11 June 19, 2018 Dear 4H Families: I am writing this letter to each and every one of you as a representative of the Harvey County Fair board. As the annual Harvey County Free Fair fast approaches, I would like to communicate many things that we as a Fair board have been working on this past year and some changes occurring this year. First, our Fair board officially became its own entity at the first of the year. The official name is Harvey County KS Fair Association. We have overhauled the by-laws and established new agreements with the county, city and the Newton Saddle Club. We have revised many older contracts, created a new website, have a Facebook page and will begin using the Fair Online Entry system that everyone will need to use to enter all Open and 4H exhibits in the Harvey County Free Fair this year. Second, members of the Fair board have been actively looking at adding some new events and changing the schedule. This year we will be adding Tug O War and Mud Volleyball, they will be held west of the Demo Pit on Friday evening starting at 6:30pm. So get your team and check out the website and Facebook for more details! There have been a few changes to the schedule, the main one is for it starting one day earlier (Thursday) and ending one day earlier (Monday). This night will be the Premium Auction as well, NOT Tuesday evening. Please check the website for the Fair schedule at then click on Fair then the drop down to Schedule. Finally, we have been blessed for many years with putting on a great fair. This takes many volunteers, hard work and monies. We thank all of you for your time and effort to make the 2018 Fair is a success! Remember all we do is for the 4-H youth! Any questions, comments, or concerns can be brought to our attention. Mike Riffel Harvey County Fair board President 11
