2 Greens & Grounds Happy new year from the G&G team! The team has been very busy in January working on a major bunker renovation project. Temperatures have cooled off a bit from December, but the lack of snow has allowed us to keep the momentum going and make significant progress. With this renovation we are adding the Better Billy Bunker lining system. To accomplish this correctly, you must follow the 5-S s: shell, shape, stone, spray, and sand. Shell first step is to remove all sand from the bunker. Shape make any modifications to the shape, size, or depth. Stone add a minimum 2 of stone to the bottom of each bunker covering all drainage lines. Spray apply polymer liner and let cure for 24 hrs. Sand add 6 of sand that will be compacted to 4. Currently we have 14,500 ft2 of bunker complete and half full of sand. There is another 13,500 ft2 of bunker that is full of stone and ready for polymer installation. Remaining polymer installation will take place when temperatures get above freezing for three consecutive days. Once that is complete all bunkers will be filled with the appropriate amount of sand. Once that happens, we will start on accessory clean-up and shop organization. One thing we don t want to do is have any other projects going when the weather allows us to get back to bunker work. Spring will be extremely busy for us, as we will be looking to quickly wrap up any bunker work, start cultural practices, and get the course ready for play. 3 Monty s River Grille Dear Members, From the Food & Beverage Team, we all hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season. We have a lot of excitement happening in our operation over the Spring Season. On February 6th we will be hosting our second Wine Club dinner of This month will feature wines from Michael David Winery, from the Lodi region of California. The menu will feature a New American twist on classic, hearty winter dishes. The following week, for Valentine s Day, we will be serving a Three Course Prix-Fixe dinner for $48 per person. We have debuted a new dinner menu for Tuesday nights. Each Tuesday, thru March, we will be offering a Specialty Roast Dinner featuring slow cooked roast, pot pie and fish along with a salad for $ This is in addition to our Burgers and Brews on Wednesdays, Pasta Night on Thursdays, and Prix Fixe on Fridays and Saturdays. As the Winter Season continues, we here at the Club are hard at work getting ready for The Valentine s Day Romance Dinner menu has been completed and it is something Chef Mike and his team are thoroughly excited about. Along with that, planning and development of the Spring Menu is underway. Two themes will be permeating the menus throughout the season, local ingredients with the influence of Mediterranean Cuisine. The Chefs are planning on teaming up with numerous local farms, as well as extending their work in our own garden. Taking our belief in freshness to a whole new level! The Mediterranean Diet has said to be one of the most popular ways of eating. It concentrates on ancient and wholesome grains, protein from fish, nuts, & beans, and vegetable packed dishes. This style of cooking and eating, combined with our plans of the farms and gardens, will keep the menu and specials light, healthy, always interesting and evolving. Our plan on using this cuisine for inspiration is to keep the menu simple, light, and more importantly, delicious and fresh. 22 Event Planner Corner Dear Members, Great River had a very successful and busy event season, hosting a little over 125 events in 2018! We held numerous weddings, baby & bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, corporate meetings, holiday parties and other special milestone celebrations including bar/bat mitzvah s, retirement, reunions, anniversary and birthday party events. Many of you may have seen couples getting ready to tie the knot or the ballroom beautifully decorated in anticipation of a special event. Our guests have enjoyed the picturesque setting of the golf course including the gazebo and breezeway as an amazing backdrop to their event. In addition, we ve also received many accolades from our guests for the excellent service and overall positive experience at the club, which we are very proud of!
