6 6 OPENING DAY/35 TH ANNIVERSARY FEATURING CATIE CHASE AND THE GETAWAYS Yes, that s right. HMBYC is thrilled to announce that Catie Chase and the Getaways will be performing Sunday afternoon as part of our Opening Day/35 th Anniversary Celebration. We know it will be an awesome afternoon of great music with great friends, so plan now to attend. Many of you have asked our theme for this year It s very simply Celebration. Come as a pirate, a tropical beauty, a mermaid or just as you are and Celebrate the day, the wind, the water and the history, present and future of our club. Pig Roast/Picnic: Remember that our very own Richard Poncini will be preparing a Tradi tional Pig Roast on site. We ll have plenty of sides and desserts so make your reservations now by clicking here. RESERVATIONS ARE RE QUIRED. Adults $25/plate including sides and desserts; $15 Vegetarian; $10 Kids 12 & under. Art Show: We already have entrants for the HMBYC: Inspirations Art Show. You can submit your art work and get more information by clicking here. We look forward to seeing the great creativity of our members. Submission deadline is April 4 at 5:00 p.m. Commemorative Merchandise: In the spirit of celebration, pre-order your 35th Anniversary Logo HMBYC attire. Any item from our catalogue can be ordered with the special 35thAnniversary designation between now and March 30 by contacting our worthy quarter-master, Deirdre O Connor at quartermaster@hmbyc.org Boat Parade: No matter your boat of choice, sailors and non-sailors alike are welcome to join the Opening Day Boat Parade, complete with King Neptune and the Lovely Mermaid. It s a great time on the water and the docks to kick off the season. 35 th Anniversary Festivities: Sign-up: There will be much celebration of this club milestone. Please gather your photos, memen tos, tall tales and real stories. We ll be curating all of these items in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more details. There will also be a special program led by John Powell, Connie Malach, Mike Day and others. We are also expecting a great turnout of many of the Staff Commodores from years gone by. Don t miss this chance to renew old friendships and make new memories as well. To make the day a success, we ll need many Ambassadors of Fun to serve in various roles for Opening Day/35th Anniversary Party. 8 8 SAILING OPPORTUNITIES APPROACHING! Let your hair down, let loose and come join in the fun during one of HMBYC's Adult Sailing Classes! Adult Cal20 classes begin April 20th and 21st. Hurry to register as there is limited space available! Want to feel the rush of water on the hull and the sun on your back from even closer to the elements? Adult Laser classes begin May 8th and run Wednesday evenings for 5 weeks. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at one of the most popular dinghy sailboats in the world! Spring Youth After-School Sailing for your kids and teens begins on March 11th and run through May 5th with a break the week after Easter. Get those forms in! Spring Break Opti Camp which is also open to beginners is being offered April 1st- April 5th. 10 10 Message Board Hi fellow sailors, The Gold Country Yacht Club is putting on it's 35th Annual Go for the Gold Regatta. Last year, we hosted the Catalina 22 Nationals right after the regatta, this year we hope to have more one design sailors participating. There is a great steak dinner on Saturday night with a live band and dancing under the stars. We have a raffle with prizes that sailors will appreciate. The dates are June 8th and 9th at Scotts Flat Lake in Nevada County. There is camping available at the lake and lots of hotels and motels in both Nevada City and Grass Valley.
