Griffin, the reigning Texas League Pitcher of the Week, retired the first seven Saturday, and held the Hooks to two hits through the first five innings. Both knocks were by Ramon Laureano, who went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Corpus Christi lefty Alex Winkelman pitched scoreless ball through the first three frames, but could not escape the fourth. Zach Walter s one-out single and a free pass to Anderson Miller were augmented by errors from third baseman J.D. Davis and catcher Jamie Ritchie. Northwest Arkansas scored three unearned runs in the frame. Akeem Bostick, called upon to get the final out, stranded men at second and third. The Naturals posted another marker in the fifth, putting the home team up 4-0. The Hooks got to Griffin in the sixth. Drew Ferguson worked a lead-off walk and moved to second on a base hit by Davis. Jon Singleton then smacked an RBI single into center field for the club s first run. With men at second & third in the Hooks seventh, Antonio Nunez cracked an opposite field single into right field, bringing CC to within a run at 4-3. Bostick penned a scoreless sixth and seven-pitch seventh before giving way to Andrew Thome. In the home eighth, two-out RBI singles by Logan Moon and Nicky Lopez made it a 6-3 affair.
