Armenteros, making his season debut, allowed two walks and two runs (one earned). The lone knock against him was a Mauricio Ramos lead-off single in the fifth. Meanwhile, the Hooks struck first with a two-run home run in the fourth off the bat of Alejandro Garcia. The line-drive poke to left was his first hit of Armenteros had to settle for a no-decision as the Naturals (1-3) managed a run in the fifth and sixth to tie the game. Corpus Christi broke through in the eighth against relievers Pedro Fernandez and lefty Tim Hill. Garrett Stubbs and J.D. Davis made it a 3-2 game with back-to-back doubles to begin the frame. One out later, Garcia singled and Drew Ferguson walked, filling the bases for Mayfield. The Del Rio native, who doubled in the fourth, belted a 1-1 pitch off the wall in right to put the Hooks in front 6-2. Bryan Muniz made it a four-run game with an RBI single into left field. Eric Peterson earned the victory, striking out four in 1 2/3 innings. Michael Freeman recorded the final five outs to secure the triumph.
