Lancaster split a fourgame series at Inland Empire and dropped into second place in the South. Rancho Cucamonga won on Thursday to avoid a sweep at High Desert and snap a nine-game losing streak. They sit in last place in the South. Friday night's game is the first of 11 at LoanMart Field this season and the first of 23 games in the season series. CY YOUNG VS. YOUNGSTERS: The JetHawks bevy of young hitting prospects will take on two-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw on Friday night. The Dodgers ace will be making his first start in a rehab stint with the Quakes. After starting Los Angeles' opener in Australia, Kershaw was placed on the disabled list for the first time in his career on March 30 with a strained upper back muscle. The Dodgers top young pitching prospect LHP Julio Urias, tonight's scheduled starter, will pitch after Kershaw. WESTWOOD WOWS: RHP Kyle Westwood continued his stellar start to the season on Thursday night despite suffering the loss at Inland Empire. The second year pro allowed one run on four hits over five innings. Through six outings, Westwood leads the club in innings pitched, ERA and WHIP. In 17 career appearances, he has allowed one or fewer earned runs 16 times. KEMP COMING HOME: 2B Tony Kemp leads the California League with 27 runs in 21 games. The speedy leadoff man has been in the lineup for every game and leads the club with a.337 average and a.441 OBP. The Tennessee-native was drafted in 2013 out of Vanderbilt where he became one of only three players in SEC history to be named the conference's Freshman of the Year (2011) and Player of the Year (2013). GUNNING 'EM DOWN: C Roberto Peña has caught 63% of potential base stealers this season, the top mark in the Cal League by over 10%.
