1 HOOFPRINTS OCTOBER, 2011 President Chris Faulkner DC: Cait Alexander Secretary: Carolyn Ayers Hoofprints Editor Kerri-Anne Evans at CMPC Web Site PRESIDENT S REPORT So that s our 50th celebrations over now we hopefully can get back to normality or at least what passes for it. I hope everybody enjoyed the day, from feedback our guests did. We have had a couple of letters in, both of which will be put up in the clubrooms for you all to read at your leisure. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Anne Marie and all who helped her for the marvellous spread put on for afternoon tea. In fact to all those who gave their time to help proceedings go off smoothly thank you- and be aware we have your names down to help again at the 100th Celebrations. No excuses, I hear Freddie Gillet already has his seated booked. Lynne and I are going to be the cabaret. I aim to lose weight by then in fact I should be skin and bone! We now have quite a number of riders out there competing successfully on a weekly basis. Please remember to enter your results on your performance card. This is the means by which the committee will determine a lot of the awards at the end of the year. And whilst we are on the subject of awards, please remember our presentation dinner. Details will be sent out later (and will appear in Hoofprints), but get the date circled. Provisionally it is booked for December 2nd which is the Friday before our breakup rally. As you will see from the colour, the main arena has now been treated and work is due start on 10th October. The work on the new surface is due to commence 10th October and all will be complete for the Zone Eliminations. Unfortunately it does mean that it will not be available for use for the October or November rallies as things currently stand. As said at the last rally please make sure you are there for Muster. It is part of the rally and it is there where any changes to the rally are announced. If you need to ride or lunge your horse prior to the rally starting please get to the grounds earlier so that you can still be at muster. I feel I owe some of our members an apology. For the last few months I have been telling everybody to check the FOEP website (accessible from our site) to check whether the grounds are in use before they come down to ride. Unfortunately, the last 2 weekends nothing has appeared on the FOEP calendar yet Elcho has hosted competitions both weekends. So, to anyone who took my advice and then found they were still unable to ride I apologise. We will take steps to ensure we have a better system in the future, but for now all I can suggest is if there is something on the calendar don t come down, if the calendar is blank then guess like the rest of us. I ve looked at the forecast for Sunday and it looks good (at the moment). There s a full programme planned (thanks to Rachel and Cait) so let s make the most of it. The quicker we re through gear check and into the groups the better. See you all on Sunday bright and early Chris Faulkner dc REPORT Hello everyone Welcome back after our Milestone 50 year reunion at the September Rally. I hope you all had a wonderful time and that you treasure your special commemorative name badges and Tee Shirts. Thank you to all who helped in preparation and in the running of the day. A special thank you to our special guests who could attend. Parliamentarian John Erin, PCAV President Jan Faulkner, Barwon Zone President Coral Byrne and our Barwon Zone Secretary Judy Beasley. To our FOEP representatives, Terry Cleland and Leigh Harding and to all of our Life Members and past members who could share with us in our celebrations. Thank you to our demonstration riders, Amy, Emma, Maddy, Kerri-Anne, Rebekka, Victoria and Carly and to Fiona Bennett for organising and running the raffle for our National representatives, Amy and Lauren. Finally, thank you to photographer, David Reid who kindly took photos of the day and to Nadia Mayfield for decorating the and organising the delicious cake with Horses wearing CMPC rugs. Thank You. This Rally This Rally we have 3 s. Fiona John will be teaching Showjumping, Nina Lloyd will be teaching and Nicole Graham will be taking your theory class on Equine Dentistry. You will be learning about the different teeth, how to age a horse by looking at their teeth and much more. Please make sure you attend your given theory session as it has been set to your level of the PCAV Syllabus. Make sure you also bring a pencil and paper to take notes (you will be given a handout for your Log Books at the conclusion of the talk). For those of you who do not have Fiona John or Nina Lloyd this rally, you will have an opportunity to be in their class at upcoming rallies. Cont. on page 2 & 3
