1 Corpus Christi Hooks (29-14) at NW Arkansas Naturals (29-13) Tuesday, May 26, 2015 Arvest Ballpark Springdale, AR 7:05 p.m. ON THE RECORD: 12-9 Home 17-5 Road Series 3-0 Sweeps W 1 Streak 3-2 Last Last 10 A MEMORABLE DAY: Jio Mier s two-out, two-run single in the 10th inning Monday afternoon vaulted Corpus Christi to an 8-7 walkoff win over the RockHounds before 5,197 at Whataburger Field. Trailing 7-6 in the 10th, the Hooks loaded the bases against Tucker Healy. Chan-Jong Moon popped up to shallow left for the first out. Tony Kemp was next and hit a sharp line drive that was caught by a drawn-in Ryon Healy at first base. Leo Heras scrambled back to the bag and beat Healy with a head-long dive to keep the Hooks hopes alive. Mier then hammered the next pitch over the head of right-fielder Matt Olson to win the game. Corpus Christi carried a 6-2 lead into the ninth. Brian Holmes yielded two singles and a walk to open the frame, loading the bases for nine-hole hitter Bruce Maxwell. Jandel Gustave entered and Maxwell launched his first pitch into the Hooks bullpen for a grand slam to level the game. Gustave went back out for the 10th and allowed one run on two hits and a sac bunt. Jaycob Brugman, who cracked five knocks on the day, plated the go-ahead run. Mike Hauschild got the start for the Hooks and pitched well, holding the Hounds to two runs over 5.0 innings of work. Corpus Christi s four-run fifth was kick-started when Kemp stole home on the front-end of a double steal. The top eight slots in the Hooks lineup recorded a hit with the club going 8-for-19 with men in scoring position.
