2 It s come down to this This week; it s all on the line. Only one team out of 12 will earn the title of VA Peninsula Division Champion. Only one will earn a potential invite to the Founders Cup World Championship in Vegas. Only one team will be able to hold up the prestigious Wentworth Trophy on Saturday! Over the next week, we ll have an awesome regular season finale. Lots of great matchups (see the preview section for a full breakdown). Then we have the division tournament on Saturday morning. The first round games will kick off at 9 AM and we ll be scheduled to end at about 3 o clock. Captains, if for some reason your team will not be able to compete in the tournament, please be sure to let me know before Friday, so I can update the brackets accordingly. Of course, I am hoping we ll have a full field in attendance. Of course, later that night, we ll end our Fall season in style with a HUGE blowout at Luckie s for the End of Season Party! If you didn t make it to the Mid- Season Party, you ll definitely want to make sure you get to this one. 6 kegs! It s going to be SICK! My special lady and I enjoyed our cruise to the Bahamas. 9 Week 11 Recap Jagernauts 5, New Kicks on the Block 0 (Forfeit) Recap by Trici Fredrick & Katie Litle This week s showdown between the Jagers and the NKOTB was much like the vibe you get before, during and after you attend your favorite summer concert - a high energy adrenaline rush from beginning to end. With Eddie Seavers trade to NJ finalized this week and team manager Justin Littell on a scouting trip this week, the Jagernauts were anxious about the outcome of this game. NKOTB proved to be Hanging Tough despite a low turnout from their team, however both team agreed the game was too legit to quit (not NKOTB but a 90's lyric reference regardless), the two teams squared off to see Who s got the Right Stuff. Despite some early interference from several small dogs, who were more wound up than Justin Bieber's fans after a free show on the Today Show plaza and distraction at home plate by Alden Lawrence (who switched teams in one night more than Brett Favre has "retired"), a RBI from the Jagers brought home key outfielder Justin Arrington to bring the Jagers to a solid 4-0 lead in the first inning. Justin A. commented on his success; I can best compare it to Jordan Knight trying to go solo-he is an inspiration to all. I figured if he could have one hit-i could have one kick! After a quick pop to center from the fastest man alive (Michael Machie, who also happens to be playing for New Kicks this season), Trici Fredrick quick thinking led to a successful catch! As she exited the field Trici gave a shout out to former teammate/coach saying, "Coach Eds, that one was for you. Didn't I blow your mind this time? Didn't I?" NKOTB followed the Jagernauts Step by Step in the final innings; hanging with them better than the VIPs hang at Luckie's in a game of flip cup. NKOTB small group provided fierce competition and footing swifter than Taylor's new album's record sales. And props to their Center Fielder that caught more balls then Pamela Anderson in one night! Rumor has it they are saving up their energy for the impending tour with Backstreet Boys in early Summer 2011.

10 After the game, Eddie held a press conference in which he recognized his former team and the elite training opportunity that existed just by playing with them. He noted how returning to the land of fist pumps and gold chains was like coming home, nothing would be the same without WAKA Wednesdays stating, "My fellow Jagernauts - I'll be loving you forever. This next Jager bomb is for you." A special moment of silence for the Jagers homeys who couldn t be there.

11 Just for Kicks 5, TailGators 0 (Forfeit) Damn. It s a shame that the Gators failed to field a team this week. I was really looking forward to seeing what they could do against JFK. On the Brightside, I guess they found a way to hold JFK to less than 10 runs. Victorious Secret 10, Chubby Gangsters 3 Victorious Secret looked strong in their squash of the Gangsters and they also made a lot of friends on Wednesday. (Just kidding. They didn t make any friends.) The Emperors Club 19, HRSSC 0 The VIPs dropped 19 runs in 3 innings, while having some fun in what Coach George I m seriously running out of ways to describe how much sex this man really has Kiriazidis described as a polite smackdown. Rumspringa 7, Foul Balls 4 Foul Balls hung tough and managed to put together 4 runs, however they weren t able to reign in the powerful Springa offense. Gym Tan Kickball 14, Chicken Tetrazzini 0 On this night, Gym Tan Kickball recaptured some of the old 5 O Clocker mojo and monkey stomped the hapless Chicken Tetrazzini.

13 Week 12 Preview Rumspringa (6-5) vs. Chubby Gangsters (5-4-2) This game has HUGE playoff implications, as the winner will claim the #5 seed in the tourney on Saturday. Why is that important? The 6 th seed will likely face either the TailGators (dangerous) or Foul Balls in round 1, and then Victorious Secret in round 2. The 4 th seed would be matched up with HRSSC in round 1 and a shorthanded Jagernaut (more on that below) in the 2 nd round In other words, the 4 seed, has a much greater chance of advancing deep into the tourney. But besides that, pride is on the line. If there is any night for the Chubby Gangsters to bring their A Game, it s tonight. Gangsters rookie Joel Dusoe said, We have to win this game. We want to finish with a winning record. Neither team has ever finished with a record above.500. These two teams are very similar to each other, as they both have good offenses that score over 5 runs per game on average. They also have defensive opportunities, as both give up over 5 runs per game. Look for this game to be a back and forth shootout (of course because I typed this, the game with probably end up being a 1-0 shutout) Springa is riding a 3 game winning streak so the momentum is definitely on their side coming into this pivotal matchup. In other news, this Wednesday will be the last WAKA VA Peninsula for Springa Chris Barr, who has been traded by GM Sabra Swilley and Head Coach Scotty Moriarty to a team in Kansas City for future considerations. We definitely wish Chris well in his future endeavors!

