For the second straight night, a Hooks starter struggled right out of the gate. Brian Holmes gave up a run in each of the first two innings, RBI singles by Nick Schulz and River Stevens that put the Missions out in front. When Holmes had to exit last night s game with an apparent injury after just three innings, two arms out of the bullpen responded in a big way. Aaron West tossed his longest outing of the year by holding the Missions scoreless over four innings while allowing just three hits and striking out two. Brendan McCurry followed in relief and earned his TL-leading 13th save by tossing two shutout innings and fanning three batters. Corpus Christi got on the board early as well. After Teoscar Hernandez singled to open the Hooks half of the first, Alex Bregman doubled him home to earn his 42nd RBI of the season and extend his hitting streak to six games. Hernandez was the catalyst to a rally in the fifth when he led off with a double. He would later score on a single by Nick Tanielu to tie the game at two. In the meantime, a walk to Derek Fisher would come back to haunt Missions. Fisher stole a base in the inning and came home on a balk by new pitcher Rafael DePaula that proved to be the winning run.
