The Chairman Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Rider Michael Dee reported the gelding settled further forward than anticipated after beginning well and being caught wide. Race 6 STIRLOCH BM70 HANDICAP metres: The Tinker Trainer Byron Cozamanis was fined $50 for presenting the gelding in the mounting yard without a tongue tie which is part of the approved gear. Slow to begin. Near the 300 metres was steadied and shifted out when tightened for room between Maconsilia and Reticent (NZ), which was being eased out of the event. White Devon Commenced awkwardly. Rider Michael Walker reported the gelding was fractious in the barriers and did not begin cleanly, however he was able to race forward and comfortably obtain the lead position. He added that he had been instructed to put his mount into the race from the 900 metres, however, shortly after doing so the gelding was under pressure. Race 7 THE NEXTRA MOE CUP metres: Master Zephyr (GB) Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival on course and was passed suitable to race. Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Race 8 IMAGE DIRECT BM64 HANDICAP metres: Brouhaha Shortly after the start checked when tightened for room between Crisis Point, which shifted out and Laundered, which was carried inwards by Dont Shoot. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and got its head up on several occasions before being permitted to stride and take up the lead after passing the 900 metres. Rider Jacob Rule reported that it had been his intention to settle mid-field with cover, however, after meeting with interference at the start, his mount commenced to over race and he permitted it to stride to the lead. Y Ota had her licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 13 October, 2016 and to expire after the completion of the day meeting at Mornington 21 October, 2016, a total of ten race meetings (1 metro, 9 provincial). In assessing penalty the Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the midrange category of carelessness and took into account her guilty plea and good record.
