With the Hooks ahead 4-1, J.P. Sportman opened the ninth with a single against Aaron West. Josh Rodriguez was next and rolled a double-play candidate to second but Hyde misplayed the ball. Two outs later, Franklin Barreto hit an RBI double down the left-field line, putting the tying runs in scoring position. A walk to Matt Chapman loaded the bases for Beau Taylor, who floated a single into center to even the score at 4. Hyde responded by blistering a fly ball past a diving right-fielder Tyler Marincov. Antonino Nunez cashed in the winning run with a high bounder to center past a drawn-in infield. The Hooks capitalized on a RockHound error in the third thanks to thee consecutive hits, including a two-run double by J.D. Davis and a Nick Tanielu RBI two-bagger. Lefty Brandon Mann would limit the damage to that three-run outburst. The Hooks were backed by starter Keegan Yuhl who hurled five scoreless innings. Eric Peterson pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh before allowing a run in the eighth. Corpus Christi tacked on in the home half. Garrett Stubbs smacked a lead-off double against Jake Sanchez.
