SIC C Badminton Junior C2 Austin Waugh SIC C1 SIC C def. by SIC C Unlucky to lose in the last week but the most effort and determination I've seen from the girls. Emily and Uyen really played their best but the St Dominic s girls were just a little more skilled in the end. With 6 girls playing only Uyen and Emily were able to play singles and doubles. The girls played very well, but we unfortunately we re the runners up this season. Despite this, if I have the majority of the same players next season, I would recommend this team to be moved up a division. As predicted, St Michael s were on their A-game. Unfortunately, we couldn t win a few of the crucial points to take some games, but this was not to say the girls didn t play well. For example, Sara Sha executed one of the most impressive smashes I have seen in the season, and Kritika Garg pulled off some incredible drop-shots, as did Fiona Yang - except from the back of the court. Overall, all the girls played very well against difficult opposition. I am proud of their efforts and they should be to, we have had a very successful season. Best Player: Erin Goh A very close set of games, eventually being won by the Junior C1 team by 1 point. The girls played very well, with all games being very close. An outstanding match, and the girls should be very proud of their effort this season, with most matches being extremely close. Well done! Nazareth 16 SIC def. Nazareth 4 SIC 20 def. by Loreto 25 Terrific start to our playoff match. A highly competitive first quarter saw scores level at 8 -all at the first change but unfortunately we couldn t sustain enough scoreboard pressure for the remainder of the game. Loreto s consistent defensive pressure, all over the court, gave them more scoring opportunities and they made the most of them. Our effort was top notch but wasn t rewarded often enough. Loreto were tough, well drilled and outplayed us in the 2 nd and 3 rd quarters. The girls will regather and find the focus and drive needed for their final game against Mercedes in Intercol Nerves were high, but it didn t draw away from the final game of the season. Coming up against a tough opposition in Nazareth 3, the team knew it wasn t about reinventing the wheel, but playing good solid netball for the full 40 minutes. The last time these two team met, Ignatius walked away with only a 1 goal win. The girls came out of the blocks strong, setting up a 1 goal lead at quarter time. Fresh legs were injected into the game and the second quarter saw them kick into another gear, pushing the margin out to 7. Our defence was relentless and persistent in every play, while our mid court connected seamlessly with both ends, allowing the shooters to go to post. By half time the team was in full control of the game, with the mercy rule coming into play. All 9 players played a spectacular game; their best game of the season to secure a 13 goal win. What a game to finish the season! Having previously drawn with Nazareth we were prepared for a tight game, but the girls came out strong and took a significant lead early in the game, ultimately taking it out by a margin of 20. The ball flowed beautifully all the way down the court with our attackers working extra hard in the absence of a WA. Special shout out to Alana for stepping into GA and Marcella for playing GD even though both girls prefer to play in the midcourt. This game shows how much we've improved over the season, thanks for a great season girls! The girls were very determined going into this game given we had beaten this team by 1 goal upon our last meeting. Along with the excitement of it being the last game of school netball, the girls came out strong attacking at the ball. However, a few skills proved costly, with us being down by 5 goals going into the first break. An excellent level of intensity was seen all over the court through the whole game, with Alicia and Zoe taking many intercepts from nowhere. Despite the eventual loss, I am still very proud of the girls for the season and everything we have achieved together. To begin with we were struggling to hold our own,

Thanks girls for making this season such a fun one, I wish you all the best for your futures in netball! I m so proud of how the girls played this week. We came out fighting from the word go and were up by three points by the end of the first quarter. Our leading down the court was fantastic and we were able to put the pressure on the opposition by intercepting passes and catching all the rebounds. Thank you C9 s for your hard work, perseverance and making this season such an amazing one! Bit of a disappointing start to the last game of the season where we didn t play our best in the first half getting us down by ten at halftime. At halftime I told the team to fire up and give it a real go for the last game as we had nothing to lose. Everyone stepped up and we were able to win the third quarter and have a really great second half! Despite the first half the girls all played a really great second half and did exactly what I asked of them! Excited for Intercol next week! Ignatius C2 s defeated Loreto in a tight playoff match, securing third place overall! Despite having lost to them previously the girls went in there with a strong determined mindset that this time the result would be different. They executed all the feedback and put everything they learnt over the season in practice, resulting in a victorious win they truly deserved. They demonstrated some incredible netball and worked excellently as a team both on and off the court. The girls should be so proud of their efforts during the season, it has been an absolute pleasure coaching this bunch of talented young girls! The score was certainly not indicative of how we played. A few minor errors but we all played with great spirit. Some outstanding circle work by Tahlia and Lulu and at least 20 intercepts by Jordan. We won that game in my mind. A very proud coach here. When we found out we were playing against Mercedes in the Grand Finals, we knew it would not be an easy game because we have lost