1 HORSES AND PONIES SUPERVISOR: Mrs Sam Wilson ph OVERNIGHT STAY: Anyone wishing to use our sale-yards the night before the Show, can do so by phoning Stu Jensen, , at a cost of $5.00 per night. (Any damage will be charged to the owner, and you enter at your own risk. No overnight camping of horses on Show grounds allowed. All horse droppings/ hay /manure to be removed by owner on show day. RULE BOOKS: Anyone wishing to purchase an RAS Equestrian Judges and Competitors Rule Book can do so from the Equestrian Co-Coordinator - Christine Roberts Ph , Fax or equestrian@ras.org.nz GRAND PARADE: Prize winners are required to, and all other horses are welcome to parade. FORBIDDEN SUBSTANCES: The use of tranquilisers, stimulants, or any drug capable of affecting the performance of horses or ponies is forbidden. Tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show and testing of all animals is at the owner's risk. Testing is under the RAS Forbidden Substance Judiciary Committee procedures and rules. HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS & RULES: The rider of any Horse or Pony shall not be changed for the duration of the class being judged. In all height classes, Horses may be entered in only one class. All Horses must carry a current R.A.S. height Certificate. (Refer rule 67, RAS Rule Book). ONLY DISTRICT COMPETITORS MAY BE MEASURED - no exceptions No horse under 3 years of age is permitted to be shown under saddle at this Show. NOVICE CLASSES: A Novice is a horse or pony that has not won six firsts in any saddle conformation classes at day of show. Competitors achieving six firsts at show day may transfer to open classes within entered section. Novices to be shown in SNAFFLE BITS in Novice Classes. Novice Champion Saddle Horse not eligible for Champion Saddle Horse. Novices may enter the appropriate Novice classes for their wins, and any open classes. NOVICE CHAMPION AND RESERVE to be judged from Hacks, Park hacks, Saddle Hunters and Standardbreds. Whips exceeding 72cm are not permitted in Show Classes District Classes are restricted to Horses owned and ridden by persons residing between the Hurunui and Waipara Rivers. Horses may be entered in one showing section only i.e. Park Hacks, Hacks, Standardbred and Saddle Hunters, but all may enter the working and walking saddle horse classes. No class will be held up for horses in another ring. RAS YELLOW CARD SYSTEM This show supports the trialled RAS "yellow card" system (as per resolution at 2009 annual conference), which will be offered for any inappropriate behaviour towards Show Officials, Judges, fellow competitors or any other third party connected with the show bringing the equestrian discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious nature to the above in accordance with the conduct of Members, Owners, Lessees, Competitors and/or Exhibitors as provided in the RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges Rule book, and rule number 13 of the RAS constitution. BACK NUMBERS: Breast plate number holders are encouraged. A number is required for each animal-rider-exhibitor combination in all classes (including led classes). Hawarden A & P Association numbers at a cost of $4 per entry are available to competitors. This will be refunded, if returned by 5pm on Show day. JUDGES TRAVEL FUND: A fee of $3.00 per equine exhibitor to be included at time of entry. TROPHIES: The MARGARET SIDEY MEMORIAL CUP, presented by the late MR D. All riders U17 must wear safety helmets in accordance with RAS rules. The Hawarden A & P Association recommends that hard hats be worn by all competitors. No responsibility will be accepted for any injury to those not wearing safety approved helmets. Stock and Station horses, gear and rider turnout to be tidy and appropriate for riding in SHOW conditions. Inhumane equipment or training aids are prohibited and the judge and stewards have the right to inspect all tack including the bit. Horse to be of a size and type capable of carrying an adult and gear all day, over all terrains, at all paces.

4 A sash and certificate will be presented to the Champion and Reserve Champion Stock Horse (calculated on points from classes 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39). The Committee reserves the right to enforce RAS rules where appropriate. Gear and turnout appropriate for use of stock and station horse in SHOW conditions. Judging Commences 9.30 a.m. All sheep must be entered in the name of bona-fide owner or owners and the original breeders name must be stated where there has been a change of ownership of a registered flock of the same breed as the sheep being entered and must be from a Registered Flock. These cattle will require the NAIT approved RFID tag. Animal Health Requirements: All animals entered for showing or exhibiting must be from a current TB Clear Status Herd. A copy of the current TB test certificate must be attached to entry forms. The Association must be notified at the time of entry of any testing to be carried out after the closing date of entries or of any potential TB issues that may arise after entries have been submitted. Owners entering cattle must sign any declaration printed on the entry form. There are two documents required. First document is a TB Test Certificate. For animals from a Declared Movement Control Area all animals aged three months or older are to be TB tested and have a clear test within 60 days prior to being moved to the Show. All other animals must be from a herd that is up to date with it's current routine TB testing requirements. Second document is a TB Animal Status Declaration Card. This is a legal requirement for all animals being moved. All animals entered must be accompanied in transit by a signed and dated TB Animal Status Declaration Card showing a TB Clear status in accordance with present legislation. Animal individual numbers must be included on the TB test sheet. These cards may be inspected at the unloading area. The owner of a dam of an animal at the date of mating shall be considered the breeder. Name of breeder to be stated. All cattle entered in these classes must be entered in the recognised Herd Books of each breed. I.D. NO. AND AGE OF ANIMAL ARE TO BE SPECIFIED ON ENTRY FORM. Bulls over one year must have a nose ring. Nose clips in females recommended. Primary school age children may lead calves, but not older animals.
