Lefty Evan Grills dominated for much of the evening, holding the RoughRiders to a Ryan Cordell home run over the first six innings. Grills, who had dispatched 18 of 19 batters, entered the seventh with a 4-1 lead. Andy Ibanez bucked the trend with a lead-off home run. Three singles followed to load the bases. One out later, Luis Marte lined a two-run single into left field. Grills, backing up the plate on the play, tried to cut down Joe Jackson at third, but his throw sailed up the left-field line, allowing the go-ahead run to score. Corpus Christi s answer came in the eighth. Nick Tanielu opened with a double against Jose Valdespina. Roberto Pena was next and belted his 8th home run of the year off the left-field foul pole, pushing the Hooks back in front 6-5. Frisco leveled the score in the ninth. Cordell coaxed a lead-off walk from Kyle Smith, stole second base and later scored on a Marte base hit. Another free pass translated into Frisco s run in the 10th. Chris Cotton issued a one-out walk to Ibanez and singles by Ronald Guzman and Cordell followed, handing the Hooks their second loss this season when leading after eight innings.
