3 Page 3 Linger with Lucy WE HAVE A NEW TRAILER! I am pleased to let you know that the old rusty Cal 20 trailer made it back to the boatyard with "Knot Know" last week, without incident. It was a miracle, there were bits of rust falling off the trailer all the way from the slip back to the club - it truly was on it's last legs! Dave Morris (aka - super hero extraordinaire) ordered a new axle and has made a custom built frame for the new trailer - it is so nice and shiny you must come see it. Thank you Dave for all your hard work and engineering to get us a trailer that is perfect for hauling out Cal 20's and will last for many years to come! VENUS ENVY & ARGO Since these vessels have not come out of the water, but are moored in the inner harbor and still available for club use should we have a break in the weather during the winter months. You can access these boats by following these steps:- 1. Get the key to the boat padlock and gate of the inner harbor. These are kept on an orange float, at the bar, hanging nearest the window. 2. Sign the boat out and take a radio 3. Unlock the boat - the padlock is on the forward starboard side of the cabin hatch cover. 4. There is a little out board motor on one of the boats, secure this to the back of the boat. Connect this to the battery which is stored in the lazarette. 5. Disconnect the solar panel and store in the lazarette. 6. Motor out of the harbor and raise the sails while under motor. 7. After sailing, drop the sails while still in the harbor and motor back to the inner harbor. 8. Remove the motor and store in the cabin. 9. Reconnect the solar panel to the battery and secure it to the deck. 10. Lock the cabin 11. Return the keys to the club. 12. Sign the boat back on and recharge the radio. If anyone would like a demonstration on how the motor, battery and solar panel operate please let me know and I can schedule to meet you at the boat. Thank you Lucy Gillis Oops, sunglasses fell in the water! HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!!! Starting December 2nd, we will be launching a new Friday Night Happy Hour & will continue through March the dark months. These are cold, dark months which will boost sunshine bar activity through the winter. So, plan to join us from 5-7pm every Friday night. $3 Beer, $4 Wine $5 Mixed Drinks!! 5 November 16, 2011 HMBYC Night at Coastal Rep I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old-fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to Who? YOU! What? A potluck of heavy hors d'oeuvres and drink followed by a performance of A Christmas Carol. Where? Spencer and Leann Nassar's home then Coastal Rep Theater. When? Saturday, November 19th at 6:30 pm. Why? You are eager for an evening of good conversation and good live theater with A Challenge your friends from the yacht club! Enjoy some h o l i d a y cheer with your fellow yacht club m e m b e r s and support our local t h e a t e r company at the same time. Get your tickets directly by calling the theater at t h e n e m a i l DebKessler@comcast.net or LBNassar@yahoo.com to let us know you will be joining us. Deb Kessler & Leann Nassar Your Theatre Coordinators my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land. ~ Jon Stewart Coastside Hope is a local charity providing assistance to local low income and seniors who work and live on the Coastside from Montara to Half Moon Bay. These are our neighbors. At Christmas their program " Adopt A Family "provides gifts to brighten the lives of these folks, children, & seniors. For several years we, individuals at the HMBYC, have donated to this worthy, local, and tax deductible organization. Last year we donated over $400. So here is the CHALLENGE. If every member donated the equivalent if 1 or 2 glasses of wine we will far exceed our previous contributions and further assist Coastside Hope to brighten the lives of many more of our less advantaged neighbors at this holiday season. Dee and Wes and Paul and Carol have pledged to dollars will be donated by members of HMBYC. Coastside Hope volunteers will purchase the gifts which are typically warm clothing items and deliver them. This is a good cause and local. We hope you all will participate. Numerous small donations will all add up to our ability to provide a better holiday season for many of our needy neighbors. That said, of course larger donations will be gratefully accepted as well. A jar will be available on the bar at the club until closing 12/11. Please leave your tax deductible check in the jar with the memo noted HMBYC. Envelopes will be available in the jar. The HMBYC notation will facilitate Coastside Hopes ability to report the grand total to us for publication in Tell Tails. Any questions please contact Deirdre at or Wes at
