COMMITTEE REPORTS

HOUSE JOE OLSON, ROSS JERPSETH, TODD SINJEM SEASON RECAP We had 128 skaters throughout the mite program this season 12 Teams: 8U, A, 2-B s, 5-C s and 3-D s Things as a whole went relatively well Need more first year skaters Down substantially from prior year Added the Hard Dividers to the program

HOUSE JOE OLSON, ROSS JERPSETH, TODD SINJEM LESSONS LEARNED Don t have an odd # of teams at any level Scheduling is Difficult The Outdoor Ice in BP was well taken care of, but limit # of teams on the ice at one time Utilize website to post more information, i.e. timeline, hockey 101, etc Would like to have a mandatory meeting first weekend of season. One parent from each registered mite family must attend Timeline, Expectations, Entitlements If we have a large # of players at one level (Mite C this year), look at possibly keeping some kids back at the D level for one more season

HOUSE JOE OLSON, ROSS JERPSETH, TODD SINJEM NEXT SEASON Approximately 91 skaters eligible to return to mites next season Boys: 69 Skaters Girls: 22 Skaters 1-A,1-8U, 2-B, 4-C and 4-D Eligible Returning Skaters by Level A 2 8U 5 B 12 C 44 D-28

HOUSE JOE OLSON, ROSS JERPSETH, TODD SINJEM RECRUITING Needs to be Grass Roots Recruiting Tables at Elementary School Open Houses Tri Fold Flyers Carry with to Soccer/Lacrosse/Baseball/Gymnastics/Dance, etc Yard Signs Recruiting MPLS Storm hockey did a 100 yard sign challenge and had more families sign up than they had signs to hand out. They have been the fastest growing Association in the State.

HOUSE JOE OLSON, ROSS JERPSETH, TODD SINJEM SUGGESTIONS Start a Jr. Rebel Program 1hr/weekend with two seasons: Nov/Dec and Jan/Feb NO VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS PROGRAM Charge $45/skater If they need to register with USA Hockey, give their account the $50 credit towards a future CPYHA purchase Mite Fall Skills Clinic move to a 3v3 format Kids who skate in Fall Skills are solely working on skills from August thru Thanksgiving See More Participation I believe we lose kids to other programs because Aug/Sept is too much Practice Format Continue to Follow the ADM. However, break ice into five stations. Would utilize the neutral zone for skating and break other two zones into four total stations with small area games Develop Goal Scorers/Moving with and without the puck Create a list of habits Each coach should have a list of habits each player should be leaving each level of mites with should be done from Mite D thru BAA

HOUSE MGR COORDINATOR BECKY MAIFELD Updated the House Manager Manuals, printed and assembled. Volunteer details needed updating (DIBS, multiple children, eligible tasks, etc). Safety needed updating (SAFE SPORT) Committee and Board Members Worked with Champlin Athletic to update Apparel items and prices Created a Manager To Do/Check list Held House Manager Meeting November 23 rd, 2014 at 6:30 pm at Forum In Attendance: All managers except for two Champlin Athletic Mite House Director Ross Jerpseth Concessions Katie Verlo Safety Alyssa Senescall Assisted Managers with: Questions, Pictures, jamboree, volunteering, tournaments, outdoor ice, time clock, game schedules, concessions, apparel, coaches reimbursement, etc. Liaison for: - Mite Directors - SKATE - Jamboree - Volunteer - Concessions - Etc. Volunteer Tracy Johnson

HOUSE MGR COORDINATOR BECKY MAIFELD Overall the season went very well with the managers. There were no major issues. Recommendations: Over the years there have been challenges with managers that are new to the association, not knowing about CPYHA or hockey in general. For D mites this inevitable unless there an older child is playing hockey. Suggestion to select manager who has experience with the association when possible (if they have volunteered). Had one manager who was new on a C team who was very hands off, did not communicate well with team. Parents get very frustrated and the hockey experience is not as good as it could be. We had a D head coach who had his wife manage because they were afraid to let anyone else manage after the bad experience they had with the manager the previous year.

