DH Nick Schulz opened the San Antonio second with a double to left field off RHP Kyle Smith. Two outs later, 3B Gabriel Quintana lifted a 1-1 pitch over the fence in left for a 2-1 Missions advantage. With the score level at 2 in the fifth, C Ryan Miller worked a one-out walk and SS Chase Jensen followed with a two-run blast to left. Jensen began the at-bat having gone 0-for-18 to start his Double-A tenure. RHP David Paulino entered in the sixth and retired eight of the first nine he faced. Nick Torres disrupted this trend with a two-out bomb in the eighth. This Missions added a pair of unearned runs in the ninth. Jensen provided the insurance thanks to a two-out, two-run single into right field. CF Teoscar Hernandez put the Hooks in front with a lead-off poke in the first inning. RHP Fabio Castillo kept Corpus Christi off the scoreboard until the fourth. RF Derek Fisher, who was a triple shy of the cycle, opened the frame with a double. Fisher advanced on a ground ball and then scored when LF Danry Vasquez sent a single into right field. Fisher belted a 445-foot home run just to the left of the batter s eye in the sixth and added an RBI single in the eighth. 2 PAGE 2 GUDUAN ACTIVATED: The Astros have activated LHP Reymin Guduan from Corpus Christi s disabled list. Guduan, who missed the full 8-game road trip, is 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA and 1 save. The flame-throwing lefty has struck out 17 against 3 walks in 12.0 frames, holding the opposition to a.167 batting average. Guduan had retired 21 of 22 batters leading up to a solo home run by Midland s Matt Chapman on April 28, his most recent appearance. To make room for Guduan, RHP David Schmidt has been placed on Tri-City s roster. FOUR!: Derek Fisher became the first Hook to notch 4 hits in a game, going 4-for-4 with a double, home run and 2 RBIs Sunday afternoon. Since the beginning of the club s series at Frisco, Fisher is batting.270 with 7 runs, 3 doubles, 1 home run and 6 RBIs in 10 games. LEADING MAN: In his return to the lineup, OF Teoscar Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and 2 stolen bases Sunday afternoon. Hernandez missed 2 games after fouling a pitch off his left foot Thursday at Midland. He is tied for 4th in the Texas League with 9 stolen bases, and is also tied for 5th in walks (15). Hernandez has hit safely in 7 of the last 8 games, batting.345 with 5 runs, 1 double, 2 home runs and 2 RBIs. During this stretch, he owns 4 walks against 2 strikeouts. TACO TIME: Hooks pitchers have struck out 10 against 1 walk in each of the first 2 games of this series with San Antonio. For the season, Corpus Christi s staff has racked up 275 strikeouts, which rank 4th in Minor League Baseball. OSO BLANCO ATTACK: Evan Gattis is 2-for-7 with a double, home run and 2 RBIs in this current stint with the Hooks. He has also gunned down a runner attempting to steal second base in 7 innings behind the plate. The Astros optioned Gattis to Corpus Christi on Saturday to get reps as a catcher. Gattis, who did not catch last year, worked 93 games as catcher in 2014, and in 42 games in 2013, his rookie season. The 29-year-old slugger is batting.203 with 4 doubles, 1 home run and 7 RBIs in 20 games for Houston. Gattis opened the year on a rehab assignment with Corpus Christi, hitting.400 with 1 double, 2 home runs and 4 RBIs in 4 contests. He was placed on the 15-day Disabled List April 1 (backdated to March 25) due to sports hernia surgery. Gattis hit.246 with 20 doubles, 11 triples, 27 home runs and 88 RBIs in 153 games for the Astros last year. In his first season with the club, the Forney, TX, native led Houston in homers and RBIs. Gattis set single-season career highs in most offensive categories, including runs (66), hits (139) and multi-hit games (40). He became the 9th player since 2000 to reach the 20-homer plateau in each of his first 3 big league campaigns. Gattis was acquired by Houston from Atlanta prior to 2015 Spring Training in the deal which sent RHP Mike Foltynewicz, RHP Andrew Thurman and IF Rio Ruiz to the Braves.
