Corey Walter and lefty Brandon Mann teamed to hold the Hooks to two hits. Both of the knocks came in the second against Walter, who has not allowed a run in his last 15 Texas League innings. Mann entered in the sixth and issued a lead-off four-pitch walk to Ramon Laureano. Jon Singleton then struck out looking and J.D. Davis hit into a double play, ending the inning. The Hooks mustered four more baserunners the rest of the way: two walks and a pair via force plays. Drew Ferguson was the only Corpus Christi player to reach scoring position. Ferguson worked a walk to begin the first and stole second base. The Hooks stranded two in the inning and six on the night. Hooks starter Kyle Smith pitched well out of the gate, retiring six of the first seven batters. Richie Martin upended this trend with a lead-off bomb in the third. Midland added an unearned run later in the frame. Smith faced three in the fourth thanks to a double play. Rosa s slam came with two outs in the fifth against reliever Eric Peterson.
