2 EQUESTRIAN ENTRIES *Equestrian entries are accepted through Main Events website, on the official entry form or the ESNZ entry form by mail. Fax entries will not be accepted. *All entry forms must be written clearly, signed and entry fees calculated correctly. *A receipt of your entries showing the classes entered, yard numbers and competitor numbers will be mailed to you with your show tickets approximately 14 days prior to the show. DRESSAGE ENTRIES ***PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR DRESSAGE ENTRIES TO THE A & P OFFICE AS THEY ARE PROCESSED BY THE CHB DRESSAGE CLUB (refer to information on page 8 )*** Online entries available at MEMBERSHIP *Membership of the CHB A & P Association is $30 per year (incl GST). Membership can be included with your entry fees. This entitles a member to a car pass to the members car park, an adult pass and a family pass (1 adult/3 children). LATE ENTRIES *Please note that all late entries will be charged 50% extra with no exceptions. Late entries will not appear in the catalogue and cannot be guaranteed a yard on the grounds. *Due to the mail system late entries cannot be guaranteed that their tickets will be received prior to the show. SUBSTITUTIONS *The substitute must be of the same height class as the original entry. *The Association reserves the right to substitute trophies in lieu of cash prizes or vice versa at their discretion, and the Committee, whose decision is final, shall settle any dispute in connection with private prizes. REFUNDS AND SCRATCHINGS *The Association will refund 80% of entry fees when scratching or withdrawals occur prior to the show. From 5pm onwards on Wednesday prior to the show it will be a 50% scratching fee, should the competitor or exhibitor apply. *No veterinary or doctors certificate is required however a valid explanation must be given. *Refunds will be posted out after the show. No refunds under $ HORSE/PONY ACCOMMODATION *Show grounds yards for duration of show will be allocated at the time of entry $10.00 per yard. State on entry form if required. Payment must be made with entries. * Stallions requiring a yard or box overnight are to be accommodated at the race course. 2

3 *Accommodation is available at racecourse for $20.00 per box or $15 per yard per night. * Local competitors from Central Hawke s Bay will not be allocated horse accommodation during the show. *The list of allocated yards will be found on the Metcalfe Measuring Stand and at the Horse Secretary s office. You are only entitled to yards on the grounds if you are camping here. The yards are allocated to you by the Yarding Steward so please do not make any changes without authorisation. *Late entries will be placed on the waiting list for yards. *TEMPORARY YARDS OR PENS BESIDE TRUCKS OR FLOATS OR ELSEWHERE ON THE GROUDS ARE TOTALLY PROHIBITED. SHOWING INFORMATION STALLIONS NO STALLIONS ARE ABLE TO COMPETE IN RIDDEN PONY SHOWING CLASSES. It is compulsory for all stallions and colts, except foals, to wear two (2) official S identification badges, one attached to each side of their bridle at all Shows/Events at all times. The rider/handler must also wear two (2) RAS official armbands (one for each arm) when in the ring. *RAS HEIGHT CERTIFICATES/NOVICE PERFORMANCE CARDS MUST BE CARRIED AT ALL TIMES AND PRESENTED ON REQUEST. NO CARD NO START NO EXCEPTIONS. MEASURING RULES (excerpts taken from RAS rules) The Measuring Rules of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand (R.A.S.) will apply at this show. Life Certificates 1. No Life Certificate will be issued until an animal has been suitably branded/microchipped. 2. Life Certificates may be issued to animals eight years old and over under the rules laid down by the R.A.S. 3. Life Certificates will not be issued on show days. Annual Certificates 1. These Certificates will be valid from 1 August 2016 until 31st July Measuring guidelines 1. Height certificates will only be accepted if the measurement has been made on a standard Metcalfe Measuring Stand and signed by the official measuring steward of the Association cm will be allowed for shoes. 3. All horses/ponies must be presented in a bridle with a bit for measuring. The measuring times can be found on our website which is Enquiries to: W K (Bill) Tilson (06) or Stuart Ewen (06) NOVICE HORSES AND PONIES *Novice ponies may be ridden by a rider of any age in novice pony classes only. *A novice exhibit or rider is one that has yet to win six (6) classes in any division within the competitions provided at any A&P Show/Event. i.e.: If you have 0, 1 or 2 wins you can enter the 0-2wins class. If you have 0, 1, 2 or 3 wins you can enter the 0-3 wins class. If you have 0, 1, 2, 3 4, or 5 wins you can enter the 0-5 wins class. Once you have achieved 6 wins in Conformation (and this includes Ladies & Gents classes) and/or Paced & Mannered classes, you can no longer enter in Novice classes in that category. *All wins in novice classes within each division must be recorded on the RAS Performance Measuring Card and these must be signed off by the Ring Steward on obtaining the win. *Should a novice horse win an open conformation class e.g. ladies and gents classes, and in height division classes, these wins must also be recorded. *The number of novice wins is to be counted at the time of the show, not the time of entry. 3

