6 MEMBER HANDICAPS The USGA Handicap System was developed to make it equitable for all golfers to be able to compete together, no matter what the difference in playing ability. A USGA Handicap is designed to reflect a golfer s potential ability. It is the responsibility for all golfers, that wish to establish and keep a handicap, to post all scores in a timely fashion. The Handicap/Golf Committee reserves the right to reduce any handicaps before or during tournament play if an exceptional score is posted (net 67 or less). This will be done following the USGA Handicap Modification Indexes. All Desert Highlands Members who belong to other golf clubs should be aware of the USGA regulations for handicaps for multiple club members. The Professional staff will be happy to assist you in complying with section 6-5 in the Handicap Regulations. Regulation 6-5 states If a player belongs to more than one golf club he/ she shall: Return all scores together with USGA Course Rating and USGA Slope Ratings and the dates to all his/her clubs in person, or if the club allows, by mail, facsimile or . To keep your handicap current, the Professional staff will be pleased to enter your most recent scores in the handicap computer. Please send your last 20 scores to us via fax at (480) or us at golfshop@deserthighlandsscottsdale.com. Regulation 6-5 continues: If a player has different USGA Handicap Indices at different clubs...the committee in charge of the competition shall require him/her to use his/her lowest USGA Handicap index when competing. The intention at Desert Highlands is to abide by all USGA Rules and Guidelines and we look forward to assisting the Members to stay in compliance with this regulation. Please call the Golf Shop at (480) with any questions.
