Sunday March 25th, we were honored to bring on board nine new Watch Officers & Hospitality recruits!

Godfrey & Jeanne Watson refined their skills as Watch Officers. The classes were informative, friendly and well defined.

Also, thank you Vice Commodore Mike Mann for your introductory words, and to Bernice Marshall for the yummy popcorn! We have already had requests for another series of classes & tours.

Welcome Timothy & Jillian Chingos, Denis & Margrit Pichou, Chris Siconolfi, Carliane Johnson, Chet Chong, Rebecca Mendehel & Howard Weiss. 2 Page 2 Our WO & Hospitality Volunteers at work STROM, STROM, STROMBOLI'S Guest Chef John Connors will treat us this Friday the 30th with three variaties of Stromboli sandwiches: The Myocardial Infartion (meat, mushroom & cheese) The Eastwood (avocado, shrimp, roasted bell peppers & cheese) The Wehtje (all veggie with cheese) All will be made from home-made pizza dough, plus a "from scratch" Marinara sauce (veggie safe). Realizing that she will need adult assistance if she truly hopes to save her home, the resourceful youngster soon begins exchanging s with the author of a book she has been reading. Nim's Island stars Little Miss Sunshine's Abigail Breslin, as well as Jodie Foster and Gerard Butler. Jack and Ruth have thought about joining the HMB Yacht Club ever since they moved to HMB 25 years ago. Guess you could say they're slow starters! Their active sailing days pretty much ended when they moved here. But before that, they spent many wonderful hours pleasure sailing SF Bay on their Ericson 29 out of the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon. They also Tonga and Hawaii. Jack did a fair amount of racing as crew on various boats. And there was some talk about dropping out and cruising the world which pretty much ended after he helped sail a friend's very enjbeamy 50 foot boat back from Hawaii! Jack's time on the water now mostly revolves around fly fishing which he does quite a lot since his retirement two years ago. Both Jack and Ruth are looking forward to meeting everyone and maybe getting some sailing in.oyed some special sailing vacations in the BVI's,

Dave Morris (The following is a portion of an article on the Antifouling Tests of several paints, including the EP2000, if you would like the full article, please let me know and I will to you, secretary@hmbyc.org) EPAINT Epaint takes a unique approach to bottom paints. Its products like EP2000, EP21, and Ecominder contain zinc oxide, which is also found in sunscreen, shampoos, and diaper creme. Although Epaints zinc coatings are generally considered biocide-free, they act like biocide-boosted paints. When exposed to light, water, and dissolved oxygen, they release an inhospitable layer of hydrogen peroxide around the boat hull. EP2000 emerged (from a test) after 18 months almost as clean as it went in. The EP2000 is not compatible with other paint bottoms, so switching brands may require some extra prep work. It is only available in white and grey, and because it is photoactive, it is recommended that you put at least three coats near the waterline where there is strong sunlight exposure.
