The New Hampshire Institute of Art was an elegant place to spend the evening. Six couples from the Portsmouth Ballroom Dance Studio performed a wonderful showcase. I have to mention the flashy glasses worn during the Hustle. I need to get a pair way too cool for words. The lesson for the evening was a Rumba; it was an awesome pattern that I hope to see everyone doing at our next dance. As always, there were great snacks, awesome conversation and terrific music. The next dance is September 18th at Pinkerton Academy, Derry; Rico Barr will be the band. Paper Moon Dance Center in Merrimack will be performing the showcase. The lesson for the evening will be a Fox Trot. We will be announcing the recipient of this year s dance scholarship at this dance. Additional details regarding the Anniversary Ball, which will be held on October 16, will be announced at the September dance. Don t worry if you are unable to attend the September dance, the information for the Anniversary Ball will be in the next issue of Footnotes. Please keep in mind the next Outreach is scheduled for Sunday, September 12th at Greenbriar Terrace Nursing Home in Nashua NH. If you are interested in participating, please contact Joyce Wilson. Lots of fun to be had by all! If you plan to attend the next dance, please contact Betty by the Thursday before the dance. We need to know this information so that we can let the custodian know how many tables to set up and to let the decoration committee know how many tablecloths and decorations to get. We also need to know how much ice, water, snacks and supplies to bring. As always, thank you for your cooperation. It is much appreciated. See you in September, Nancy Wow! Thanks so much for filling in for me Nancy! I guess Joe and I missed a great dance but we really did have fun during our Maine camping vacation. The weather was perfect. It was interesting having three teens: Sarah, her girlfriend, and our 18-year old nephew. I made gourmet dinners mostly every night. The campground had tons of activities to keep us busy. Our nephew (who is living with us temporarily) will be starting college classes on Tuesday, August 31st. Two more scheduled camping trips during the month of September and then the popup gets put to bed for the winter. I m gearing up for a busy month with my Pampered Chef part-time business. Our dance classes will be resuming next month. The board will be meeting and making plans for the October Anniversary Ball. Phew, I ll need another vacation! As Nancy mentioned, our next dance is Saturday, September 18th so please don t miss it. It s sure to be a good one. Everyone should be returning from all of their vacations, so please get in your reservations early. I want to thank everyone who donated door prizes in August especially Paper Moon Dance Center and Edziu Sentkowski who have consistently given to NHABDA. (Also, we overlooked mentioning Arthur Murray s donation of a CD last month. My apology.) As a non-profit this helps us out as funds are tight. While we don t have to give anything away at every dance, I ve always considered it to be fun and a nice extra benefit for our attendees. We ll see what we can come up with for September!
