Hope to see you all at our events. Commodore Linda Loftis IOBGA District 15 - February 2016 Update The IOBGA had their seminar January 16th. The participants had a chance to meet with many members of many local yacht clubs. Our club was well represented. I am sure new friendships were made. We found useful information to help our future officers directors. We have discovered an organization that needs our help -Elder Help. Last year we had a fun event raised over $800. There will be a jewelry show. All monies raised will go to make things easier for our seniors their families. The event has all jewelry donated by our yacht clubs: men s as well as children s women s. The prices range from $2.00 to $ Soon another show will be held. MBYC SWYC wish to help with this event,. all yacht club members are welcome to come enjoy the fun great food, too. As soon as I have all the details, they will be available on the SMYC website in our Anchorline, so that you can come enjoy - help make things a bit easier for our seniors. Sincerely, Audrey Hall, President 2016 ( hulakai2@cox.net)

5 P A G E 5 Safety Education Not All Boating Accidents Happen on the Water Edelgard Rieder, S E Chair ST PPED BY THE OR COAST GUARD OR OTHER WATER POLICE LIFEGUARD UNITS, BE POLITE AND EXPLAIN YOUR When it comes to trailered boats nine out of ten trailering malfunctions accidents can be directly traced back to a failure to dedicate some time to the most basic preventative maintenance. Wheel bearings, suspension parts, lights, a host of other components require constant attention to keep any trailering trip smooth hassle free. Special attention to the tow vehicle's hitch is a good idea, as that is the only link between the tow vehicle trailer. Also consider the fact that one needs a special license classification to drive things like motorcycles, school busses vehicles with air brakes like semi-trailer trucks, gravel trucks, etc. But just about anyone can go out buy a $30,000 boat trailer, attach it to his/her car simply drive away. No special training is required beforeh no special license classification Anyone who has ever hauled a boat around for a number of years knows that it may not be too difficult to drive in a straight line at low speeds. But when it comes to things like driving at highway speeds, passing other vehicles, high winds, backing up, etc... the task becomes much more challenging than one might think. Ladies Bingo Saturday, February 13, 2016 Beautiful sunny unseasonably warm weather made the meeting at the home of Joe Jane Palmiotti a wonderful experience. While playing Bingo battling for many coveted prizes 14 ladies enjoyed a variety of Italian-inspired foods like pizza, meatballs, homemade guacamole several delectable desserts. Refreshing lemonade wine complemented the food. The Mystery Prize, a gift card to the Cheesecake Factory, was won by Barbara Natase. Thank you, Jane, for your generous hospitality!

The six-course dinner included Beef Broccoli, Orange Chicken, House Soft Noodles, Sweet-Sour Pork, Shrimp Chop Suey Cashew Chicken. Interested members are also encouraged to help out during the races. It really is a lot of fun! RECREATION BOATERS OF CALIFORNIA (RBOC) All boaters in California should be aware of what is happening in Sacramento. Several bills are being considered that may affect us. You can follow these developments by looking at There is great concern about the hyacinth growing in the channels of the Sacramento delta. Another issue concerns invasive species in many lakes. Yet another item of great interest is clean water in our harbors. Clean water concerns including debris in the waters showed up in several bills. And don t forget the ongoing battle against bottom paint. P/C Gary Hall
