2 FROM THE BRIDGE 2 DECK!! February Board Meeting Summary: The board met on Tuesday, February 12, Treasurer showed we are following our 2013 budget, which had been approved at the January meeting. We are getting a lot of requests for club rentals. The board is reviewing our policy for fundraisers and nonmember rentals. A small team is getting advice on allowable non-member rentals. This will be rolled into our upcoming revision of rental policies. We discussed the importance of communication for new events to the Events Committee. The board is working with California Canoe &Kayak (CC&K) to renew their lease. Remember that CC&K offers discounts to our members. Boatyard policy is being revised with small improvements, with focus on member services and income. Our boatyard manager keeps waiting lists for spaces in the yard. See Tell Tales (page 16) for contact information. Rear Commodore reported that the January sailing breakfast was well attended. On land and on water activities are under way. Londerville Cup was a beautiful sunny day with 7 C15s competing. Cal20 Sponsors and Angel 1/Dock teams are actively working. Sponsors are needed for lasers and optis. Safety both on land and on water are critical. There was a discussion about dogs in the clubhouses during very busy times. page 9. See note If you have not yet paid your 1 st quarter dues or boatyard fees, please do so.

And we ll have a sneak peek at a planned Half Moon Bay Yacht Club trip on the Star Flyer January 12, 2014 for 7 nights from Costa Rica to Nicaragua. A representative from Star Clippers will be on hand to answer questions. Star Clippers operates three of the world s largest and tallest sailing vessels. Visiting ports often untouched by larger cruise ships and offering passengers the activities, amenities and atmosphere of a private yacht, Star Clippers is recognized as one of the premier specialty cruise lines. In Staff Commodore Paul Minoletti s words: A true sailing ship and you can even hoist sails or climb to the crow's nest - I chose to take the helm - and held it for about 30 minutes right at sunset - it was spectacular! PLEASE RSVP Reservations to below so enough food will be available. 2blackcats@comcast.net with Sail Away in the subject line and the number of people who will attend.

9 9 PETS DURING BUSY TIMES I think we can all agree, HMBYC is a very pet friendly club. But when our clubhouse is busy (i.e. Happy Hour, large events, etc), our small space can seem even smaller when pets are underfoot and running around loose. This can also create safety concerns for all both Members and Pets. So we ask, as a courtesy to all Members, when our clubhouse is busy, please keep our pet friends outside on the Lanai, deck or anywhere outside. And also remember pets are never permitted in the kitchen or the new building. Thank you, HMBYC Board Ships Stores Looking for some fun HMBYC items to wear? Come down to the Club and shop at "Ships Stores" where you will find great selections on jackets, hats, shirts, etc. Quality merchandise at amazing prices.