2 D.C Report September Rally Cont. CMPC Uniform It is so pleasing to see the CMPC uniform worn with pride at so many events. I believe that CMPC has the best looking uniform in the State, and we have our CMPC Committee of 1961 to thank for that for it was these wise people who decided upon our colours some 50 years ago when we became affiliated with the PCAV. When you wear your uniform it reflects not only on CMPC, but on you as an individual and your family. The same can be said for when you are not in correct uniform...it reflects on CMPC, you as an Individual and on your family. When you are at an Official Pony Club event you must wear your official uniform or you will be not allowed to ride or you could be eliminated (i.e. You must be in complete uniform while walking a showjumping course). The PCAV Rules state it clearly, we as a club state it clearly so please be mindful of this. CMPC Uniform consists of white collared shirt, PCAV Tie, Royal Blue Jumper, jodhpurs (fawn, banana, oatmeal or white in colour)clean boots with a small heel and smooth sole, Medical Arm Band, Hair tied back, and approved well fitting helmet. Gloves are optional but always looks better. At the conclusion of the event, you are expected to attend presentation IN FULL PONY CLUB UNIFORM if receiving a prize. (Helmet is optional) This does not mean having your tracksuit pants over your jodhpurs or having a base ball cap on to hide your hat hair...take the tracksuit off and put on your helmet if your hair is that bad! Finally, be mindful of all the past members from the past 50 years who also wore our uniform with pride. They have grown the reputation of how well CMPC members are always presented...don t let it be you to blow it! 6 February 2011 Gear Rules Competition Quick Reference Armbands Compulsory at competitions for all competitors including non-pcav members Badges Optional Boots (rider) Short Jodhpur or long boots in black or brown Chappettes/Chaps/Chinks Not permitted Ear rings Removed or securely taped Gaiters Optional for any aged competitor Gloves Optional Hair Must be tied up to allow competitor number to be seen Helmets Must comply with nominated standards and fit Jewellery Watches and medical bracelets permitted No other visible jewellery unless taped Jodhpurs Banana, beige, white, fawn, oatmeal Moleskins Banana, beige, white, fawn, oatmeal Raincoats Optional, as long as competitor number and armband visible Penalty 7.11.a The members of a club, which fails to comply with these requirements or have all of its uniform items registered, will be denied entry into competitions and activities until the uniform complies and is registered. On our rally days, you are expected to wear full Pony Club Uniform. This rally however you are allowed to wear your 50 Year Reunion Tee Shirts that the Committee gave you at the 50 year reunion. C Certificate Candidates - Can all C Certificates please bring your books and meet Prue at 9am in the Club Rooms K Certificate Candidates or those wanting to start their k Certificate - Can you please meet me at lunchtime in the club rooms with your books Congratulations To all who have been out competing and having a go..well done. To Amy Bellamy and Paris Graham who have moved up a grade in the BEDS competition and continue to do well. To Bridgett Ward Moss for wearing such a huge smile as she flew around the Cross Country at Werribee 2DE on the weekend. Bridgett, you looked like you were having a ball! To Emma Alexander for riding so well and winning your first Horse Trials at Werribee 2DE Thankyou There are always some people who are worth their weight in gold. I would just like to acknowledge Georgia Sutcliffe who is always happy to help whenever she can and Georgia stuck by and helped our Instructor Olivia who had recently had a car accident and couldn t pick up any rails at the last rally...thankyou Georgia. Thank you also to Lauren Hussell who has designed and set up the Handy mount courses for the past 2 rallies..thank you Lauren. Log Books Don t forget your Log Books for this rally. Chris and Lynn look forward to seeing them all and presenting the prize at lunch time. Well done to Darby Mayfield for winning it last time.
3 Claiming Rallies To claim a rally you need to attend 2 ridden lessons within the day. To claim an unmounted rally you must attend 2 sessions in full Pony Club Uniform and help the Instructor while watching and learning from those who are riding. You can learn so much from just watching and listening. Competition and Activity Eligibility Requirements Competitions: Rally attendance within 12 months prior to competition; Juniors Minimum of 5 rallies, 2 of which must be mounted on the horse entered New Members (was not a member within the last PCAV year) minimum 2 mounted rallies within the first 6 months on the horse entered Associates minimum 2 mounted rallies on the horse entered Activities: for junior and Associates: minimum 2 mounted rallies on the horse entered (activity means other than a rally, competition or training) Get Well We all wish both Naomi Faulkner and Sophie Alexander a speedy recovery and hope they will be back in the saddle soon. We sure had fun at our sleepover for the Chris Mann clinic, a couple of us bought our horses along for a sleepover in the yards. we watched movies and stayed up late and rode in the clinic the next day. Everyone looked like they enjoyed their lessons- thanks to everyone who helped pack up show jumping at the end of the day, I was off in my dressage lesson and by the time we had finished the jumps were all back in the shed! Much appreciated :-) Thanks also to Carolyn for organising Chris it was a great clinic and well organised. It was a bit disappointing to see a drop in numbers to our last committe meeting, but that didn t stop us from continuing on with some of our ideas and having a fun night. Also I recieved all the drawing competitions for last month, prizes will be awarded this rally at muster. We are running another colouring competition but I need to photo copy the winning drawing competition from last month so if you are interested in entering please pick up your copy from the office at pony club on Sunday and return it at November Rally.