4 *If a novice entry has gained the permitted number of wins by the day of the show, the competitor must advise the Equestrian Secretary and change to an open class, or if no class remains to enter a refund will be actioned after the show. SADDLERY & ACCESSORIES: The following are not allowed when horses or ponies are being ridden on the grounds at affiliated shows/events, nor shall a rider be lunged on a Horse or Pony with any of the following equipment attached to a bridle: Nosebands other than cavesons combined with Double Bridles or Rugby Pelhams, attachments to the curb rein of Double Bridle, or running reins used in conjunction with Double Bridles or other curb bits, Market Harborough, Bearing Reins, Tie Downs, Gags, Side Reins, or any other equipment not specifically listed here that could force or tie a horse or pony into a frame, and thereby be deemed cruel or come under the mistreatment rule GR6. COMPETITOR NUMBERS *COMPETITOR NUMBERS WILL BE COMPULSORY FOR THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS: Show Hunter Classes - Ponies and Horses, Horse Saddle Hunters, Pony Saddle Hunters, Park Hack/Hack, Riding Horse, Pintos, Pleasure Horse, Pleasure Pony and Showing pony classes on the flat. *The competitor numbers will be allocated when your entry is processed but it is your responsibility to provide the number and number holder. *Competitors will not be allowed into the ring unless wearing their number. *ESNZ Bridle/Saddle Blanket numbers are required for all graded Dressage classes. * Non graded Dressage class competitors are required to wear a day number competitors are to supply their own numbers and holder. * Numbers are not required for ESNZ Show jumping classes. PRIZES * Prize awards over $50.00 will be paid by cheque on the day. Lesser awards will be paid in cash on the day. *Show jumping prizes are paid as: 7 entries prizes paid to 3rd. Between 7 and 35 entries prize money to 5th place. Over 35 entries prize money will be paid on the 1:7 ratio. Ribbons will only be given to 5th place. *All prize money GST inclusive. STANDARD POINTS FOR AFFILIATED ASSOCIATION *Where there are five entries or more: First: 6 points Second: 4 points Third: 2 points V.H.C: 1 point *Where there are less than five entries: First: 6 points Second: 4 points Third: 2 points V.H.C: Nil *Champions and Junior Champions two points extra; Reserve Champion, one point extra. In the event of no competition, only half points awarded. Competition means two or more exhibitors, whose exhibits are judged, competing for the prize or prizes in the particular class for which prizes are awarded. Ties to count one win each. GENERAL INFORMATION *EACH EXHIBITOR MUST SUPERVISE AND CONTROL THEIR ANIMALS AT ALL TIMES AND SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY HAZARDS CREATED OR ACCIDENT, ILLNESS OR DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE ACTION OF THEMSELVES OR THEIR ANIMALS AT THE SHOW GROUNDS. EXHIBITORS MUST COMPLY WITH THE APPROPRIATE ANIMAL LEGISLATION AND THE HEALTH AND SAFETY, IN EMPLOYMENT ACT ALL COMPETITORS RIDING HORSES OR PONIES MUST WEAR A HARD HAT OR JUMPING HELMET. COMPETITORS, EXHIBITORS AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ENTER THE GROUNDS AT THEIR OWN RISK. 4

5 HEALTH & SAFETY EMPLOYMENT ACT 1992 The CHB A & P Association is required to conform to the Health & Safety Employment Act However, as a Show Exhibitor at this venue you are also obligated to accept responsibilities in relation to the operation and use of our Place of Employment: within the focus of this Act which is to eliminate, isolate or minimise risk to Personal Health and Safety. The CHB A & P Association is responsible to present a safe venue for use. As a user of these facilities you are required to take all practical measures to manage and supervise the health and safety of your event or exhibit representatives, agents, employees and servicing contractors, during the period of this event, (Including set up and disassembly). The Act embodies a considerable measure of sound common sense, with the key to identify potential risks in advance by practical management application. Some obvious elements to note as potential hazards include: leading livestock in public areas; use of machinery, tools and equipment; unstable stages, platforms and ramps; riding horses in public areas. DRUG TESTING AND FORBIDDEN SUBSTANCES Forbidden Substance rules of the Royal Agriculture Society apply, a copy of which is held in the office or the RAS website ras.org.nz 1. Competitors are advised that there may be random tests for forbidden substances. 2. Any competitor who has administered to his/her horse or pony any forbidden substance during the 7 days prior to the show, is required to notify the Equestrian Secretary before competing. 