KEEP UP TODATE TTEEAAM PPHOTTOGGRRAAPPHSS MAARRKK YYOUURR DIIAARRYY!!!! Team photo's have been set for Saturday 19th June Midday to 5pm. A time slot will be allocated for your team and pics will be taken at the Sports Club Kaleen watch this space for more information. All Coaches & Managers are to complete team lists, please ensure that your coach and manager know how to spell your child s name! CCLLAARRIIFFIICCAATTIION RREEGGAARRDIINGG LLEEAAGGUUEESSAAFFEERRSS AAND IINJJUURRIIEESS If a player goes down injured on the field, then the First Air Officer (FAO) is to attend to them. HOWEVER, if a player is down injured and the FAO is already attending to someone else, or is unavailable right away, then a Leaguesafer can go out to the player until an FAO can attend to them. GGRROUUNDSS SSEETT UUPP Each team whose game commences at 9am has been asked to provide two representatives from their team to assist setting up the grounds. There are 3 fields (mini, mod and international) to set up. It doesn t take too long to coordinate. You will be assisted by the grounds-set-up-army, and, on completion, will be rewarded with a free coffee. We ask that you come to the home ground at Ashburton Ovals at 7.30am to help. GGRROUUNDSS PPAACCKK UUPP Same goes for the reversal at the end of the day. The teams who play the final games on their respective field are asked if they too can provide support to the grounds pack-away-army and assist packing down the fields. MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK Grounds set up this week Under 11 s Ground pack away this week Under 8 s CCAANTTEEEEN Leesa is no stranger to the club, and this year has taken on the Canteen Coordinator job. The Canteen; on cold days is a popular place to be (the pie warmer and coffee machine are quite warm and inviting!). Rostered on this week Under 12s. Families are asked to provide assistance in serving hot food and beverages, throughout the whole day, starting from 8.30am to 12 noon. You are not expected to be working in the canteen when your child is playing on the field. The canteen is only small, and to be honest, anymore than 3 people in that little room can be quite squishy, but please, drop by and say hi to the troops in the canteen and offer some assistance, even if you re not rostered on. NEEWSSLLEETTTTEERR The Bear Beat Newsletter welcomes your input. Newsletter contributions, including photos, can be sent to northcanberrabears@hotmail.com for inclusions. WEEBBSSIITTEE -- KKEEEEPP UUPP TTO DAATTEE The Bears very own website is up and running, it s a work in progress, but we promise it will be spectacular! The website provides you with up to date regular information, including the history of the club. CHECK IT OUT To keep up to date with where and when each team is playing every week save this sporting pulse link as a favourite: Game times can change right up to Thursday before the game commences, so keep an eye on it.
A MESSAGE FROM YOUR TEAM UUNDEERR 66' 'ss Round 3 V Queanbeyan Blues Black The u6s had their 4th win in a row last Sunday with a 32 to 16 victory over the Queanbeyan Blues black side. Again the teams defence was strong with some really hard tackling from Cooper, Jayden, Ben and Renick taking its toll on the opposition. The boys running was much improved from previous weeks with Jock, Jack, Reilly, Brodie and Chad all running straight and hard so it is obvious training is paying off for them. There were some great tries scored by Marko with Shoorjo also scoring his first for the year. You can all be proud of the Under 6 s as they continue their great undefeated start to the season. Training Thursday Cheers from coach Rossco Ross UUNDEERR 77' 'ss Training Wednesday Thanks, Peter UUNDEERR 88' 'ss ROUND 3 V Bundendore 46-8 The Under 8 s travelled to Bungendore and had a great game, winning 46 to 8 Everyone played really well, with our defence exceptional. Even our goal kicking was spot on, with 5 goals, over the Bungendore Goal posts, which must have been built at Cockington Green, as they were so small Congratulations to Tyran,, who scored a sensational try. His fending off of would be tacklers, reminded me of Greg Inglis at his best. Another star performer was Vincent, who s barn storming 50 metre run, in the 2nd half, was inspirational. Special mention to Blake, who really helped the team out. The Coach, made a mistake with the sub s, and Blake volunteered to have an extra 10 minute on the sideline, so another player could get a decent run. Next week, we play at home against Cooma Training Saturday 2pm-3pm GO BEARS! Ian
UUNDEERR 99' 'ss Training Tues & Thurs Well Done & THANK YOU! Ben UUNDEERR 1100 ss RREED Training Wednesday 5.30pm 6.30pm Go the Bears!!! Murray