to them twice. However, the girls were enthusiastic and determined to play their hearts out. We were down by 1 at the end of the first quarter, proving how much we wanted it. We started trialling during the third quarter and it was too late to come back at the fourth quarter. Nonetheless, the girls should be really proud of the performance they have put up this season. They have improved so much and have worked hard to end up in the Grand Finals. It has been a great pleasure coaching all 12 players. Keep your heads up girls, there s always next year! What an exciting last game we had on the weekend playing off for first on the ladder. The girls started the game off strong, creating many turnovers and maximizing every shooting opportunity. Unfortunately we made too many mistakes in the 2nd and 3rd quarters that we ended up having to constantly play catch up in the last quarter. We fought really hard in the

I m so proud of the effort and enthusiasm the girls put into the last game and every week before. Playing against older girls and proving themselves in 2 divisions has been an outstanding achievement The girls played the best they could on Saturday but SAC had improved since we saw them last and got the better of us. They managed to stay calm and keep pushing right up until the last minute despite the umpire being super tough and some injuries. There was a great energy on and off the court which is always good to see. These girls have been a great team to coach and are all shining stars on and off the court. I wish them all the best and hopefully I ll see them again in touch football or netball next season. What an awesome way to end the season, the girls threw everything they had into this game and came out victorious. A close game the whole time the girls didn t give up and played their hardest the whole time, supporting each other and working off each other s strengths. So proud of you girls, all your hard work payed off, well done on a fantastic season! Although we didn t win this game, we certainly won the season. I m so proud with the way you girls have learnt and played each game to the best of your ability. Although some of the time we had our moments, I couldn t have asked for a better team. You should all be very pleased with this season of netball. Congratulations to Layne (MVP) and Sadie (Loyola) who will be taking home the awards! A beautiful Saturday and a fantastic effort from both teams to finish the season. The first half was super close; the year 7s burst out of the blocks, showing fantastic intent and teamwork. Neve and Sofia were brilliant in the goal ring, moving well and going confidently to the post. Lara and Olivia provided fantastic drive in the mid court; and our defenders Sophie, Gabby, Alannah and Alessia were rock solid, working well together to mark the space and create opportunities for turnovers. Soccer Senior A Izzy Czechovicz Trinity 1 SIC 4 def. Trinity 1 We ran out of gas in the second half, but never gave up. The girls kept running and supporting each other to finish the season on a great note. Enjoy the break, ladies, look forward to seeing you back out on court next year! The Senior A side knew they had to bring their A Game this week to pull out first place in the play-off finals. The girls managed to put a single goal away in the first half, securing a safe head start over Trinity. Trinity were eager to score and tried to get the ball to their key
5 Soccer Senior B Olivia Bradley Sacred Heart 1 SIC 4 def. SHCS 3 centre forward, however our strong defence line (Issy, Brianna, Eilish and Emily) were constantly able to cut off the through balls to her. They held their line well, and when needed to, Eilish cleverly dropped back to act as a sweeper and stop their key forward from having too many shots on goal. Our Senior A midfield absolutely dominated over Trinity s. Their switching was strong, and it was rare that Trinity won the ball while it was in our midfields possession. Key plays were made through out centre midfielder, Tori, who set up many scoring opportunities for our forwards. Grace Nayda made many brilliant runs up the line and her crosses into the 18-yard box helped us put away some goals. Sarah and Jo were unstoppable up front, managing time on time again to take on and get around Trinity s defenders. Shout out to Tori who scored a ripper top corner shot outside the 18-yard box and definitely took home goal of the season award. The Senior A side performed brilliantly as a team and deserved to take home first place in the league. Best player: Tori and Eilish Congratulations to the girls for winning their third place play off this week! It was a bit of a worry when Sacred Heart scored twice early in the game, however, the team came through! Despite the rocky start, the girls quickly found their feet and managed to dominate most of the game in terms of possession and shots on goal. Our first goal came from Lara s excellent effort down the wing, followed by a great cross into the box. After that, everything fell into place! The midfield and attack worked well together to move the ball up the ground, and the defence were excellent in their efforts to prevent sacred heart s centre forward from scoring in the second half. Well done girls and get ready for intercol! Goals: Nat 2, Mia 2 Soccer Junior A Jiarna Zerella Trinity SIC 6 def. Trinity 1 An extraordinary effort for our final game this week. The girl s game out hard and strong like they were asked, moving the ball around nicely and using their positioning wisely. Charly managed to do what she does best and took their whole defence for a run, sprinting down the line to kick an early goal. Trinity didn t let their head down and returned one quickly, and stayed defensive for the remainder of the half. After a half time booster, the girls were fired up and were able to keep the ball in our attacking half to have multiple scoring opportunities. What a great way to end a fantastic season and the girls should be proud of their exceptional improvement over the course of the season. Best player: Charly Soccer Junior C2 Sarah Francesca SIC C3 SIC C2 (0) def. by SIC C3 (1) On the day we were blessed with great weather and a great turn out of spectators supporting the Ignatian girls. 