3. The administering of any drug which affects the performance of a horse or pony is forbidden. The Committee reserves the right to submit any animal to veterinary examination. YELLOW CARD SYSTEM This show supports the R.A.S. "Yellow Card" system which will operate throughout all of the R.A.S. affiliated shows. The President of the Show or their duly appointed delegate and/or the Chief Steward of the Section/Stand may issue a yellow warning card instead of fines or other penalties applicable as indicated in the RAS affiliated Show or Event own Rules and Regulations, to the Person Responsible (PR) Yellow Card. This Show/Event supports the RAS Yellow Card system. A Yellow Card will be issued, In cases of offences in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate behaviour as per the RAS Constitution and the RAS Rules & Regulations/Bylaws including the Equestrian Rulebook, the RAS affiliated Show/Event/registered Measuring Stand and their grounds and their duly appointed delegates may deliver to the Person Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either immediately or within 10 days of the show) which suspends any penalty until possible new offences. Full wording of the Yellow Card system is available to view on the RAS website PROTESTS AND OBJECTIONS Standard by-laws and regulations must be read before a formal protest is made. A full copy of these rules and regulations will be available at the Equestrian Secretary's caravan or upon request. The charge per protest is $50.00 LIQUOR BAN AREA Please be aware that the show grounds are in a liquor ban area and alcohol is banned apart from the designated areas determined on the special licence. This ban extends to the car and horse float parking areas. Please be responsible and do not ruin things for other people. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON A LEAD AT ALL TIMES *The Committee reserves the right to make any alterations in show timetable or to postpone the show or withdraw any event as may be deemed desirable. PARKING IS AT A PREMIUM, PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE! 5

6 TROPHIES The trophies are to be collected and must be signed for from the main show office after they have been won. They must be returned prior to the show the following year by the beginning of October, engraved (at your expense), and cleaned. It is your responsibility to return the trophies. We would appreciate that trophies do not leave Hawke's Bay. THE DUNLEE AWARD FOR THE MOST PROMISING UP AND COMING RIDER IN THE PONY SECTION OF THE SHOW Kindly Sponsored by: Mr & Mrs Ewen Wilson and Joanna Wilson from Havelock North It cannot be won more than once by the same competitor. Winner to receive the Dunlee sash and silver cup. An independent judge will be observing all flat and jumping classes in the Pony Section over the two days of the show. Criteria: Ability, Performance, Manners and Presentation of Pony and Rider. This will be awarded after presentation of Champion of Champions. ORLANDO CUP Presented by the Breakwell Family to the Supreme Open Show Pony Of The Show. Winners of the 2 following classes to be judged: Champion Open Show Pony 138cm & Under and Champion Open Show Pony Over 138cm and not exceeding 148cm. COLIN HARVEY MEMORIAL TROPHY Donated by Mr Graham Harvey: most points by local competitor in the pony section. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS Kindly Sponsored by: Ngamatea Hunting & Fishing This class will take place on Saturday 12 th at approximately 12 noon in the Main Oval. If a Champion competitor can not compete in this class for any reason the position will be offered to the Reserve Champion of their section. This is the most prestigious event at the show for Show Horses and Show Ponies. Two independent judges who will be looking for all round excellence in conformation, performance and presentation will judge this event. The horses and ponies eligible for this are: Champion Open Saddle Hunter Horse, Champion Open Hack, Champion Open Park Hack, Champion Open Riding Horse, Supreme Champion Open Show Pony, Supreme Champion Open Saddle Hunter Pony, Champion Working Hunter Horse and Champion Working Hunter Pony. JR & GSA Taylor Cup For Level 1 Horse & Rider. This Cup is competed for annually at the CHB A&P Show Only. Riders may not have been placed above Level 3 grade and open only to Horses. Steward: Kelly Bibby & Central Hawke's Bay Pony Club Judge: Practice rounds 9.00am - $2 per round to be paid to the steward on day. Run under ESNZ Show Hunter and Equitation Series Conditions $5.00 ESNZ Jumping Levy (compulsory) payable by all horses/ponies competing in Jumping and/or Show Hunter. $15.00/$10.00 Casual Jumping Levy. The rider must be a full member with ESNZ. Horse/Pony not registered for ESNZ SJ/SH can compete using this levy. The levy is $15.00 for the first day competing (this is related to the horse not the day of the show) and $10.00 for subsequent days at the same show. Can only jump up to 1.10m on a pony and up to 1.20m on a horse. Cannot compete in series classes and will not be eligible for HOY points in SH. Riders may compete in Introductory classes (80cm and under with no prize money) on a Community Membership. All other riders must be full members with ESNZ. Low Hunter Fence range 70cm 90cm maximum. Open to all horses regardless of previous experience. Combinations entering in the Low Hunter classes may only compete in Low Hunter and Introductory classes at that show. A rider or horse may compete in other classes/divisions at the show, however not as a combination.
