BSSSA : NETBALL ASSOCIATION Welcome to the BSSSA Netball Section If you are a newcomer and welcome back to everyone else. Firstly, I would like to thank the members of last years Committee for all their hard work.a big thank you to Suzie Lancashire for the hard work with the results, it is much appreciated. Thanks to Rachel who has kept us on the straight and narrow financially. Thanks to Deb Stewart and Rebecca Long who coached the city squads. They have both done a fantastic job with the squads this year. The tournaments have been organised by Emma ; a thank you to all the hard work. Once again it is really important that schools can be represented at the meetings. The AGM 2014 next year will be 1 st MAY (venue to be confirmed) This is an important meeting where we complete entries for leagues for the subsequent season A few changes for this season : Results will be put on the Bradford schools Sports Association Netball website via text We also have a Twitter account so staff and players can follow the results of their schools team and other teams. Tournaments : In order to try and promote competition at all levels we are trying to have different sections that can include teams from emerging league competition as well as Bradford school Sports Association Leagues. Chris Buckley Chair

BRADFORD SCHOOLS NETBALL ASSOCIATION Minutes of the Annual General Meeting Thursday 18 th April 2013 at Bradford Grammar School 1. Welcome Chris Buckley chaired the meeting and welcomed everyone. 2. Minutes of 2012 AGM The minutes of last years AGM were as recorded in the Brochure. Proposed: Lucy Walsh; Seconded: Hilary Ravensdale. 3. Officer s Reports Chair s Report Chris thanked last year s committee, especially Jan for organising tournaments, Suzie and Sue for sorting out league results, Caroline for the brochure, Rachael for the accounts, Lucy for badges and Deb & Rebecca for District Squads. Chris will organise the District Trials this year, to be held at BGS. Dates for your diary: to be confirmed by West Yorks Netball Sat/Sun September West Yorkshire Academy Screening Saturday September West Yorkshire Invitation Tournament Tues 1 st Oct U13 District Trials at BGS Thurs 3 rd Oct U15 District Trials at BGS U13 BRADFORD DISTRICT 2013 Once again, another enjoyable and successful season with the U13 District squad. Trials were well attended with a wealth of potential talent and 21 girls were selected. Training sessions have been well attended and no snow meant no sessions cancelled this year!!!
At the time of writing this report we have not had the 4 th and final District Tournament, on Sat 21 st April. I have entered two strong squads in the other three tournaments and all the girls have sampled the experience of playing in these competitions and there feedback was positive. The A squad have only lost one game so far, and the B squad have improved and gained more confidence. I have chosen a player of the season and most improved player from each squad and these go to ::: A Team POS Ciara Patchett from Emanuel (was a late entry who trialled at first session) A team MIP Victoria Trudgill from Parkside. B team POS Maya Booton from Ilkley B team MIP Emily Nalton from Parkside. I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching the girls and am happy to do it all again next season. Deb Stewart 4. Election of Officers Officers were elected or reappointed as follows: Chairperson Chris Buckley Oakbank League Secretary Georgina Jones BGS Results Secretary Suzie Lancashire Beckfoot Treasurer to be held by District Coaches with J Jordan to countersign General Members Janice Jordan H Ravensthorpe R Long D Stewart Tournament Organisers Emma Challinor /Parkside District Coach Squad U13 - Deborah Stewart U15 Rebecca Long Emerging League: TO BE CONFIRMED
5. Leagues & Tournaments a) Structure of Leagues The league entry sheets were sent out and schools were asked to specify if they would prefer to be in the A or B league, depending on ability. It was agreed to keep the leagues the same in regards to the U16 s not having a league and playing in the senior leagues. A new structure was trialled this season and the question was asked should we carry this on? Janice struggled to fit fixtures in due to part time hours and school restraints. It is hard to keep U12/U13 motivated. Hilary thought it was great for the seniors to get their matches played before their exams and she organised lots of friendlies for her girls so they had more match play. She feels we might come to a point where we will play in central venues due to school meeting nights etc. Georgina suggested keeping the seniors and U12 s structured and floating the other age groups. It was decided that it should be more manageable next season, therefore it was suggested that all games remain 4 x 8minutes and that the following age groups play fixtures at the following times of year: U12/U13 Jan-Easter U14 Nov Easter U15/Seniors Sept Feb half term Of course, schools can finish their fixtures whenever they like but this should make things easier timewise. All results should be submitted by Monday b) Tournaments Just a reminder that every player can only play in one tournament. If you are short of players for the OA tournament, please call Chris to discuss options before pulling out of the tournament altogether. There will be a central venue for all tournaments (BGS) and all start times will be 3pm. If a tournament is to be cancelled, it will be done so by 1pm on the day. Registration will be at 2.30pm and court availability will also be from 2.30pm. Emma will send s out before tournaments to confirm entries. The will come out 2 weeks before a tournament and A RESPONSE IS NEEDED.Reminders will also go out on TWITTER It should also be noted that the losing semi-finalist staff should umpire the finals at all tournaments.
6. Tournament Dates for 2013 /14 The tournament dates will be as follows: Age Group Date Venue U12 19 th March BGS 2014 U13 5 th March BGS 2014 U14 20 th Nov 2013 BGS U15 16 th Oct 2013 BGS U16 9 th Oct 2013 BGS Open Age 25 th Sept 2013 BGS 7. AOB It was also decided that the fixtures meeting should be in June so we can start with fixtures sooner when we get back to school in September so the meeting was made for 18 th June at BGS. 8. Date of Next AGM Thursday 1 st MAY School at 4pm at Bradford Grammar Committee Meetings Thurs SEPT 5 th Thurs Dec 5 th Mon April 7th Chris Buckley