6 Soccer Junior C3 Riana-Rose D'Annunzio SIC C2 SIC C3 (1) def. SIC C2 (0) close goals and saves from both sides. It was definitely tied the entire match, up until the very end when the opposition scored. Besides the loss, my girls put up a great fight and really stepped up their skill efforts in the second half with creating more space and through balls, also to mention the defence line really put up a tough fight and should be proud of the way they were shutting down the cross in s. Overall It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know my girls individually and as team. I have absolutely enjoyed training the girls and watching them improve their skills and I am so proud of how they have conducted themselves throughout the season and they should be proud of this. Best players: Annalisa, Ang, Issy, Lara It is safe to say that the girls played the best they have played all season today, show casing their skills to the crowd they drew out filled with happy and amazed friends and family. The first half of the game the girls struggled up front to be able to get the ball close enough to he oppositions goals in order to make any shots on goals however in saying that the defensive line was stronger than ever. Our goalie for the whole game, Monique, was amazing in the goals and showcased her skills of communication through talking to her defenders and communicating during corners and kick outs to the entirety of the team. Charlotte and Megan were the strongest they have ever been in the defensive line both knowing when to move up and back to provide pressure and help deliver the ball to the mid line. In the second quarter the girls brought their tenacity 10 fold, pep talking one another throughout the entirety of the half, knowing that if they worked hard enough and continued their communication they could take their first win. This is exactly what they did and I could not be more proud of them as they should be of themselves individually and as a team. Best players: Charlotte, Monique, Hannah Mixed Sport Sport Team Coach Opposition W/L Comments Squash Div 2 Hugo Ricci PAC 2 SIC def. by PAC In a sudden turn of events, the previously undefeated Ignatius side went down in flames this week. Ben Melville s untimely shoulder injury and Max Lyall s leg injury during the week left our side looking for two replacements to play in a high-stakes semi-final. Seb Ricci, although having to verse a higher order player, managed to play some of his best squash to date. Despite losing, he scored a significant amount of points in order to give the team the best chance of succeeding. Chip jones was the standout player this week, swiftly defeating his opponent and helping boost the morale of the team. Stand-in Alex Moulds
7 played some quality squash in such a high-stakes debut, winning his first game but unfortunately losing the successive two. Sam Osborn similarly played well, with a match that could have gone either way but ending up going to PAC. It was disappointing to lose two of our players at such a critical point in the season, however the boys should be proud of what they have produced throughout the year, and thanks should go to the stand-ins for this week. It has been a pleasure as coach of the Div 2 side, and I wish the boys all the best for the rest of the year. Seb Ricci lost 13-15, 11-15, 3-15 Chip Jones won 15-11, 15-5, Alex Moulds lost 15-6, 5-15, Sam Osborn lost 10-15, 10-15, 6-15 Squash Div 3 White Mr Miles St Paul s 1 SIC def. by St Paul s Our boys played in the semi-final of this competition last Friday night. Although outgunned by the number one seeded St. Paul s team, our boys are to be commended for making the semi-finals and having what was overall a reasonably successful season. All team members tried their best on the night, with Josh Winkler managing to win his rubber in a very strong display. Thanks to Max Floreani for his excellent captaincy through the season and to all team members for showing great sportsmanship and camaraderie throughout the season. Max Floreani lost: 9-15, 8-15, 9-15 Jack Alfred lost: 8-15, 12-15, 8-15 Jackson Pawelski lost: 5-15, 7-15, 0-15 Josh Winkler won: 15-10, 15-13, Squash Year 9 Matt Marano PAC 1 SIC def. PAC This week was the last round before the final, where only the top two teams will play off. Going into the round we were already placed 2nd, however this week we played against 3rd, PAC, who were sitting on the same number of wins as us, we were only ahead in points. So what technically wasn't a final, it felt like a final. Ryan did some calculations and figured out that we only needed to win one game to progress...and the boys delivered. Ryan played in first position and won two out of three games, along with Harvey in third. Isaiah defeated his opponent 3-0, while Ben had a very close match dropping the first game 19-21, coming back to win the second game only to lose the final game But at this point it didn't matter, as the boys had already secured the final spot in the grand final. Well done boys, remember to bring your A game against St Peters.
8 Squash Year 8 Red PAC 2 SIC def. PAC Ignatius Red played off against PAC 2 in this week's semi-final, bringing home a clean win with 4 rubbers to 0. The boys all played some strong squash with smart shot selection and good consistency. They will face off against PAC 1 next week in the grand final, a very tough team with a winning record against Ignatius Red, so the boys will have a challenging match to finish up a great season. Table Tennis Middle A1 Austin Waugh Mercedes (Intercol) SIC def. Mercedes An amazing finale to finish off the season, with the lower 8 players sweeping Mercedes without losing a single game. For the upper 8, they found it very challenging battling the intensity of the opposition but were able to conjure some close wins. Overall, every player should be very proud of their season, finishing it on a high.
