It s always great to see the inventiveness of the children, creating robots and characters out of cardboard, paint and foil! We all had a fabulous day and it was fabulous to have guest appearances of the Little Prince and the Invisible Man. Here are some comments from the Prep students. I chose to be a spy because they spy on baddies. Jackson I chose my Batman costume because I like Batman and he can fly very high. Annie I love Spiderman because he shoots webs and because he looked good. Hamish I chose a Viking costume because they re tough! Taj I love Mad Hatter because he is a good guy but they caught him for nothing! Kempton I chose to be a wicked witch because I like being a wicked witch because wicked witches have a broom and their broom can fly. Zoe I chose Spiderman because he looks good and he s special and I like him. Reuben I chose to be Princess Jasmine because she has magic carpet. Violet I like my costume because I love aeroplanes. I am an aeroplane pilot. Aryan I chose Harry Potter because I love spells. For my character I got a new tie. Charlie I dressed up as Awferbar. I wanted to dress up as her because she is so beautiful. Polly I am a pirate. Will I am a wicked witch. Hattie I chose Rapunzel because she has long hair and she has a dog and she has ice powers. Lana I chose this Star Wars guy because he is the best guy. 2 Page 2 We all enjoyed our visit from Sue degennaro who bought with her a wealth of knowledge about creativity and a huge passion for life. Sue has been an illustrator of childrens books for eight years, once being a trapeze artist for Circus Oz and the Womens Circus that toured Australia. She inspired the children to draw, to think about their characters (how they look, how they move) and what sort of story they are trying to tell. The children came away from the experience with more confidence in their drawing ability and in their capability to create a story. Sue had the children and staff enthralled during her visit to celebrate Book Week. YEAR 3 ENDANGERED ANIMAL STALLS THANK YOU! We would love to thank everyone who came and supported us last Thursday. Our stalls were all sold out by the end of recess! We really appreciate you helping us. Yesterday the raffle was drawn at assembly. Congratulations to our winners, Will s Grandma, Jenny, Camilla and Charlie. We raised an amazing $ and happily donated it to Mt Rothwell yesterday. They were extremely grateful for the donation and told us that the money would pay for a tracking device for a tiger quoll. Thank you once again, Mrs Clancy and Year 3.

3 Page 3 Angelina: When I was meditating it felt really relaxing. When Janet talked about the 5 senses that we had it made me realize that I could see more beautiful things in my world by using my senses. Millie: I felt really calm and relaxed when I did the meditation. Jack: I liked eating the parsley and smelling the plants. Some of the plants smelt really beautiful when I rubbed my fingers on them. Elian: We looked at different plants. We used our sight, smell, taste and our hands to feel them. Some tasted hairy and planty. But they all smelt really great. When we were meditating I felt calm and relaxed. Aiden: Being mindful with the plants made me feel calm and relaxed. With our 5 senses we can see more beautiful things in our world. Bella: When I did meditation on the mat, I felt really calm and quiet. Ted: When I was smelling the plants I felt calm and relaxed. Some of them reminded me of my Mum because they smelt like her lovely perfume. Thomas: The meditation really felt good and calmed me down. When I was smelling the plants, I used my sense of smell to discover how beautiful they smelt. Ava: I liked meditating because it made me feel relaxed, calm and warm. Janet spoke about our 5 senses and how they can make me be more mindful.

4 Page 4 Last week some of our Year 4 students combined with middle school to create the GGS Athletics Team. Students competed in the Corio District Athletics Carnival at Goldsworthy Reserve. For all, this was their first experience at an inter-school athletics competition. All students did Geelong Grammar proud with many exceeding their personal best performance. Congratulations to all on their fine performances! Wendy Breer