CONCESSIONS KATIE VERLO (DIRECTOR), MICHELLE BAKER (ACCOUNTING) The concessions stand was closed down a week after the season ended. The ice arena has purchased a variety of the food for them to sell at a Gun and Knife show in May and at their concession stand at Andrews Park. The concession stand itself did well this year. We did have the same obstacles we have had since last year with people not signing up to work the concession stand. Especially the times that we really needed people to sign up, Varsity games. Collin has spoken with me to about assigning teams to work the Varsity games next year. I do agree with him on this one because this was a continuous issue through the whole season. I am going to cut down the amount of people working at practices during the weeks. I will be keeping with the same food as this past season and possibly looking at raising a few prices but I will make that decision before next season. I will be adding a binder of information of how and what to do at he concession stand. The "how to signs " will be replaced for the next upcoming season. I will also be adding a "What to do when I am standing around" list for people working the concessions stand. I did deal with a couple no shows that signed their names on the check off list but never worked the hours. I need to figure out some type of warning/repercussion for doing that. I will address this issue in the managers meeting next season. Thank you for everyone that went above and beyond with helping me this year!

MITE JAMBOREE BRAD SOLOMON The 2015 Mite Jamboree was held on the weekend of February 27 th, 28 th, and March 1 st with 268 Mite/8U players participating. 126 house players and 142 players from outside associations took part. We had 12 house teams and 13 visiting teams that played 9 full ice games and 14 half ice games. Each CPYHA team was able to use a varsity locker room, have a spotlight for introductions, and enter the ice through a fog machine for one game. All CPYHA players received a bag tag, personalized water bottle, trophy, medal, and other small participations gifts including a CP puck. Old traveling jerseys were available for purchase throughout the weekend. Players had the opportunity to pre-order jamboree t-shirts. Prizes were given away during the coaches game on Saturday night through a lollipop tree and chuck-a-puck. All moms were given a personalized hockey pin with their child s name and number on it. Small participation gifts/goodie bags were given to all visiting teams as well. During the weekend the Ice Forum lobby and north rink area was occupied by the following vendors: Champlin Athletic, Game Day Charms, Bennett Professional Photography, Kyle s Kollectibles, The Hat Guy, Hockey Memories, and Aspire Beverage. A competitive coaches game concluded Saturday night s festivities and the skills competition completed the weekend fun on Sunday. Each team was also provided an end of season pizza party as well.

BE A REBEL PROGRAM JESSICA TESDALL This year the Be a Rebel committee designed and distributed custom long-sleeve t-shirts for all House and Traveling players. The committee secured 10 sponsors for the t-shirts resulting in $1,300 in donations. Sponsors were promoted via their logos on the back of the shirt. We organized the 2 nd Annual Hockey Hair Competition. We secured Fantastic Sam s in Champlin as the official sponsor. Fantastic Sam s donated the monthly prizes. We organized and executed the Food Fight at the Forum Event which took place during CPYHA Youth Night in December. Q-Fanatic in Champlin was the official sponsor and vendor. Food was provided by Q-Fanatic at cost and the committee sold it at Concessions for an upcharge amount. Over 300 food items were collected at the event and donated to the food shelf at Champlin Park High School. Over $150 was raised from the sale of Q-Fanatic and donated on behalf of CPYHA to the food shelf at Jackson Middle School. The committee hosted a Coaches Appreciation event during the Coaches Game at the Mite Jamboree. Children at the game made posters to show their support of their favorite coaches. Planning for the season is complete. We are expanding our fundraising efforts and community outreach to strengthen the committee mission of Individual Commitment to Group Excellence.

SPONSORSHIP OPEN POSITION

TOURNAMENTS WADE GJERVOLD HIGHLIGHTS The 2014 tournament was quite a success even if it had an operating loss. Tournament ran on schedule and there were no significant injuries Primary reason for the operating loss was the inability to fill either bracket. We had to give away one Peewee registration to even out a 6 team pool play bracket. For Squirts, we had to g with a single 4 team pool bracket. This meant 4 games/team vs. 3 games/team for the same registration fee. The loss from the tournament was approx. $200 (down $3900 from 2013 down $3200 from 2012). There were no notable complaints. As with the 2013 tournament,, we were scrounging for registrations until right at the last minute. it was on the cusp of not happening due to lack of registrations. I think, due to the large number of established tournaments Thanksgiving weekend, we may need to consider a different weekend to boost registration. I have it on my list to examine the 2014/2015 calendar and come up with some recommendations. The only major considerations in moving the tournament would be some logo changes and we d need to keep more of our own teams home that weekend to fill our own ice commitments. We continue the need to book hotels early (in the summer), small towns and preferred hotels booked up fast. Managers need to inform the tournament directors of preferences and desire to change to keep our good standing with repeat hotels. No major issues this season.
