Page 2 Boat Yard Business.please read! Boat yard space is available in the yard. Due to some shuffling of the fleet and, actually using the C-15 racks that were built a couple years ago, we have a couple of extra spaces for boats in the yard. Rental rates can be found at I would like to pass along a friendly reminder that we have several people behind on their rent for the boat yard. I will be starting the process of removing those people from the yard if the accounts are not brought up to date. The boat yard agreement states that rental fee in advance. We also have a boat yard policy working its way through all the proper channels. One thing the policy will state is one rental space= one watercraft. If you are doubling up please prepare to find a new home for one or the other. Another item is no other than the watercraft can be stored in the rental space. This has been brought up because of the eyesore it creates. Please be proactive so it is easier on all of us. Boat Yard Manager Dave Morris Thank you Dave She's Back...at Happy Hour Chef de Somer, that is! She will be preparing, for our pleasure, Rolled Chicken Breast with sun dried tomatoes, Smashed Sweet Potatoes (yummy) & Veggies. This tantalizing dish will only cost you $8 per plate & will be served on Friday the 27th from 5-7:30pm. Happy Hour beverages of $3 beer, $4 wine & $5 liquor will be served from 5-7pm. So, plant a tree on "Arbor Day," & then join us for fun & relaxation! Your P.C. Nat.
Page 3 What a fun Open House! Thank you to everyone who made the Open House on April 15th such a successful and fun day! I am thrilled to let you know that we signed up 24 new members-many of them young families. All the new members will be receiving their badges this week. You'll be able to identify the new members by a blue dot in the bottom right corner of their badge. Please reach out to these new members, show them around if they look lost and make them feel welcome!
Page 4 Women Sailing sponsored Opti boat Dove. The Women Sailing sponsored Optimist is ready to be delivered. Their hull and all it's parts are ready for painting and final assembly. I would be happy to present it to the group. We've left all the purchased parts in their bags, so it will be a bit like birthday party. Wrapping is up to you. Patrick Melley Head of the Sailing Program

PAGE 7 Hi Sunday Skippers I have attached a copy of the Sunday Skipper 2012 schedule. Please take a look and let me know as soon as possible if you foresee any conflicts so we can get them resolved sooner than later. The Sunday Skipper watch will also be posted in Tell Tales as a friendly reminder. With all the nice work being done on the Cal 20 fleet is should be another great year to be on the water. Thanks for making it possible for those less fortunate land lubbers to experience the joys of sailing. PLEASE RSVP to let me know that you have seen the schedule and that we can verify the contact information! Marcus Choy Check Out the Cruise Outs Schedule June 2/3 Petaluma-great strolling down town July 7/8 Encinal at Alameda/Jack London-come hit the outdoor pool! September 22/23 Angel Island-by boat or by ferry, BBQ on the beach Every weekend will include a boat open house with cocktails and hors d oeurves on Saturday afternoon We re looking for an event captain for each cruise out. Please contact Leann or Spencer at crusing@hmbyc.org if you want to coordinate one of them. Here s to a fun 2012 cruising season!
Page 8 New Laser Captain Getting the CAL 20 s ready Congratulations to John Sorfleet who got checked out on the Laser this last Sunday - yes the capsizes after the Opening Day Parade were intentional - all part of the test! Hope to see you out on the water more this summer John! Pinewood Derby success for Cub Scout Troop Please pass on Half Moon Bay's Cub Scout Pack 263's appreciation to the members of the Yacht Club for the use of the facility. The Pinewood Derby was a smashing success for our kids and their parents yesterday The venue that the club provided was fantastic, especially the nice weather you dialed in. The room, BBQ, deck and water front location made the event that much more special. We had 27 kids that raced their Pinewood Derby Cars and probably had 40+ additional family members in attendance throughout the day. It was a memorable event for our kids and I can't tell you how many positive comments I heard about the facility from the parents. I know you garnered some new members and potential Youth Sailing Camp participants as well. There should be an article written in this Wednesday's addition of the Half Moon Bay Review. Below are the results of the race and attached are some photos.
