The setback spoiled a strong start by Kent Emanuel, who scattered two runs and seven hits over 5 1/3 innings. Emanuel fanned four and did not issue a walk. Corpus Christi backed him with a persistent attack in the first three frames, scratching five hits, including three doubles. It was Garrett Stubbs RBI two-bagger in the third which led to a 1-0 Hooks lead. Midland answered straightaway. Back-to-back singles began the home half and, one out later, J.P. Sportman sent a line drive down the right-field line, plating a pair. Stubbs salvo in the third would be the final hit against Seddon, who retired 10 of the last 11 he faced. The exception was erased on a line-drive double play. With Emanuel out of the game, the RockHounds erupted for five runs from the sixth thru the seventh. Kyle Smith surrendered a pair of doubles in each frame. Tyler Marincov and Andy Paz each had three hits. Marincov scored twice thanks to two doubles and Paz drove in two courtesy of a key two-run, two-bagger in the sixth. Andres Avila permitted one hit over two scoreless innings and Jake Sanchez pitched a perfect ninth. Dorris is 2-0 with a 3.59 ERA and 10 saves in 30 games between Quad Cities and the JetHawks this year, striking out 76 against 26 walks and 45 hits in 52.2 IP. He converted all 10 save chances with Lancaster, including last night vs. Modesto. The Cal League batted.224 with 6 homers in 23 games vs. Dorris. The Weatherford, TX, native opened the year in the Midwest League and was charged with 2 runs over his first 6 assignments, totaling 9.0 frames. For the season, Dorris is averaging 13.0 strikeouts per 9 IP. Dorris made 1 appearance for the Hooks last season. He allowed 1 run on 3 walks and a hit batsman while recording 2 outs in Game 3 of the Texas League Division Series in Midland. The 23-year-old pitched at 3 levels within the Houston system in Dorris, who signed as a non-drafted free agent last June, ended the regular year with Quad Cities, tossing 4 scoreless appearances for the River Bandits.
