2 WELCOME Welcome to the 2015/2016 edition of the Victorian Dressage Calendar. Inside you will find all the details for Equestrian Victoria affiliated dressage competitions for the next 13 months. Calender: Permission to hold an Official Dressage Event or competition Must be made in writing to the EV Office. EV requires notification of all Participation event dates. EV requires notification of cancellation of any event. Date Changes must have the approval of the EV Office. General Consideration: Organising bodies wishing to conduct Official Competitive or Participation dressage events in Australia must be currently Affiliated with EA. Competitions must be run in accordance with the current EA Dressage Rule Book. Welfare of the horse is paramount at all events. OC s are responsible for assessing environmental issues such As extreme heat, storms, high winds etc which may make conditions for running an event unsafe for competitors and their horses. Entry checks to be sent to the office prior to the competition to include EA registration numbers for both member andhorse. Results to be sent to the office within 7 days of the Competition date and must include EA registration numbers for both member and horse. Abiding By Competition Rules All organising committees (OCs) and competitors must be aware of the rules governing the sport. The rules are in place to make a fair competition for all involved. Should a competitor or organising committee have a grievance relating to the sport, they are encouraged to put their complaint in writing to the Dressage Sub Committee (EV office) so the matter can be handled appropriately Official Entry Form Entry forms can be found on the website: Entry%20Form% pdf The entry forms also requests that you supply a volunteer wherever possible. Most draws are now available through either EV or club websites and e mail so please remember to supply your address for ease and speed of distribution of draws and other competition information. Please note that the generic entry form is not for use at major championships such as Dressage With The Stars, Saddleworld Dressage Festival and Young Rider Championships these events have their own schedules and entry forms which can be downloaded from the EV website several months prior to the event. Closing Dates Competitors are asked to note the requirements attached to each event and abide by them. Please note the closing date of entries is the final day that entries are received, NOT the day you should post them. With the popularity of the sport growing all the time, most clubs accept entries in order of receipt, so if you leave it until the last minute there is a strong possibility that you will be placed on a reserve list or have your entries returned. Please note that payment for your entry must accompany the entry form there are expenses that need to be paid by organising committees in order to put the event on for you. Calendar Changes Any changes that occur after the Calendar has been printed will be placed on the EV website, EV Newsletter and Facebook page. For further information and updates, please visit the website Dressage Levy: $2.00 dressage levy per competitor per class is applicable and Payable to Equestrian Victoria. Refund Policy In an attempt to further unify dressage within the state, the Victorian Dressage Sub Committee created a unified policy (effective 1st July 2006) across all affiliated dressage events, regarding refunds for horses scratched from EV affiliated dressage competitions in Victoria. There will be no refund without a vet/medical certificate. After the closing date, upon presentation of a vet/medical certificate, the refund will be the entry fee minus 50% to cover event costs. Before the closing date, refunds will be the entry fee minus a $10 admin fee per horse. The refund policy applies to any event that is cancelled regardless of the reason. Refunds for cancelled events will be issued automatically by the organizing committee, i.e. No vet or medical certificate required Equestrian Victoria Dressage Calendar

3 WELCOME Welcome to the 2015/2016 edition of the Victorian Dressage C alendar. Inside you will find all the details for Equestrian Victoria affiliated dressage competitions for the next 13 months. All competitors should appreciate that putting on an event can be quite costly for the host club. There are several fees that must be paid for example, venue hire, judges, catering, prizes, printing, phones, etc. Hopefully one, united policy will help prevent confusion among both competitors and clubs. Werribee Park NEC Facility Fee The Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre Facility Fee is to be paid for each horse that comes onto the grounds of WPNEC. At the time of the handbook going to print the facility fee is $16 per horse per day. Please check the WPNEC website ( before you enter to ensure that you are paying the correct fees. Grading Points (Dressage Australia National Dressage Rules, January 2015) Awarding of Grading Points Upgrading points are awarded for ALL OFFICIAL Competitive competitions, including Young Rider Competitions. grading points are awarded based on percentage only (not placing) grading points are only awarded from performances in Competitive competitions as follows regardless of placing: Between 60% to % = 1 point Between 62% to % = 2 points Between 64% to % = 3 points Between 66% to % = 4 points Between 68% to % = 5 points Between 70% to % = 6 points 72% and over = 7 points The following competitions do not incur grading points: Freestyle competitions Young Horse competitions Participation competitions Further notes for Dressage Event Organisers available please Refer to Section 12 of the EA National Dressage Rule Book Para Classes: Para Classes can be held upon request. Please contact the clubs direct. Judges The Victorian Judges List is continually updated and amended to reflect changes as judges upgrade through levels, and as new judges join the panel. The latest list can always be obtained from the website. Dressage Victoria Subcommittee request all official Competitions to have two judges for EA tests and 3 judges for FEI tests. PLEASE NOTE IT IS A DRESSAGE VICTORIA SUBCOMMITTEE REQUIREMENT THAT A REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM TWO JUDGES BE SOUGHT Please allow judges sufficient break between classes a Minimum of 30 minutes is required. Further information on Judges and Organising committees (OC) available in Section 10 of the EA National Dressage Rules. Amatuer Owner/Rider (AOR) Division Criteria Rider must be an EA member Horse must be registered with EA The horse/pony registration lodged with EA must reflect the name of the AOR as owner of the horse. Leased horse are only permitted if the registration papers reflect the lessee as the owner. To qualify as an AOR the rider must not have competed in an FEI Sanctioned CDI (PSG GP) or CDI W in the prior 3 calendar years. An AOR must not have derived any sponsorship, gifts or remuneration above the value of $500 per annum for any services connected with the breaking, training and riding of any horse or pony in the last 3 years. An AOR s principle source of income is not obtained from sponsorship, breaking, training, riding or coaching any horse or rider. The horse/pony must be primarily ridden and trained by the rider/owner with only periodic ridden assistance by person(s) other than the owner. Specifically the horse/ pony must not have been ridden or trained by anyone, other than the owner, from the closing date of entries to the day of the event, for any event in which the rider wishes to compete as an AOR.