14 Foul Balls (2-9) vs. TailGators (3-7-1) These are two of the most tenured teams in the Peninsula. Foul Balls is in their 5 th season of VA Peninsula ball, while the Gators roots go all the way back to the first season in the Spring of This week, they square off with the winner having the potential to vault all the way up to the 8 th seed. Foul Balls have really struggled to stop runs from scoring, as they give up an average of 9.18 per game. The Gators have a lot of athletes on their squad, like John LaNeave, Christopher Annette, and Nick Anderson, who have soccer and softball experience. They can score some runs with some directed line drive kicks. (The TailGators scored 7 runs in 4 out of 9 games they actually played in, and were the only team to score 3 runs in a single game against The Emperors Club this season.) The Gators downfall has been inconsistency. You never know which TailGator team will show up (if they show up at all). If the Gators have their full squad show up for Saturday, than they really have the potential to make some noise in the tourney. For Foul Balls, the key to success will be limiting the mistakes on defense. You just can t win too many games when you drop pop ups in the outfield. If they can do this, they ll have a great shot at winning, since their offense has started to come alive. They ve scored 14 runs in the past 2 weeks.

15 Victorious Secret (8-2-1) vs. Chicken Tetrazzini (3-7-1) Chicken Tetrazzini had such high hopes earlier this season as they started off (including a very close 3-0 loss to the VIPs) before dropping their last 5 games. This week, Derek Patterson and Andrea Hoffman s squad will try to snap that losing streak and get some positive momentum by upsetting Victorious Secret. That s going to be pretty damn hard to do though, as Victorious Secret has been dominant at times this Fall. Ch Joey Lawrence and C Taylor Wilson will really have to be on their game. Otherwise, the VS speed will kill them. James Salgado, Dr. Jeremy Pinier, Andrew McCrea, Jon Reyes, Daniel Reyes, Jeff Lee, and Jeff White all have some serious wheels and will torch you on the base paths if you aren t tight on your bunt D. (shoot even Carolyn LeBlanc is faster than a lot of male kickballers. VS is faaast). While definitely major underdogs, against one of the favorites to go deep in the tourney, the Tetrazzini do have some talent, and don t be surprised if this one is closer than expected.

16 New Kicks on the Block (3-8) vs. Gym Tan Kickball (5-5-1) Gym Tan Kickball is going through a rebuilding season, but still has the skill and talent to compete with anyone on any given Wednesday. There problem has just been with consistency, as well as forfeits. Due to the forfeit penalties, the Clockers are going to probably end up with the 7 th or 8 th seed, which puts them in a pretty dangerous matchup for either JFK or the VIPs if they advance past round 1 First things first though, they ll have to get past a NKotB squad that is looking for their fourth win in their inaugural season. With an upset victory over GTK, combined with a CT loss, will put NKotB up to 8 th place. HRSSC (0-11) vs. Jagernauts (6-3-2) The Socials have one more shot at victory this season, though to get it, they ll have to beat the #4 team in the division. Let s just say it s unlikely Looking forward to Saturday, for the Jagers, they ve already locked in the 4 seed. However, they re road to the championship is going to be a tough one. Of course, everyone knows that they ve lost their MVP Eddie Seavers for the rest of the season. In addition to his loss though, they ll be playing the tournament without their starting catcher Kevin Gitkos, who emerged as one of the best at the position this season. He and Ashley Gitkos would rather run in a dumb ass marathon than play some kickball. What s up with that? Will the Nauts be able to overcome these losses and achieve GM Justin Littell s lifelong dream of holding the Wentworth Trophy?

17 Just For Kicks (11-0) vs. The Emperors Club (10-1) The main event. It all comes down to tonight. The winner of tonight s showdown will earn the number 1 seed, which gives them home field advantage in the tourney and an arguably easier road to the finals But never mind all that, even without the top seed on the line, these two rivals (yes, I am aware that labeling them as rivals might cause a 4 page debate on the definition of rivalry in the kickball365.com forums. I m ok with that.) always bring out the best in each other. In the Spring, Just For Kicks became the first team to beat the VIPs in Peninsula Division competition in nearly a calendar year. However, the two teams would meet 2 more times that season with The Emperors Club winning both contests, including the Finals of the Division Tournament Since that championship loss, Just For Kicks has been on a murderous rampage, taking it out on the entire division this Fall, like Jason cutting down innocent campers on Lake Crystal. Seriously. Bryan Freed s team has scored 134 runs and only allowed 9 through 11 games. That 125 run differential is ridiculous and has sent a message to the rest of the division. After winning their 2 nd straight division championship, The Emperors Club parted ways with a few key players, and reloaded with a lot of new talent. New to the team this season was C Roger Jackson, Drew Marshall, Amy Lowe, Thomas Juice Welch, Jesse Jones, RJ Bernard and Chris Bundy LeBlanc (who played with JFK last season). As the season has progressed, the VIPs have steadily gotten better and better playing together, and the result has been a pretty explosive offense in their own right. They ve scored 99 runs, which is the highest single season run total ever by the 3 time champions. If you re a fan of highly competitive kickball (and who isn t?!) than you re really going to enjoy this game!

19 WAKA Relay for Life Team Help your WAKA Peninsula kickballers raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight back against cancer. A few of us are in the process of starting a relay team for the Hampton event on May 20 th. We can start the team now and continue it on into our Spring season. If we can put together a full team, relay can be our Spring season charity. In order to join the team you will need to pay a $10 registration fee. For more information about the Hampton relay go to WAKA Hockey Night Buster and Melissa are already looking ahead to after the season, and is organizing a group outing to a Norfolk Admirals game in December. We are looking to keep the Wednesday tradition going. There is an Admirals Hockey game in Norfolk on December 8th. Should be a great time!
