from the championship are encouraged to reserve at: Marriot Courtyard Montreal Airport 7000 Place Robert Joncas Montreal, Québec H4M 2Z The rate is $ per room from single to quadruple occupancy. You must reserve by February 14 th. Reservations should be done in advance and can be cancelled without penalty at the end of the season if your team does not qualify for the tournament. Services at the hotel include interior pool, whirlpool and exercise room. Banquet The banquet will be held on March 1st at 7 p.m. on the College campus. It will be held at the Student Mall in building F on the ground floor. The price per ticket is 30 $ and will be billed to your College. Restaurants Many restaurants are located near the College. Please do not hesitate to ask our staff for referrals. Cantine There be a food cantine on location which will be open for the duration of the Championship. Hot and cold food and beverages will be available. 6

7 DVD All games will be filmed and each team will receive a DVD copy of the game after its completion. Program A souvenir program will be printed and available for all at no cost.
