The Missions got off to a quick start against Hooks starter Brett Adcock. The left-hander allowed a leadoff double to Buddy Reed and then walked Josh Naylor. Ty France followed with an RBI single to give San Antonio a 1-0 lead. Kyle Overstreet then stepped in and laced a two-run double down the left field line as the Missions jumped out to a 3-0 advantage. Adcock escaped the frame without further damage after he induced a double play to conclude the inning. San Antonio lefty Logan Allen was splendid through six frames, holding the Hooks to just a single run while striking out five batters. Lorenzo Quintana accounted for the lone tally against Allen with a solo homer to begin the third. Quintana's 10th blast of the season made it a 3-1 ballgame. Right-hander Hector Perez spun five brilliant scoreless innings in relief while striking out four. Quintana and Chas McCormick began an 8th-inning uprising with back-to-back singles. Stephen Wrenn executed a sac bunt, setting up Taylor Jones two-out, two-run single. In the 10th, lefty Alex Winkelman dealt with Reed as the automatic runner. Winkelman loaded the bases after issuing an intentional walk to France and a single to Overstreet. Austin Allen walked it off by working a 10-pitch free pass. Corpus Christi was sept by San Antonio in a 4-game series at Whataburger Field. The Hooks have now dropped 7 of the last 10 games. Prior to this dearth, the club had lost back-to-back games only once from May 26-July 14. Corpus Christi was during that torrid stretch. MAC ATTACK: OF Chas McCormick reached base 4 times last night, notching 2 walks and 2 singles. McCormick is 3-for-6 with an RBI double in the first 2 games of this series. He entered tonight riding an 9-game hit streak. In McCormick s last 12 games, the speedy OF is hitting.400. Q BRANCH: C Lorenzo Quintana s 3-hit performance last night was highlighted by his 10th long ball of the year. Quintana has hit 8 of those dingers in his last 14 games. The Cuban backstop matched the club record by belting 3 homers in a game July 9 vs. NW Arkansas. SUPERIOR STARTS: RHP Akeem Bostick turned in his best start of the year Sunday, holding the Hounds to 2 hits over five innings. After surrendering a lead-off double in the first. the right-hander from Florence, SC proceeded to retire 13 in a row. Bostick s performance comes on the heels of a stellar showing by RHP Corbin Martin, who scattered 1 run and 5 hits over 6 frames Saturday night. The 22-year-old from Hempstead, TX exited in line for his 7th AA victory, but the Hounds 9th-inning rally upset those plans. Since a rocky debut in Rocky Town, Martin is 6-0 with a 1.70 ERA in 13 games for the Hooks. LHP Ryan Hartman picked up his 3rd consecutive win Friday night, giving him 9 on the year. Hartman, who has allowed 2 ER or less in 14 of his 18 outings, ranks 2nd in the Texas League in victories, ERA (2.85), strikeouts (100), WHIP (1.22) and batting average against (.259). The lefty from Anaheim, CA is now 5-0 with a 1.69 ERA in his last 7 outings. Hartman is trying to become the Hooks first 10-game winner since RHP Kyle Westwood notched 11 in The club record is 14 triumphs, achieved by RHP David Martinez in 2013.
