Although, it helps that the wagon is based on the XF sedan which is a fine looking automobile. While not a Land Rover, the addition of a wagon could lure those buyers who want a Jaguar with 2011 AJS Concours d Elegance Let s get our cars spiffed up for the AJS Concours d Elegance to be held October 2 at Nalley Jaguar in Roswell. The pre-concours party will be at the Chattahoochee riverside home of Vail and Linda Frost the night before on October 1. Dick Thyer, JP Summers, Jim Foley, and Alan Talbott have worked hard to make this a great AJS event and as Alan Talbott says Clean it and bring it. Please enter early if you can or if you are unsure you can register and participate the day of the show. Jaguar XKR s and American LeMans Series Race some bit of utility (like me who could trade in my Audi wagon). As with all Jags, this wagon (OMG) puts an emphasis on looks, road-holding, fine leather seats, wood trim, and a pretty swanky cabin. It is expected that Jag s 385-bhp 5.0-liter V-8 engine will be used under the hood, coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration will be brisk for a sports wagon. It would be nice if Jaguar decides to fit the XF Estate with the supercharged V-8 from the XFR. Jaguar is expected to unveil the XF Estate at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show on September 13, Jaguar finished in 31st and 35st place out of 36 cars at the Road America track at Elkhart Lake, WI on Aug 20. The next American LeMans Series will be held on the streets of Baltimore on Sept 3 and will be broadcast on ABC September 11 at 4 PM ET. 2 Car Sales Literature Some time ago, long time AJS member Frank Coleman, donated some mostly Jaguar Cars sales literature to the AJS. I was able to comb through this literature and I have complied a detailed list. June s Corner Member News By June Mindrup, Health & Hospitality Director New Member Department: Dan Merrill, speaker last month, has recently become a new member. Welcome Aboard! Howard and Martha Turner are also new to our group. They drive a '69 E Type; a '59 Lister Jaguar and a '59 XK 150 Roadster. A big welcome to Matthew and Emily Antonucci who are the owners of a 2000 XKR. We're so glad to have all of you with us. Rita and Ted Anderson wrote a beautiful note thanking our group for the donation AJS made to Children's Healthcare in memory of their Granddaughter, Brittney Watts. It was so good to see Robert and Yera Kleiner at the August meeting as they are back from vacationing in Ireland, England, Scotland, Norway and Holland. Whew - what a trip - and they covered all these countries in 36 days. It's good to know you are back home safe and sound! My, but there was a good representation of AJS at the Pebble Beach, California, Concourse d'elegance. Kim and Bob Daly, Linda and Vail Frost, Myrna and Ivan Ruiz, Deb and Larry Walton, and Marlene and Don Hart all met there and had a great time. With coolish weather (in the 50's) it had to be enjoyable...as was a dinner at Chateau Julian with heaters on to keep diners warm! And - would you believe, Jay Leno was there and shook hands with our Marlene Hart!!! There is even a picture showing this! (ed. Where s the picture!!??) Marilyn and Ray Fry went to Lake Forest, Illinois (suburb of Chicago) to attend a family reunion. With 54 family members showing up, it was well worth the 4 day trip to see all of them. Rachel Morrison was recently awarded and recognized for her 9 years continuous service with increased business each year at New York's 80th anniversary of Doncaster. She came home with a beautiful 52" string of Pearls for all her efforts in the clothing business. Congratulations! Many AJS'ers will remember Marlene Cox a long standing member of our group, who is now living in Alabama. Report is she is having health problems so please remember her in your thoughts and prayers. Alan Talbott is scheduled for September 7th back surgery at Joseph's Hospital. Our sincere wish is that he will come out of this and enjoy umpteen years free of pain! We're all pulling for you. Vail Frost's car was featured in the Classic Motor Sports magazine (this month's issue) on page 30. Be sure to take a look at that! Lew George is now sporting a new 2011 Nissan Leaf electric car. It's red - AND - it costs less than $2.00 to go l00 miles. He assured us he is still keeping his Jags. J.P. Summers' Father passed away in Statesville, North Carolina on August 27th. He

3 was 101 years old - so just think of all the MANY changes he witnessed by being blessed with living that long. Steve and Jane Unti supervised the Georgia Festival Chorus' trip to England for a concert tour and performances in Stratford, Oxford, London and Royal Albert Hall. They were away for two weeks... however, Steve said (with a big smile on his face) he is retired from that position and he's never been happier. Was a marvelous trip, but a huge undertaking and responsibility. On August 30th, a luncheon honoring Frank Coleman and Guy Gunter was held at Aldo's. Twenty-one AJS'ers attended and President Bob Daly presented Frank with a Plaque recognizing his many years of service to our club. Guy Gunter received his Plaque at the recent Pool Party held at Judy Scarborough's home. Glenn and Kathy Michalski just returned from a week in Orlando where they swam with the dolphins at Sea World's Discovery Cove, spent a couple of days at Sea World and also golfed. Prior to that they were on the West Coast, sightseeing in Vancouver and Victoria British Columbia; then cruised Alaska's Inside Passage for a week where they saw whales, sea lions and many bald eagles...but no bears this time! Thought for the month: Patience is the ability to idle your motor when you feel like stripping your gears! Activities Kim Daly, Activities Director October 1 st is the date set for our annual Concours d Elegance pre-party. This year s party will be held at the very beautiful and spacious riverside home of Vail and Linda Frost. As per prior years, AJS will provide a Honey Baked ham as the main course for our party. You are requested to bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert. When you RSVP to me (Kim Daly), please let me know what you are bringing to insure we have enough food in each category. AJS will also provide beer, soft drinks and wine. The festivities will begin promptly at 6:00 PM at 4603 Gatewood Circle Duluth, GA To be included in this party, I need your RSVP no later than September 28 th. Start readying your car now, so you will be finished before 6:00 PM on the 1 st! If you haven t shown your car as often as you like, you are welcome to enter the Britz Blitz car show and swap-meet presented by the Georgia Triumph Association on October 8 th from 9:00 until 4:00 at Sequoyah High School 4885 Hickory Road Canton. Entry fee is $25. Check out the Euro Auto Festival 2011 website to get all the details for the weekend of October celebration of all European automobiles. The celebrated Honorary Marque for this year is the Jaguar E-Type. This festival takes place in Greenville, SC at the BMW manufacturing plant. It is always well attended and a site to behold. I would imagine we will see an extraordinary number of E-Types taking part this year in the celebration of the E-Type being introduced at The Geneva Auto Show in Rooms are available at a discount at the Greenville Embassy Suites and Golf Resort.
