WITH CARLOS ON OUR SIDE: Astros OF Carlos Gomez begins his rehab assignment with the Hooks today. Gomez, who was placed on the disabled list May 17 with a bruised left rib cage, was hitting.182 with 6 runs, 8 doubles and 5 RBIs in 34 games. He has struck out 46 times against 7 walks. Gomez came over to Houston, along with RHP Mike Fiers, in last year s deadline deal which sent LHP Josh Hader, RHP Adrian Houser, OF Brett Phillips and OF Domingo Santana to Milwaukee. He has struck out 21 against 4 walks in 18.2 IP. The league hit.243 and failed to hit a home run. Peterson pitched scoreless ball in 8 of his 11 outings with the JetHawks. Peterson, a 37th-round pick in 2014 out of North Carolina State, went 6-4 with a 2.59 ERA and 6 saves in 34 assignments for Quad Cities last year. He struck out 75 and walked 22 in 62.2 IP. Peterson ranked 2nd on the River Bandits in appearances and saves, converting all 6 chances.
