Francsco Dons, 66 to 49 Playng before a large crowd n San Francsco s Kezar Pavlon n Golden Gate park, the Spartan hoopsters held the San Francsco team to a tght 30 to 27 score n the frst half wth USF enjoyng the lead The Spartan team tred n the second perod, however, USF pulled ahead to wn easly on the strength of Don Bennngton, who talled 16 ponts for the Dons, Doll Folgram, who marked up a total be desred The audence was put n a receptve mood from the start by the excellently executed stage by J Wendell Johnson John Kerr must be gven credt for the drecton of the play The stage busness was almost perfect Although the frst act was a lttle slow, that s only to be expected of openng nght, Is sure to pck up n the remanng fve productons of the play Every actor n the comedy carred hs part well There was not a sngle nstance of mscastng, as s so often the case where young actors are asked to portray elderly characters Stanley Schwmmer had just suck a part Although only a freshman n college, he played the part of the agng Dr Haggett very convncngly Hs voce mannersms were that of a man n hs late fftes, although hs movements were a bt too brsk Dorothy Wllams Clfford Roche, who had the romantc leads n the story, hled themselves lke veterans Especally was ths true of Roche, whose manner ftted nto the part excellently Dors Perry s nterpretaton of the smperng older sster brought a number of laughs to the capacty audence She was very good n the parts where she lamented the fact that her younger sster was to marry before her Presentaton of the oly New Yorker, who specalzed n
