5 General Championship Information Date of Championship March 15 th 20 th 2009 Banquet and Giants Game March 14 th. Players and Coaches are invited to attend the banquet which is tentatively scheduled for the Pacific Coliseum, 100 North Renfrew Street, Vancouver, B.C. V5K 3N7. The banquet will take place before the final Vancouver Giants regular season home game against the Prince George Cougars. This is also Fan Appreciation night. Your ticket to the banquet will get you a great meal and a ticket to the game. Ticket price: TBD Coaches Meeting March 14 th. Tentatively scheduled for the Pacific Coliseum following the banquet. Rink: Burnaby Winter Club 4990 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC V5G1M The Burnaby Winter Club features three ice surfaces which are use by its Hockey, figure Skating, Curling and Development programs. 7 Introduction Burnaby Burnaby (population: 202,799) is the Greater Vancouver Regional District s geographical heart, with easy access to Vancouver, the North Shore Mountains and Whistler to the west and north, as well as to communities such as New Westminster, Port Moody and Coquitlam to the south and east. Thanks to this central location, plus a superb public transportation system that includes the SkyTrain the world s longest, automated, light-rapid transit system Burnaby has grown to become BC s third largest city. Burnaby is a full-fledged, sparkling city in its own right. It is home to world-renowned Simon Fraser University as well as to Metrotown, BC s largest shopping complex. It has also become one of the province s key high-tech research hubs. In 1992, Burnaby celebrated its 100th anniversary and officially changed from the Corporation of the District of Burnaby to the City of Burnaby. Restaurants: The Burnaby Winter Club Café, located on site, will be open during the Tournament from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Café offers a complete menu with a variety of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Electric Railway tram stop village has been created with a combination of heritage and replica buildings on a 10 acre site. An exciting must for every visitor is a whirl on the fully restored historic 1912 CW Parker Carousel.