UUNDEERR 1100 ss BBLLAACCKK ROUND 4 V Goulburn TRIES: Sam M x2, Jarred x1 Conversions: Jarred x1, Nick x1 A team of 15 players, and that s not including new Nick, affectionately known by his team mates as Rookie. Nick, thanks for sitting with us this week, we look forward to having you on the field next Sunday! We played a brilliant game, definitely the best by far. It was evident in the first half how much we missed Mark from the dummy half position, with Jarred sliding into position (literally) to fill in the gaps on more than one occasion. Jack popped out on the wing during the second half calling the players out to join him, encouraging his team mates to spread-out, proving that we still huddle, but it s becoming apparent on the field to the players, not just the spectators. Great communication Jack! Our passing is improving (our champion passer this week was Liam); we re moving the ball around the field more. We do need to hold the ball tight to our chest, as Andrew said, - hold onto it like it s your Christmas present and you don t want to give it back! Boys, we are very proud of the effort you put in today, Andrew and I did a dance when we had more points on the board than the opposition, and the smile never disappeared come the end of the game. Each and everyone of you turned into men playing footy there today. We re moving up quicker as a team, both in defense and in attack. We need to get our first receiver out wide, and second receiver running on the ball and a support runner along side, and we will be unstoppable. All this can be done with practice at training. The boys that stood out in my mind this week were running men Jarred, Ethan, and Lucas, with Sam as the overall attacker for this game. Nick, Jarred and Chook were the tackling machines with the support from all their team mates, but the one that stood out the most today, playing his best game by far this season, was. Dante! Well done champ, it must have been the new Jersey! Dante was hungry for the ball, and knew when it was time to turn on the power and call for the ball. Dante managed quite a few hit-ups this week and played outstanding! Dante, keep it up mate! Great game this week, from everyone. We take on the Valley Dragons at Gowrie this week; better watch out Dragons, the bears are coming! I am looking forward to our training session with Canberra Raiders, Bronson Harrison and Josh McCrone. I am hoping they can show us a thing or two in our attacking line. See you guys on Tuesday! Let s go Bears & remember training well = playing well! Training Tuesday s & Thursday s 6pm 7pm Diamantina Ovals Go the Bears Jones
UUNDEERR 1122 ss Bears 20 def West Belconnen Gold 10 TRIES Jese Smith-Shields, Jason Davey,Jason Aylott & Mack Hansen GOALS Mack & Aaron Cassel goals Last Sunday s game was a game of two halves with the bears having the better of the first half with good ball control, passing and field position. Early tries to Jason Aylott and Jese helped the boys jump to a 10 to nil lead, westies hit back with quick ball movement out wide to reduce the score to Jason Davey continues his fine form this season to step through some defenders to push the score out to 14-4 at half time. The second half was all westies with plenty of aggression and ball control, westies put plenty of pressure on the bears. With the scoreline at the game was going down to the wire, till Jason Davey on the end of couple of passes wide took on the defence and off loaded a brilliant ball to a flying Mack Hansen. This is one of the best tries the bears have score in years and could not have come at a better time with westies putting on plenty of pressure. Special mention today to: Jason Davey, going on his form so far this season, Jason has taken his game to new level with his attack and defence. WELL DONE JASON DAVEY!!!!! Jaiden Browne, injured in last week s game with broken wrist, get better soon SON!! Hopefully you are a quick healer Chalkey!!! We are already missing you. This week we are up against the other undefeated team in the Valley Dragons at 9.50am at Kaleen. These boys were premiers last year and will provide the bears with a good challenge on Sunday. Plenty of work this week at training boys will prime us for a hard game. Go the UNDER 12 BEARS!!!! Well done to the Bears girls team that put on a great game on Sunday!!! Good Luck this week against the Buffaloes. Sunday Game V s Valley Dragons (last year s Premiers) at 9.50am be there 9.10am!!! Training times starting this week Tuesday 5.00PM PM & Thursday 5.30PM-6.45PM (Southwell Park) Saturday 3pm-4pm at our home ground!!! Great work team Keep it up!!! L&L Luke

GGIIRRLLSS IIN LLEEAAGGUUEE UUNDEERR 1166 ss ROUND 1 V s Sharks 54-4 Under 16 Girls North Canberra Bears 56 defeated Belconnen Sharks 4 Wow, What a game and what a start to the season. The girls really did us proud, they all really put in a fantastic effort. If our defence was great our attack was brilliant. Quick play the balls kept the Sharks on the backfoot for most of the game and some punishing defence saw a couple of Sharks players looking for the sideline early in the game. Backing each other up and some great offloads made easy metres for the Bears down both sides of the field. How tough is Michaela after her head high try that would have bought a lot of boys to the sideline for treatment, not our Michaela straight up and back into it! Special mention to Bec for leading the way. Our forwards did a great job getting us going forward but our back shone brightly with some brilliant runs that left the Sharks clutching at thin air down both wings. Congrats and thanks to our great Coach Esther and assistant Wayne. Also thanks to Andrew for 1st aid and Leon and Frosty for running the water, it was a procession back and forth with the kicking tee after so many tries!! Tries: Bec 2, Ash G 2, Heather 3, Pipp, Shannon, Ash L & Maddy. Goals: Ash L 3, Bec, Ash G & Heather. Training Tuesdays 5.30pm to 7.00pm and Thursdays 5.00pm to 6.30pm at Southwell Park. See you there! This week: Bears v Buffaloes at Kambah 11.20am Kickoff (Sunday) Thanks Craig
